Just wanted to point out the major player for DFS Bill in NY had an update today, seems very positive

  • DomTwan

Well if 9 sites have their application fine and approved, but the 10th doesn’t, are we going to wait to have the 10th site fix their approval before all of them can get back up and running?

    Seems a little crazy…

I don’t know if its that extreme but there is no other explanation in my mind of why at least ONE of the applications hasn’t been approved. NYS gaming commission has told us that they have even been working on weekends and in 3 weeks no permits have been approved? I get it if some of the applications needed more information so its taking more time, but what about the other ones? Unless they’re working on them one at a time, and if thats the case, some of these sites will be lucky to go live in NY before the end of the year.

Well your theory is irrelevant anyways because I tweeted them and they told me its on a first come, first serve basis. Look at my earlier post.

My theory is irrelevant because im nobody and I recognize that. I hope im wrong, but if its first come, first serve then are we to believe that it will take AT LEAST 3 weeks for each company to receive a permit after the first one is approved? Or are they working on all the permits at the same time? And if they’re working on all the permits at the same time…. not one of them has been approved since their applications were submitted on August 4th? something just doesn’t add up

The Gaming Commission has been fairly transparent throughout all of this.

They are telling us which apps they have.

They stated they sent back numerous apps (including DK and FD) because they needed more info from them.

This is how bureaucracy works. Shit takes forever.

They are actually being more open and honest about their process than they probably need to be.

A lot of ppl here just don’t seem to understand the logistics of regulation. Someone pointed out that it may take a while because other states took a while. Others say this is NY so things will be different. Nope wrong. The constant word for all states is REGULATION so we shouldn’t expect an expedited process from ANY state.

For argument sake, lets say that they issue FD a permit today but don’t release a permit for DK until 2 weeks from now… How big of an impact do think that would have on DK? IMO it would be enormous. The next 3 weeks before football season are when companies like FD and DK fight for new accounts and deposits.

I don’t think the gaming commission gives a shit. What are you trying to get at? Yes, whichever team gets approved first gets the first crack at depositors. That means they should all be trying to submit valid paperwork as soon as possible. The gaming commission has been very transparent and willing to respond to tweets.

  • MRCOOKONUTS

Actually first come served really means whoever is quickest to sufficiently answer ALL 23 questions commission has and send the proper documents gets the temporary permit.FD and DK already had a failed crack at it twice, and now they try again.
If someone applied just last week and sent all info back to gaming commission and meets the commission’s satisfaction, then they will jump to the head of the class.
Just hard to imagine any other site getting permit before DK and FD, but it is possible..

Fair enough, if DK and FD receive their permits on the same day…. will call it a “coincidence”

Too many people on here are just making up theories and posting random thoughts without knowing what they’re talking about. Permits and business licensing can take time in NY. The forms have to be filled out with a sometimes ridiculous level of specificity and it is not at all unusual for businesses to re-submit forms multiple times before they are approved. I’ve had to get through the bureaucracy of NYS in the past and it can be extremely frustrating. DK and FD are not incompetent because they had to re-submit their forms more than once…that is the norm in NY.

DraftKings,FanDuel, Yahoo, Fantasy Draft and Draft can re-start #DFS contests in NYS — effective immediately, per NY Gaming Commission.

I respectfully disagree, you cant tell me that the gaming commission purposely denied FD and DK a temp permit twice, even IF they answered all 23 questions asked of them satisfactory, and had all documents requested of them provided to the commission. The application did not fully answer what was required and thus they try a third time to get this right and they WILL get this right any day now!!

I feel like you read what I wrote incorrectly. …when did I imply that they denied dk and fd on purpose after they filled the forms out correctly? My point was it is more difficult than most think to fill out these forms to satisfaction. They need to include all sorts of documentation in specific ways….its not like a test at school were you just need to get 23 questions answered “correctly”
