I have some free time during the allstar break and I was going to try and build a dfs spread sheet. Does anyone know where you can download a list of batters, their handedness and the handedness of the pitcher they are facing and also as a bonus the projected runs for the team. I have found the info a few places including rotogrinders, but it doesn’t seem to be downloadable. Any help would be most appreciated.

You can find some good basic MLB spreadsheet building tutorial videos on YouTube. I say “basic” because they will give you the foundation as far as pulling data and and choosing the right sources. Spreadsheets are only as good as the data, so ultimately it is up to you to determine what data to pull and how to incorporate it. Hope this helps, good luck.

I can tell you what I do on mine and it may or may not be what you’re wanting as it does take a little work up front but once you get it setup, you just add players as needed when they get called up.

I have a tab labeled ID where i have the player name and player ID (the ID that i use is the ID found on fangraphs)
I then have a tab labeled Hands and the Hands tab has the Player, their POS, Their Team name (probably not updated b/c i dont manually change it after i set it up), their Batting hand, their throwing hand, and then their Player ID (which is a query looking at the ID tab to get their player id #).

So then I have a batters tab where i have a list of all the batters for that day (i do this manually after downloading the rosters from fanduel) and it pulls everything that i want for the batters which includes exactly what you’re asking (their handedness, the SP that they’ll be facing and their pitching hand, etc).

Additionally, for the projected runs, you could just add that from a tab for vegas data (i use the vegas data here at RG and have to cut/paste that daily)

All in all, each day the only thing that i have to manually do on my sheet is download the fanduel data and then cut/paste that into 3 tabs (fanduel_data, SP, and Bats tabs), cut/paste vegas data from RG, and then add some weather info manually (if i even do that) and thats about the only manual things i have to do as everything is automated

You can create custom reports and download directly into Excel from Fangraphs.

When I made my sheet a couple years ago I created a tab with a list of all player names/team/handeness. It was time consuming at the beginning but will save you a ton of headache.

As far as vegas, use the O/U and moneyline to generate a team total. Hope that helps.

The biggest advise I would give is don’t go overboard and try to do it all at once. The sheet can grow and become more advanced as needed.

Mine started very basic a couple years ago. Today, I would put my projections and sheet against any in the business.
