Anyone know anywhere to learn how to start making projections for each sport? Never made projections but would like to start learning how to from the beginning. Thank You…

How you build your projections algorithm all depends on what you’d like to base your projections on, but in general I would recommend starting with baseball (which is convenient with the MLB season about to start). In baseball, you can use historical stats to predict future outcomes much more accurately than in the other big DFS sports, and the fact that those stats are so readily available in computer-friendly formats (e.g. from makes the mechanics that much easier. For instance, each time I run the app I developed (which is the basis for my own projections that I use for my RG blogs) it parses play-by-play logs from every MLB game from the past several seasons and uses those stats along with relevant splits for upcoming slate of games to generate projected FPTS. I could go on for hours, but I’ll stop here for brevity!

Aside from pitchers, MLB projections are basically pointless IMO.

I’ve built projection models for all three major sports. They’ve helped me a ton, mostly because I can see where the projection is coming from and why the number is what it is. Really helps find value plays or under rated plays.

If you want help creating a projection system you really need to define what you want to do and what you are struggling with. Just saying you need help is to vague.
