I guess Draftkings will still have the millionaire maker, with top prize getting $1 million. I would be a bit surprised if they start with a $2 million top prize just like they did last year.

As for Fanduel, they are usually more conservative. And given that they don’t have Texas, I would guess their top prize will be around $300K

I guess the biggest question will be if draftkings milly maker tourny’s will be even more top heavy. Wait, what am I saying. Of course they will be more top heavy.

Will NYS come back? That will determine a lot.

Has anyone ever received a response from DK on why Milly Maker always top heavy?
Why not have a few winners in top 5 opportunity for life changing money…
    1million
    500k
    300k
    175k
    100k
Then just make all other prizes 25% less than the usual prizes..

And have 425,000 for the remaining 16k+ payouts?. What is that helping solve?

I hope that it’s flatter this year, but I doubt it. 2 of their top mlb gpps today are paying 20% of pool to 1st today.

That’s a travesty. Have they done studies that show most people play for a chance for a huge score because I think many , including myself would prefer less top heavy payout structures?

Dfs is a hobby and entertainment first for me with hopes of being profitable enough not to reload and I have been overall but not by a lot (keep track in my head). I’d much prefer redistributing that top payout thru the field. Maybe not the min cash level but for the 11th thru around 350th or so. Finished 63rd in $3 NASCAR gpp last week of 32,000 and got $60. Doesn’t sound like quite enough.

I would guess that the million first prize exists for one reason and that is to attract brand new players. Brand new players are extremely valuable to DK and I’m sure they would be very resistant to get rid of it, even if 75% of existing users preferred flatter payouts.

    This is a terrible idea.

They need to be flatter, which means, in plain English, that the money should be spread out amongst the players so the top few don’t get 30-50 % of the total pot.

Regardless of horrendous Milly Maker payouts, I can’t wait for NFL. Poppa needs another new car.

It preys on the same mindset that has the general public running to 7/11 to purchase PowerBall tickets when it’s 500 million dollars, but they act like it’s a waste of time and don’t bother if it’s 50 million.

That is to say, that top prize sounds better on a commercial, and it’s meant to attract people that won’t bother to scan the entire payout structure, much less calculate things like rake or percentage to triple or quadruple, whatever their buy-in.

    At least that’s my assumption.
Personally, I’d like the money spread out more….I think it’s a better investment to circulate the money and allow more people to profit or just feel good about the game..so I hope they get more creative. Someone mentioned that they had an MLB contest this week with a progressive payout where every place increased payout…I’d love to see more things like that.

DK would make the same amount of money (if not more) if the MM was reduced to a 500k top prize, 300k for 2nd and the next 3 or 4 spots paying 100-200k. My interest in the MM last year dwindled as DK slowly made it an almost all or nothing tournament.

Just for reference, here is the payout from NFL Milly Maker from October 10th. Tourney filled. Top 88,500 cashed:

    1st $1,200,000.00
    2nd $500,000.00
    3rd $250,000.00
    4th $150,000.00
    5th $100,000.00
    6th $75,000.00
    7th – 8th $50,000.00
    9th – 10th $40,000.00

And here is the last MM from last season. Only top 66,300 cashed and tourney didn’t fill:
    1st $1,000,000.00
    2nd $400,000.00
    3rd $200,000.00
    4th $100,000.00
    5th $60,000.00
    6th $40,000.00
    7th – 8th $30,000.00
    9th – 10th $25,000.00

Fast forward to this past weekend’s ridiculous Open MM. It also did not fill and based off the chatter here, I would say it was because of payout structure. I certainly had no interest even though I threw in 1 lineup. BTW, this PGA MM had a higher guaranteed prize pool than the 2nd NFL MM I listed.

    1st $1,000,000.00
    2nd $150,000.00
    3rd $75,000.00
    4th $50,000.00
    5th $30,000.00
    6th $20,000.00
    7th $15,000.00
    8th $12,500.00
    9th – 10th $10,000.00

I agree, but if their moonshot payments are any sign of things to come then the payouts for NFL should be much flatter

Glad you mentioned that because I hate MLB DFS but actually played a few recently because of the flatter payout.

true, ive noticed the the moonshot has become flatter which is a sign of things to come and i like it, but they also cut down the entry limit to 150, and its looking like its on all tourneys, lol not good for max entry guys like me

Ugh, I would like to think yyyuuuggge, but there’s still legality and perception to overcome. I would also like to think this is just a bump in the road to higher projections from 2017 and forward
