Grinders live host, Eric Crain aka Jakz101, held on to ship the Millionaire Maker on Draftkings last night as well as having a huge overall night.

Huge congrats to an amazing guy and big contributor to the Rotogrinders community.

I was unaware of the Milly win since I wasn’t in it. Needless to say, dude got a well deserved HUGE payday and I have to give him credit; he played every single one of his recommendations.

    CONGRATS!

Happy for Eric but the truth is he didn’t use most of his picks. There’s a thread on another site that goes over this. He used none of the qb’s he gave out. He barely used the Wr and used 1 TE he mentioned. That’s kind of a bad look for RG. Why give out picks if he’s not gonna use him and worse name it his “player pool”. I don’t want to take away from his win but I thought it should be mentioned. If he’s not gonna play his selections why give them out?

Let’s be fair here. The article that is being referred to was out on Wednesday. How many of us have guys penciled in to use on Wednesday and end up on different guys by Sunday afternoon? Heck, I had a lineup I was dead set on using Sunday morning, and still ended up on something else by lineup lock.

Now, let’s say we ask Mr. Crain and all the other writers to wait as long as possible to make sure the readers get the exact picks they like on Sunday afternoon. Once again we would have so many unhappy customers who want information sooner than that.

It’s simply unfair to expect him to stick to his picks that he liked on Wednesday on Sunday. In fact, if you watched Night Sweats, with Eric on it, he even said he was driving Saturday night and that’s when he decided he wanted to use Theo Riddick.

Lastly, if you listened to his morning show on Sunday morning, he was talking pretty highly of Carr and Cooper, as one of the other hosts brought him up.

That’s the part I assume the sore losers on other forums and Twitter don’t take in to consideration. You have to use your Wednesday plays regardless.

Big congrats on the win, man!

I hear you man. In fairness then why would someone pay for incentives he gives his REAL updated picks for free? I’m not a sore loser I just don’t think that’s right.

Ever hear the disclaimer at the end of the Fantasy Football Edge podcast that Adam Levitan gives?

I think that can apply to this situation.

Things change throughout the week that can DRASTICALLY alter lineup construction, especially in a 150 lineup GPP portfolio.

No one is being forced to pay for incentives….

Eric single handedly BANKRUPT the entire DFS community last night.

    Congrats!

I have heard it and it’s a bit different here. I’m not even an incentives subscriber but I see his section is called Jakz101 player pool. That’s very disingenuous considering from what I read on the other site that he played no qb’s that he mentioned and few others he put out there.

  • Rachelynn51912

I can see both sides of this.. and to be fair, his “player pool” column only had one player he actually played in the winning lineup. But you also have to think, he played 150 lineups, so im sure he had some variation of his picks somewhere right?

  • pointsmuncher

The reasons given for his final lineups not having his publicized picks aren’t actually doing much to sell player touting as a viable or valuable service. Unless the picks come out 30 minutes before lineup lock. Congrats to him on a personal level.

  • CleverGroom

I want to be Eric Crain when I grow up, AMA.

  • Jcb890

Crain getting an awful lot of hate for not doing anything different from any of the other “PROs” or “TOUTS” out there. Almost none of them play all of their own plays, it doesn’t matter whether their content comes out on Wednesday or Sunday AM.

Wait, so then why are we even paying for the advice and information if it’s written Wednesday, opinion changes as the week goes by and the articles aren’t updated, and we’re not told this prior to purchasing?

People are 100% within reason to complain about a touted premium service, just to discover it’s an admittedly bad product. Because that’s what you just admitted.

“How many of us have guys penciled in to use on Wednesday and end up on different guys by Sunday afternoon?”

Then why would ANYONE pay for that? Jeez.

“Now, let’s say we ask Mr. Crain and all the other writers to wait as long as possible to make sure the readers get the exact picks they like on Sunday afternoon. Once again we would have so many unhappy customers who want information sooner than that.”

Uh, no, you have unhappy customers who are legitimately not getting the information that they expect to get. Literally based on your admission.

  • CleverGroom

Honestly, I think you’ve got the wrong idea if you think you’re buying lineups from these pros. That’s not even allowed. They could get banned from DK or FD if they told you exactly who to play.

What you should be buying is insight into the process. You should be learning how to fish from these guys, not buying mackerel. What would be the point for anybody involved if Crain had tied for 1st place with 1,000 RG subscribers? Everybody wins $1,000 and a lifetime ban from DraftKings. Yayyyyyyyyyyy.

Learn how and why these guys are selecting their plays, both early and late in the week. Think carefully about why a guy might like Theo Riddick a lot more on October 30th than he did on October 25th. It’s not a super hard question—I pivoted to Riddick too. I just wish I’d pivoted more.

Learn from things like this. Then fish up your own damn mackerel.

I would be one unhappy customer if RG had its expert picks come out later in the week, and wouldn’t bother to look at them at all if they came out Sunday morning!

I’m very happy using them as an early look into players others consider to generally have decent matchups or otherwise be in good spots, and I build from there.

And I read the articles/picks 100% aware that those touting them could change their opinions over the course of the week.

Relevant content to the thread: Congrats to our most recent MM winner!

If someone subscribes to their service on Saturday, and they go to look at the content, wouldn’t they expect it to be current and up to date?

It sure gives that impression when they look at the projections and they see that part is updated. Along with other parts that are updated. But some parts aren’t? Why not?

I’m not saying the content should be released Sunday morning, or even Saturday. I’m not saying the free articles on this site need to be updated. I’m saying the ones that they tout and charge money for should be updated through Saturday and maybe one time on Sunday morning. But at least through Saturday. Otherwise, why should anyone pay for it, if it’s released Wednesday and only good for one or two days?

That’s a fair point, and, I agree. Given how much changes during the week, the picks should be updated, or should have a large disclaimer where they have not been changed. Given that all other “picks” content for the other sports is updated daily, the former should be doable.

If you want written content to be constantly updated, you better be willing to either pay a hell of a lot more money for the product or get written content from guys that don’t actually play. It should be understood that anything that comes out early in the week is a start for your research and you should take it and go from there. There is a reason that sites offer more shows and content throughout the week. Those, essentially, are the updates.

Congrats Eric! Glad to see one of the good guys take it down.
