Hey everyone! My name is Saahil Sud, and I’m currently #1 in RotoGrinders.com’s Grinder rankings and am first in the current TPOY leader board. I previously operated under the screen name MaxDalury but changed that on all sites on 2/1/16 to SaahilSud. I am one of the founders of the DFS strategy and content site rotoql – Rotogrinders reached out to me and I’m going to spend some time this week answering DFS strategy and multi-entry questions.

If you want to know a little more about me here are some interviews that I’ve conducted in the past:

    DKWC Video Interview

    Daily Fantasy Fix Interview

    wbur.org Interview

    MODERATION NOTE

Saahil is one of the highest volume players in the DFS industry and has been gracious enough to accept our invitation to answer questions from RotoGrinders users over the course of this week. We want to keep this positive. Strategy and multi entry questions are welcome. To prevent this thread from becoming negative we are not allowing questions on scripting. All forum rules apply and this thread will be moderated to ensure that the thread moves along in a smooth and friendly manner.

When people post things that are so obviously wrong or bad theory, do you ever find it tempting to correct them – or is that “don’t teach at the table”?
Or you just generally find it -EV to read most of the stuff online?

Generally avoid reading most stuff online and definitely don’t correct them. The average aptitude of people can be a bit scary/eye-opening

Was running the bases in Mil and sweeping off home plate in Cle (and other such contests I’ve seen you take down) the experience of a lifetime you had hoped?

Running the bases in MIL was just a way to force myself to get some exercise

Definitely adjust in most sports but each sport is a different animal. NBA/NFL will have more manual adjustments than MLB

Hi Saahil and RG – long time lurker, first time shitposter…

On a scale of DrewDinkmeyer to TommyG, how much emphasis do you put on BvP and why is TommyG the correct answer?

How many days is it appropriate for a professional athlete to take off after they just had a child?

Are you hurt when Ryazan2000 calls you a fish and scoops your H2H’s the day after a big win?

    and finally, a serious question…

Would you quit DFS if a pro team asked you to work on their analytics team?

Took me 4 days to recover after Ryazan called me a fish and took my money so that seems about right for a pro athlete after they had a child. Would not quit DFS to work with a pro team but if DFS is over then that may be something to consider

Maximizing ROI is definitely different than maximizing amount of profit. If I were trying to do the former I would play 1 lineup. I don’t have an answer for the exact # of teams but it varies based on competition, buy-in, and payout structure

Is this a bad question? Why not answered? Dont really care about what you spend your money on. Would hope this forum would be informative.

This is informative. I have learned that he is just like me except for the whole bankroll thing.

My question is, are you going to have time to research MLB today with having to refresh every 15 minutes and answer more questions? Or do you just stack Rockies like the rest of us and call it a day. :)

I stack coors with the best of them

Other than yourself who do you think is the best cash player in each of the following sports NBA, MLB, NFL? Do you or would you ever block another user on DK?

I block a couple of friends but if you win consistently against me in H2H you are welcome to my money :)

How often do you take a day off, with no DFS whatsoever? When you do, are they planned ahead of time or is it based on the DFS slate(s)? Thanks.

Taken 2(?) days off over last year and was because I was traveling or otherwise physically unable to play

  • hokie2009

seriously guys if you don’t think DFS pros spend all their money on drugs, food and vacations … get with the program!!

cars are toys for little boys! :) plus if you live in a metro a car is a nuisance

    love it max.

my question is: If I bought a rotoQL subscription and optimized your projections, how would the lineup produced differ from the lineup you are playing on a given night as your “main lineup” ? In a general sense … I’m assuming it wouldn’t be the same, but I’m wondering what explains the differences?

  • tom12345

For a while you were playing Vaughn Taylor each week; more recently you found success with bud cauley. Can you explain your reasoning behind both or either picks? Is it more or less, I asked my back-tested software to weight x stats and x information for x tournament and x player is who the software identified as most +ev.

Can you explain how rotoql will help me find success?
Do you use additional software besides what is offered at rotoql?
What software do u believe is absolutely necessary in order for you to be successful?
What are you relying on to determine whether to use x player in 100% of lineups vs. 98.5% vs. 67% etc.?

Prob unrealistic, but if you ever have legal questions, I’m willing to barter services/information/time.

Thanks a ton for taking the time to do this, Ma…I mean Saahil :-) We appreciate it, and I know the vast majority of the DFS community looks up to you & your accomplishments.

1 Q: Long-term, how do you think the industry should best balance the multi-entry vs. single-entry concerns between veteran & new players? Do you like the recent steps we’ve seen sites like DK & FD take, in putting out more single entry tournaments?

He’s living in Vegas to my knowledge. I think outside of PGA other sports were more of a hobby for him over the last couple of years
