    1. Should MLB allow direct buy-in to the playoffs every year? They have an interest in building stars so they want to make sure those guys are visible on the biggest stage. Also biggest roll (bank/pay) tends to correlate pretty well with best player/team. Is that a flawed analogy? Absolutely. But I think a lot of the poker guys tend to come in and expect things to be just the way they were with poker, and I don’t think that needs to be the case. If you want to make the case for DBI for championships you’ve got to make a better argument than a flawed analogy.

    2. I was just curious how you reconcile squeezing out small edges in game selection on Fanduel and DK, with not playing on any of the other sites that you know are overlaying. I was wondering how you came to the conclusion that was the best thing to do.

    3. You alluded to the fact that you are staked and swap equity in some situations. I imagine you have access to that through the poker community. Do you think there’s potential to have a more public market for staking and swapping in the future of DFS?

I finally got around to watching the original video and can honestly say the following:

    1. You’ve changed my mind on a couple things.
    2. You’ve opened my mind to a few other ways to think.
    3. I’m all of the sudden a big fan of yours.
    4. I like the way you think and I can say I have a solid history of knowing people who had the skill to succeed in sports gambling, but didn’t have the required mindset like you do.

Good luck, looking forward to future episodes.

Hi Assani. I had the pleasure of meeting you at the DraftKings Kickoff Bash in Miami. You and aejones knocked my team out of the giant beer pong tournament.

One thing that wasn’t clear to me from the first video…you said you had been winning big in golf for 3 or 4 slates before getting crushed by the Furyk withdrawal. I think you alluded to taking on maxdalury for the first time that week, and you probably increased your action, but it just wasn’t clear to me why you were so crushed by the loss. I mean, losing sucks for everyone (I would be in the fetal position after losing that much), but it seems like you should have still been up on golf from winning several previous weeks leading up to it.

You might have stepped it up so much that it erased prior gains. Or maybe you were in fact still winning on golf overall, in which case the question of interest becomes why would this particular loss be so crushing? You know you’re not going to win EVERY week. Anyway, it wasn’t clear to me which of these was the case.

For the Buy in to live finals i think a smart and effective way to have best of both worlds would be to allow direct buy in to people who have a certain amount of wins or maybe a certain win percentage over a set amount of games played? This way the guys in that elite tier who have like 6 tournament wins but didnt win a qualifier could be there.

Hey guys, I’ll try to respond to this thread when I can, but I probably won’t be able to get into too much back-and-forth regarding stuff like debating the DBI issue. Apologies if I don’t get around to answering everyone, but do know that sometimes I’ll see a good question and decide to use my answer for a future vlog instead of answering immediately.

Also I’ve gotten a few PMed suggestions for names for the show- If possible, post suggestions here in the thread, as I’d like to see what the public reaction to it is before committing to it.

Your back story is eerily similar to mine. I have a pretty successful poker background, and I also started DFS about a year ago. Though I’ve won some money, you’ve obviously had far more success than I have. Sounds like one of the keys to your success has been a group of friends you discuss strategy with on Skype. Your blog has motivated me to set up something similar for myself. If anybody wants to discuss intermediate to advanced DFS strategy over Skype, PM me and I’ll add you.

loved both videos but you are smart enough to understand that playing the best in a game you don’t even know(golf) is so much more -EV than the +EV you get from taking $ from $1/$2 h2hs. Pretty much every friend I have from poker had a lot of $ at one time and are now broke… We don’t sit around saying “damn, we should have grinded more $10 mtts”, we say “damn, we should have been more responsible with spending” or “shouldn’t have played out of my bankroll so many times”… Rayofhope/Runitup are heroes imo. giving up a tiny bit of EV for the good of the game isn’t the worst thing ya know

I’m still up on Golf overall. Regardless though, it was the single biggest loss I’ve had in 10+ years as a pro gambler and its not even close. And it came super unexpectedly(on first day of a 4 day PGA event). That hurts regardless of how much you’ve previously won.

    and now my opinion…

“Trust me it sucked everyday to see Condia took my stuff again” You experienced this feeling first hand and most people will get fed up and quit. Not everyone in DFS inspires to be a professional. I think it’s wrong to target the new person’s $20 deposit and drive them away. Not only are they pissed that they don’t have a matching $20 bonus in their account, they’re mad some guy just wiped the floor with them. People need that first win to feel excitement and want to play more. They don’t need some shark derailing their career before it can even start. It sounds like you quit scooping low stakes games, and I believe that is the right thing to do.

On the issue where you’re posting low stakes game, I’m on the side where I don’t think it’s that big of deal. Some people want to play the pros and analyze their lineups to get better. It’s a $1 lesson. However, most of the time it’s some new player walking into the lion’s den without knowing it. And out of those players, it does take a lot of bad luck to find your exact heads up game to lose that dollar.

Just my two cents of the 20 cent rake on my $1 heads up.

Assani- have been enjoying the vlog thus far, and have a question for your upcoming mailbag edition: there are many parallels that exist between the golden age of poker and the DFS golden age, which you’ve talked about or alluded to on a number of occasions. What are the major differences that you see between the golden age of poker vs. the golden age of DFS?

Thanks for starting this video blog. I was very interested to hear your back story, and to hear how you progressed through the DFS ranks. I have a couple questions for you, but I understand if you are not comfortable sharing this information. You mentioned that DK and FD invited you along with other high volume players to weekend trips and sporting events.

    1) Do you know how much volume in terms of $ entered into contests would classify you in this category?
    2) How much $ volume would you say you play over the course of the year?

Thanks, please keep the vlogs coming. Good luck with your move to CA.
