I tied with home_jjjk on draftkings ffwc qualifer, well the tiebreaker went to him because he entered the lineup before me which my opinion is crap. Now I can click on everyone else’s draftkings profile but his? Does this sound right? I’ve been sick to my stomach all day about losing like this. He gets ticket to New York I get 750 dollars. Draftkings scamming??

They should just sent them both. If I ran a daily company I wouldn’t even want to deal with this. Just send them both and make adjustments to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

If they wanted to do right for the customers sake, this is what they should do. It’s not like $60k is a lot of money to Draft Kings, in the grand scheme of things, and how much they make from rake DAILY.

Or at least give the guy $15k (last place prize from the FFWC). Sure it said it in the rules, if you dig down into the terms and search for it. I think the $15k is the only way to fix this for this unlucky guy. They can’t just put him into the tournament too, because it’s 180 players. That’s not going to be fair for everyone else in the Finals, to go up against an extra competitor.

DK GIVE HIM $15k NOW OR I QUIT DK FOREVER

Also in the future if they have a dumb rule like this, put it right in the lobby, and show every single entries last time stamp/entry time of every line up. At least you’d see what everyone else’s entry/last edit time stamp was.

I often add a quick lineup with the intention of making changes later in the week. He probably changed his lineup multiple times. You two should split all the money value which is over $30K each and stay home. It’s the fair way to do it but you get significant monetary compensation.

Its not dk scamming you. Its just a bs system they use. Who entered first should never be a tiebreaker.

  • LawnStar

Why can’t you see the persons name tho? Can anyone? Is that not strange?

Terrible set of circumstances that should have never happened. Negligence on the part of DK imo. Feel for you. Hope they do right, but it’s a business and it’s in the rules. I’ve lost Q’s by fractions of points. It sucks, 2nd place is no consolation in these things, especially on some BS technicality.

  • deactivated146213

He can see the persons name, He claims he can’t see a profile on DK, however there are no personal profiles on DK. Forget that point. The rules stated how the game was to be played, end coversation… Tough luck. Grow UP.

I’ve complained a ton to dk the past few days with them pretty much apologizing and saying that they really can’t do any more. I’ve honestly been sick to my stomach the past few days thinking about this. I had no idea a time stamp would be the tie breaker. They finally responded with this

    (Hi David,

The account holder of this account has been verified. I have escalated the error you are receiving to our technical team.

As a whole, I certainly understand that this is a frustrating situation, I have credited your account with 3 $1,500 tickets which you may use for the $4 Million Main Event on 12/24. Please stay tuned to see when this contest has been posted, and you will be able to enter the contest using your tickets.

I thank you for your patience, and if you have any questions please let me know.)

Yea it helps but man I’d still want a shot at that 2 million.

So you are feeling sorry for yourself for not reading the rules of a contest, and want DK to give you something for not reading, or understanding the rules? Get a life, grow up, go play something else!

Don’t be like that; have some empathy. It’s a really obscure rule that only applied to live final Qs that happened that particular week. It’s a horrible rule and it was extremely irresponsible for DK to run a Q with that rule in place on a 2 game slate. I hope DK gives him ~$31k and makes him whole.

Wow. Think about how many people are just drawing dead before the coin toss in that tournament. What a racket that is.

Again, how many pros use some sort of bots, legal or not, that immediately enter them into every tourney as soon as they open?

On a 2 game slate though, what if there was a 20 way tie for first? That is definitely a possibility with so much overlap, no?

Just wondering what DK should do if/when that happens.

This is a travesty, this should have never been the case and whether it’s a 2 or 100 way tie, it is ridiculous. I don’t care if it’s in their T&C that time of entry is the tie-breaker, because that is blatantly unfair. If anything, it should be decided RANDOMLY before something like time of entry is used to break the tie.

I have no idea about the ability to click profile thing, but that is strange as described.

SO STUPID! Read the rules moron!

Sometimes I don’t like the internet very much.

If you click on DK’s FAQ, and scroll down to ‘what happens if I tie’, it says: The money will be split. If it is a ticket, the value of the ticket will be split.

The only way to find this specific rule is if you click on the contest info, then click on the link to the promotions page, then scroll halfway down and click on the 6 pt font that says ‘Terms & Conditions’, then within the lengthy pop-up you will find this rule… which completely contradicts their FAQ.

I actually registered 8th for this contest since I remembered the rule from last year. But I couldn’t find it in writing (I missed the 6 pt font halfway down the page), and wanted to be absolutely certain of the rule ahead of time, so I emailed DK about it to clarify.

Here is the email I sent: “I want to clarify the rules on one of your contests regarding ties. This is for the NFL Primetime ‘Sunday-Monday’ two-game slate, LAST SHOT $10M World Championship Qualifier. $4 entry. I just want to clarify that if I tie for 1st place, and as long as I am not tied with one of the 7 people that registered before me, I will get the ticket.”

Here is their reply: “If there is a tie at the end of the contest, users included in the tie will evenly split the related prize pool. For example, if two users tie for 1st place, and 1st place pays $20 and 2nd place pays $10, we add the combine places then split that among the tied parties. Each would receive $15.00. If the prize is a ticket, the value of the ticket (or tickets) will be split. If you have any other questions, please let us know!”

Hmmm, wait, that is not right, so I emailed them again.

Here is my 2nd email on the same email chain: “This is the final spot for the Live Final. Are you saying that there would only be 179 entrants in the Live Final if there was a tie?”

Here is their reply (from a different DK employee): “If there is a tie at the end of the contest, users included in the tie will evenly split the related prize pool. Please let me know if you have any other questions.”

Those were 2 people who work for DK and who are paid to know the rules. Both of them were completely unaware of this rule. But the rules were posted, right? Everybody should have known, right? What about the freakin employees at their own company. The fact that DK’s own team wasn’t aware of this rule shows how completely obscure it is.

Finally with the 3rd email I sent they gave me the correct response. I actually emailed DK multiple times this year and last year about how terrible the rule is, and it was like they did not understand this was going to happen. I truly think they made a mistake and did not anticipate this rule coming into play. They did not understand that a tie on a 2-game slate was inevitable. I want to believe DK did NOT want this to happen, and it was just an oversight with their rules. I love DK, but this is completely f-ed up and they should never let something like this happen. Hopefully they make it right. Dude deserves half the ticket value and nothing less.

How would you feel if you were in thiis position? I watched Monday night game in excitement to the end, to watch 31k go into my account to wake up my wife to tell her the probable good news about New York this weekend. Then 15 min later watch the money go out of my account for dk to tell me that the tiebreaker is a time stamp and they would get back with me. 6 hours later they do to tell me that I lost the tiebreaker. Then to call your wife to tell her the bad news. It’s sickening, and haven’t slept the past few nights because of this. Until you’ve been in this situation I’d probably shut up, most of the people I’ve talked to about this situation thinks it’s wrong.

The contradicting Terms at different spots on the site, with the more player damaging version being essentially hidden behind several clicks, seems incompetent at best, and intentionally deceptive at worst. DK should honor the FAQ term and give this guy half the ticket value IMO.

Still a terrible way to lose out on a live final! With that said there is not much more you can ask for from DK. I think they have tried to make the best of a bad situation by rewarding you with those 3 tickets. Hopefully you put them to good use and get some redemption. Even though the rule was awful I think some props need to go to DK for doing that. They are probably the only site that would try and make it right. Good luck!

Makes it even worse since they literally took $31K away from you. That is really devastating man, I feel for you. I think the fact that they gave you $4,500 in tickets shows they know this wasn’t right. Pretty sure they never meant for this to happen to anybody, not that it makes it ok. In my experience they are reasonable and try to do things the right way. I really hope they wind up making you whole, that is a lot of money.

Yea, $4500 in tickets is a nice gesture, but it’s still bullcrap. The terms were buried as shown by other posters, the DK employees didnt even understand the rules, as shown by other posters, and DK went so far as to award this guy half the ticket value then take it away while telling him they would be in touch regarding the situation which means they knew they messed up big time.

I dont know the OP’s play style or entry fee history, but when you enter a $1500 contest, you are playing with THE BEST IN THE WORLD. The chances of cashing one of those tickets is slim to none if you are not experienced with entering a GPP of that entry size & fee. The best solution would be for DK to eat the 30K and give the guy 1/2 of the ticket value he tied for.

How would you justify giving the guy 30k when only the top 75 finishers of a 180 person field will walk away with 30k? Is that fair to all of those qualifiers? It’s a terrible situation and yes one they certainly regret. DK doesnt have to do anything and no matter what they did people will disagree. Good luck to the OP… you can turn one of those tickets into a nice prize. It’s been done many times before against the best fields.

  • wolfjb1

Daviddu316, I’m squarely on the “DK blew it and you got f*cked” camp. DK screwed up by not adequately anticipating this scenario, by twisting their Terms and Conditions into a pretzel, by putting $31K into your account and then yanking it. You got hosed. This happens in life. It sucks. It’s worse because it could have been prevented. You are a victim of their failure to properly plan.

I’m glad you have RG, where you can vent and rant and complain for a little while. Ignore the “you should have read the rules” trolls. I feel for you. Big time.

Now, let me tell you something. If you win the milli maker with those three tickets, I’ll feel a lot less bad for you, because complaining that you “only” won $1 million instead of $2 million, would be a bit over the top!

Am I the only one who thinks OP should just suck it up? I’m actually surprised at the amount of people here who are coming to this guys defense. Seems like there’s been an increase in people complaining for no reason.

It’s clearly states in their TOS that time of entry is used as a tie breaker.

Take your $750 and move on. Yea it sucks but DK doesnt owe you squat.
