I tied with home_jjjk on draftkings ffwc qualifer, well the tiebreaker went to him because he entered the lineup before me which my opinion is crap. Now I can click on everyone else’s draftkings profile but his? Does this sound right? I’ve been sick to my stomach all day about losing like this. He gets ticket to New York I get 750 dollars. Draftkings scamming??

FYI, by excepting these $1500 tix you are in essence absolving DK of any further responsibility. I hope you know that. If you attempt to engage in a legal dispute they would have grounds to say that your acceptance of this ‘compromise’ represented a settlement in the manner.

Don’t give the man false hope that there is any other resolution coming his way. And don’t encourage him to not use tickets that he should really use and hopefully make some money on.

I can’t think of a single legal basis for a claim, much as I agree that DK’s tie break policy under those circumstances seems wholly misguided. DK has the right to have the tie break be whatever they want.

Lol I was 100 percent right about that and completely right about this.

People agree to terms and conditions when they sign up for things but dont read what they are agreeing too. Not my fault

Dude you were 100% wrong, you told people the game would play right before lock. It didn’t. Anyone who read your message and believed in this forum (new users) lost money.

I don’t know if you’re intentionally misleading people or you’re just an idiot, but it really doesn’t matter because it’s bad for this place. It’s barely worth sorting through 10 useless/misleading posts to find that 1 helpful one.

OP I’m sorry for derailing your thread. The two users defending DK in this situation are clearly outliers. I’m really hoping you hit a nice payday with one or hopefully all of your tickets. Please post in this thread when you do!

Thanks man I appreciate it. Already reserved my spot so no damn time stamp gets in the way

Yep, that guy is one insanely lucky guy that benefited from DK’s rules and have literally everything go his way including the dk rules

Anyone know how fanduel does it? I have to make sure to enter dk qualifiers as soon as they open up from now on,, and I agree, it is a terrible way to split a tiebreaker. They could have some sort of other system that does it more fairly. Even an NBA H2H tiebreaker I feel is better.

Pretty sure it doesn’t matter what time you enter, it’s (for the 2 game tiebreaker on DK) is the last time you edit it.

  • Pitch120

You also have the right to not play. People constantly complain about the rules but enter anyway. Just dont play then

I agree. I also don’t think people are seeing it from the perspective of the other user. Imagine how he/she would have felt had they been made to do a tiebreaker and lose.

  • ranoa513

I don’t think anyone was advocating to retroactively change the rule for this contest to affect the other party. DK has to follow what their poorly thought out rule states. I think it’s good business for them to makes things right with the OP though. $4500 in tickets isn’t too bad, but I personally think they should have given him half the value of 1st and 2nd in that contest. A small price to pay for them for using such a ridiculous tiebreaker. And of course they need to do something different in the future. Not running the last Q on a two game slate would be a good start. I mean seriously, WTF?

Well then, if that’s the case then my work here is done.

  • Cliffsofdover

You can go ahead and report to your boss that the crisis is over and everyone at RG has an even better view of DK than before this happened!

  • Brodero

OP, did you make a lineup and see how you would have done in the FFWC?

Yea I built one but didn’t put a lot of effort into it like I would have if I was there. I would have won like 25k. It wasn’t that great of a lineup obviously lol

kinda curious how many other people played in the contest and didnt make any last minute changes because they thought about the rule.

never get an answer to that, I know but the other side of the coin statement.

Looks like the original poster got 3 free entries by complaint to DK and never cashed – well, he was not in the top 500 and only 510 spots got paid.

Ball don’t lie! …….. or should I say lineups don’t lie!

Just because they put it in the terms, doesn’t make it legal/right.

I would hire a lawyer. 31K (minus 4.5K paid out) seems like a reasonable number. No way DK would ever want this to go to trial.

I know it’s way hidden in the rules.

Nor would anyone want to retain a lawyer (and the costs therein) to fight this. Trust me, the DK lawyers are going to be better positioned than you would be. Right and wrong doesn’t matter in civil litigation. ‘Does it make sense to fight or settle’ is what matters in civil litigation.

The terms were awful, but they were clear. This is more about awful optics and shitty business practices, not fraud.

Haha, you know nothing about me.

I like DK/DFS a lot (even though I’m a losing recreational player). That doesn’t absolve them from robbing this player (not into their own pockets btw) of 31K in prize pool equity due to poor policies. I hope DK does well in the long-run and matures as a company, but players/the DFS community needs to hold them responsible when they put profits ahead of fairness.

He knows that you espoused a line of thought that has spawned our hugely, and ridiculously, litigious society.

The OP can do what he wants, but litigation here would be a huge waste of everyone’s time and money.

There was simply no “unfairness” here. There existed a poorly conveyed policy and a poorly thought out policy, but DK followed it to the letter. Had DK done otherwise, THAT would have been unfair.

Thank you. Suing here would be ridiculous and I think OP would get wrecked in court.

DK didn’t “rob” anyone of anything. In fact, they have OP more than he deserved!

What really ticked me off was the last line: “No way DK would ever want this to go to trial”.
