just a image http://prntscr.com/7bcsnb to re-enforce what the community has seen slowly happening with there eyes beginning with imo the weekly million maker, witch at the time the response from a large majority of the community was top heavy lottery unsustainable from a business perspective because to much money was being taken from the field and given by and large to 15 individuals.

Then after the NFL season ended and thing seemed to be going back to business as usually with FD consistently having the better gpp prizepools throughout the NBA and NHL season. As i prepared to follow my sports of choice known as niches to some of the communitty , hockey and golf i realized DK product was much better on both fronts as they have taken feedback from forums like this and got rid of the useless +/- stat and offered smart position eligibility, and as a Canadian that sees almost 0 FD or DK tv ads north of the border i also noticed draftkings ads popping up all over the place, the octagon, nhl boards, nba arenas ect. and thought to my self not much longer until they lead the industry in prizepools and traffic on a nightly basis and it looks as though they 100% do now http://prntscr.com/7zacmn

I was FanDuel only since I started until thIs past MLB saeson. Now I’m DK only. It is a vastly superior product and the only reason I didn’t make the switch sooner was brand loyalty.

When you grow up on Coca Cola, it’s tough to abandon it for RC even though RC is a far superior product.

    Fuck Pepsi.

  • leafs93

I agree, its frustrating because i saw some great early season returns running a gpp multi entry system in the squeeze and the lower entry rally and saw some amazing roi on the rally no surprise given the smaller field a lower score would go further up the top 5 ect, clearly bottom line oriented moves muddling the prizepool and still overlaying on a consistent basis (the only time i will put effort into building rosters there) becoming more and more DK only also myself. I dont know what analytic or algorithm is telling FD these are wise businesses decisions is clearly broken, at least from my perspective as a player.

  • deebarizo

    This is great.

I definitely like DK over FD for baseball. The win for pitchers is too random and having to choose two pitchers adds a layer of strategy. Also, DK seems to have less overlap in ownership because of tighter pricing and multi-position eligibility for some players like Miggy (1B/3B).

DK has better user interface especially for sweating games. Their lineups page is great. Nothing like that on FD last time I checked.

I played NBA on FD last season but I will definitely check out DK next season.

In other awesome fd business decisions, investing north of 1 million to sponsor one of the most disliked (http://boxingjunkie.com/2015/04/28/brennan-little-difference-between-floyd-mayweather-and-ray-rice/) boxers in history, only for the hole event to be a complete letdown and leaving many wonder why they just wased north of 100 usd for that and not so concerned with the company logo barley noticable on floyds belt and lets not forget the sick tweet he sent out for them didnt help with the overlay in that particulate contest or contest going forwards. (sidenote cookie to anyone that names of the company that sponsored the ring / ring girls without googling) solid use of our 8-13%…

Lol the read was a little painful because its all bunched up, but i agree this past year with the additions of all of these (niche) sports like mma, soccer, and now nascar bringing in lots of new customers its clear DK is thinking beyond the box. Not only that but imo their mlb product is by far superior, and the fact that DK offers all these other sports imo makes them easily the number 1 site. Now what DK needs to do is add snake/survivor type games and even more of the FD crowd will keep coming over to DK

The numbers say otherwise, according to FanDuel and the courts, but things are changing quickly. With some bigs jumping into the fray this summer, this situation will get interesting rather quickly! Evolution is key to relative longevity, unless that is not your objective. My guess is FanDuel may be getting early interest from a big to be purchased as is, with little need to change, but time will tell.

This is a pretty naive comment. The same “play both, play neither” logic can be applied to you reading or not reading this “painful” post. Also, it’s very obvious that there are plenty of people who care about the differences between the sites and potentially improving them, so your comment basically has no merit whatsoever.

Using the FD interface is what is really painful.

That thread just showed that more people, myself included, very much want FD to stay a one-pitcher site.

Why do people act like a choice has to be made? Many, many people enjoy playing both, and enjoy the differences between the two.

yeah i completely understand that part of it, im rattled by the lack of unique buyin amounts for the low stakes grinder, Field size matters alot when you look at avrg top 10 scores, with FDs new decision to run a large number of 10k+ entry gpps at the low stakes to secure there rake… pretty shortsighted decisions imo when its resulting in lost customers and visible evidence of dk taking steps past them through smart marketing, we will see where the 1pitcher site is relative DK in one years time… maybe FD is saving there push for the nfl season who knows.

  • MrFantasy

I’m glad people are going to DK. I used to play DK exclusively now I play mostly FanDuel. The games are way way easier on FD in my opinion.

  • theinnovative

They are both here to stay. One may be better than another in certain aspects but both DK and FD are a duopoly. The real winner is whoever successfully goes public first and its looking like fanduel.

I was going to say that a company in the red going public may be pretty bad, but then I see Facebook doubled in 3 years and it is still in the red.

Actually, your comment along with the OP make very little sense. The whole reason why having multiple sites is advantageous are the differences between the sites. You like one and not the other, so play what you like. As shocking as it may be to you, many people still disagree and prefer the other site, which is fine too.

You don’t want objective improvements, you want each site to cater to what YOU like. What exactly is the point in that?

  • steveospeak

I personally like both sites and feel both have positives the other could benefit from, but I’m okay with there being pros and cons from both.

I might lean more towards DK if I was more about some of these new sports options, but Golf is the only one I’ve really attempted and for now would only consider really low stakes. I just think in general it is cool (and very smart) of DK to offer these sports to the diehards to capture a larger fan base.

I think the biggest thing DK has going for them right now is their willingness to be more risky with overlay. They kept that millionaire maker going even though outside of the first week it never filled and I believe most weeks there was some overlay. Then over a week period they offered those major $3, $300, and $27 tournaments. None of those tournaments filled, and they had overlay in both the $300 and $27 tournaments. I’m sure DK hoped they would fill more, but I think they had to be prepared to have some overlay on those tournaments. Had they wanted to ensure there wasn’t they could have spread those games out or eliminated some of the other GPP options on those days, but I really don’t think they did that.

I understand FD shouldn’t just being doing things to lose money and offer tournaments that will almost guarantee to not fill, but I think from time to time they could offer some more interesting tournaments, especially with NFL coming up. I loved their $25 tournament, but I do feel the stakes will need to be raised for them this year as I’m sure DK is looking to do the millionaire maker every week this season.

One thing I do really like with FD is their mini-tournaments at various price points. Obviously the stakes aren’t as high, but they are nice to throw in a little extra money to since they are out of a much smaller pool of teams.

  • MrCalzone

    I love RC.

Ultimately, as players, we should only hope there is a 1A and 1B in the space with both of them being relatively close. We benefit by both sites having competition. DK and FD have down tremendous things (especially in the last two years) and we are in an amazing time for the DFS industry.
