The Illinois DFS Bill made it through the committee today. It was an awkward hearing with strong opposition from the gaming board and local casinos, but had enough support to pass.

The bill made it through committee, not the full House, on a 9-4 vote. I understand the House votes on it tomorrow.

Do either of you have specifics such as the bill number? I’ll be sending personal emails to both my state Representative and senator and all residents should do the same. The more specific details, the better.

I’d say Drury is a little over the top for sure… http://www.rebootillinois.com/2016/02/29/editors-picks/scott-drury/drury-are-daily-fantasy-sports-the-new-tobacco/53674/

A lot of legislators want to make names for themselves by impeding progress and being pricks. No different here in PA where a few sadistic pricks pissed and moaned over MEDICAL marijuana. Good news is the Annual Take No Prisoners Blanket Ban was not drawn up in our legislature. Bad news is I expect some members of both parties will poo poo good DFS legislation if it comes about.

What is needed from the full vote to pass? Does anyone know? Is it 50+% or 2/3rds?

    50%

If the bill passes both the house & the senate, it will go to the governor & he has 60 days to either veto it or sign it into law. If he were to veto it, the bill can still go back through the house & senate and the veto will be overridden if the bill gets a 3/5 vote by both.

Michael Madigan is really into Esports DFS; I don’t see this bill being a problem.

So acoarding to the bill, you can only enter 1 contest with 12 or less players, 2 entries with 12-36 entries and 3 entries with 36-100 entries?

Does it mean total or in each contest?

If I am interpreting this correctly, then that means no GPP tournies for the most part.

“Fantasy sports contest operators shall not allow fantasy sports players to submit more than 3% of all entries in any contest involving more than 100 total entries.”

Thus, it appears GPPs will continue to be okay, you just can’t enter more than 30 in a 1000 entry, 15 in a 500 entry, etc.

PA has been surprisingly light for Penn National contributions especially compared to the late 1990s and early 2000s. The PGCB Report is due next week and we shall see how much influence Penn National has on it.

I also noticed a large amount to MO politicians and they passed a bill so there maybe no correlation.

Awesome news! Is this headed to the governor or is there another vote to be taken before that?

Yeah, still major hurdles before going to the governor, but the momentum is good.
