What are the pro’s / con’s of the two big sites?

If you could change anything —- what would it be and why?

I’m all for discussing things that are wrong but we also would need to think of solutions.

I have a feeling “late swap” is going to be a popular answer … and it is my initial thought too.

I like DK’s LU construction and scoring but prefer FD’s website and app. They’re much cleaner and much, much more user friendly. DK is very cartoonish in my estimation and not nearly as neatly organized as someone with OCD like me would prefer.

I would change the ownership and/or people that are running these two sites. Why? Because their inept management and bro style handling of these businesses are the primary culprits to why DFS is in jeopardy. If DFS ceases to exist, they will be the underlying reason…not the regulators or govt.

What I’m saying is that if there are measures that can be taken to avoid variance, why not implement them?

Counting only regulation is simple and puts everyone on an equal playing field.

I think this is a terrible idea. Certainly hope there’s as small of a portion of people who want this as I think there is.

Merge the UK with the US player pool on FD. It is crazy that they dont, you will never attract enough UK players long term with tiny prize pools!

More “Survivor” type Contests. Personally I think a lot of players (especially casual players) like contests which are 3-4 GPPs in one top 80% progress type of thing.

Love this….more survivors would be awesome. If they were a more regular thing they would fill more often. I would love if they even had one NBA survivor a week. Start it on Monday night, end it on Friday night and advance like 75% of the field through each round. I would be all about that.

Fanduel withdraw policy. Should be able to take your money out no matter what. After all it is your money.

What about the policy do you not like? Are there times when people are unable to withdraw?

Yup read it carefully. You can only withdraw “winnings”. Had a withdraw cancelled last week because I wasn’t in the positive and had to contact service and get a check issued.

Need to make ownership publicly known. That type of transparency is what we need to allow this game to be accepted by the masses that think it’s a scam.

Multi-positional eligibility will have to become a standard in NBA at least. The game has changed and DFS needs to change with it.

By my count, there have been 43 overtime games so far this season. 6 were 2OT games. 1 was a 4OT game. (http://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2017_games.html)

Each team has played an average of 50 games so far this season. That’s 1500 games played total across all teams. (http://www.basketball-reference.com/leagues/NBA_2017.html)

Rounding up, 3% of all games this season have been overtime games. Why change everything for 3%?

EDIT: I realized the OT games count both teams while the total played does not. That makes it 6% of all games played. Point still stands.

Agree with the second pitcher on FD which is why I play MLB exclusively on FD. No issues with withdrawals but the “wait period” is annoying on FD. DK is usually same day which is perfect.

My point still stands. It’s an easy fix and makes it more of a skill game.

This really won’t matter if “teams” continue to pool together to circumvent said entry limits. The greater problem is the gray area of “rules and guidelines” which both sites refuse to clarify or address. They don’t want transparency, because they don’t want to limit their preferred players and the rake they generate. Once again, the site management and their handling of nearly everything is the core issue.

I happen to think the DK MLB product is fantastic as is. Nothing needs to be changed. Having 2 pitchers is nice as you’re not completely screwed if one pitcher bombs. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve cashed in a GPP where my SP1 gets a negative score but then my SP2 picks up the slack.

5 man stack limit is also perfect. 6 was too much as it benefited those with massive bankrolls. The meta has also changed. Prior to last season, all you saw in GPPS were 6 man stacks. Now I see more 4/4 rosters or just not stacked teams.

Jon Aguiar, please don’t change anything!!!

    I only play on DK.

Count stats that only happen during regulation. I’m a purist. If DFS is going to be labeled as a skill game, let’s make sure skill is needed in every facet. Predicting OT or extra innings isn’t a skill. Slow paced NBA games shouldn’t be fantasy gold mines because they go an extra 5 minutes. Studs in bad matchups shouldn’t hit 6x+ because they get more usage in extra time.

More SINGLE entry 50/50s. Those used to be my bread and butter. Then DK decided that profits come before the growth of the industry. Now we have multi entry HUGE double ups dominating the lobby. Yuck.

I tend to overthink things so I can’t believe I never thought of the OT thing.
I’d certainly be in favor of that. Someone above mentioned it only being 6% of the games so leave it, but you can just as easily say why let 6% of games be more valuable than the other 94%.
There are a few nights a year that certain games essentially break the slate. Why not eliminate that since it isn’t something we necessarily factor in.
Now having said that this would be low on my list of priorities, but it’s clever, simple and I don’t understand anyone arguing against it. The only argument I can see is that you like when you get lucky and capitalize on OT, luck being the operative word, because that at that point your playing DFS like the lotto.

I won’t get too deep into my suggestions because lord knows I go on tangents because the duplicate lineup-lineup sellers make my head explode. So I’m pro anything that stops that.

Other things that seem to have taken away my profitability – min payouts and structures as a whole. I’d like to see each site go back to previous years structures.

Seems high rollers in the quarter arcade seems to constantly turn players off, so for the good of the long term growth I’d like to see some regulation there.

Creativity is a good thing. Now that it’s bee harder to profit personally I find myself getting burned out after doing this virtually everyday for a few year straight.
I get excited now at things like multi-sport, survivor, unique payouts, gimmick roster construction, etc.
That along with more creative promos are a real positive.

  • Mod518

require unique lineups for multi-entry double ups, shift focus to single entry and 3 max contests, CSV on FD, better player rewards systems, lower rake for cash games.

    3) This is more of a legal change, but I don’t understand why legalized online poker (in the states where it is so) are allowed to go over the prize pool, but DFS can not.

I never understood this concept either, you would think they would want the prize pools to SMASH the guarantee, and just weight each payout more.

  • WidumBoise

I miss the days of online poker where you could get like 27% RAKEBACK

  • BloodGame

+1 to eliminating OT stats. Never though of it before, definitely makes sense.
