Does anyone know why the Indians play an hour earlier than most other night games?

They are trying to be more family friendly this year and also invigorate the area around the stadium (restaurants, etc.).

This was a pilot program last year and they must have liked the results, since they expanded the number of games with this start time by quite a bit.

    10-4. Thank you

They are supposed to go back to normal after this month. Had something to do with the School kids and allowing them to attend games and get home before midnight.

theseige had a truly awful take on today’s podcast, saying it wouldn’t be so bad for DFS if a couple other teams were doing it. I guess he meant so there could be a separate slate, but either way, no, it would be much worse having more teams excluded from the main slate. So let’s hope no other teams go this route.

He also liked Hughes the other day….

Would not mind if the West Coast teams decided to move up to 6 local time. good chance we get all the lineups before lock then :D

Not that I don’t believe you, but I was under the impression they did it because they knew that the Cavs would be home during the playoffs in May, and they wanted to avoid the logistical nightmare that would happen if the Cavs and Indians were both home at 7PM EST. Instead of only rescheduling games after seeing the Cavs playoff schedule (because the MLB schedule is made far in advance), they just preemptively moved their home weekday May games to 6:05 PM knowing that some of them could conflict with Cavs home playoff games.

That said, I can’t find a link, and you did, so odds are it’s “family friendly” FTW.

The Royals did this as well for a few games.

I can’t think of many things that bother me less than a 14 game slate instead of a 15 game slate.

Might as well complain about Friday noon Cubs games as well. (If you are bothered by this, of course)

  • StanHalen

Clearly the Indians are doing this to help maintain Yan Gomes cover identity as mild mannered RG contributor Britt Devine.
