I loved this response on Twitter:

Could we at least get side action with Smylie Kaufman?

    I’ll take Bowdo :)

  • dangasin

Bowdo laughing all the way to the bank with his $7 million career earnings. He probably retired mentally after his second win and is just playing golf for fun like other retirees; except on world class courses, and probably for free. Not a bad gig!

They have a tourney on FD called Hi-Lo that is a $10 buy in and dead last nets you $150. Already 4 WDs you can play on there for a guaranteed 0 from 4 guys. Not entering but thought I would just post here in case anyone wants to give it a shot lol.

geezus, last week..I liked about half the field and this week, I have 20 in my player pool. Most are high salaries. I cant make 150 LU’s I would be stretching for 20. I Need that Norman Xiong salary this week.. Going with some Dru Love too. I think that this week would be a good fade. Thank god its Monday, gonna start all over and see if I can change my mind.

Pga released schedule for next year, link below. I have mixed emotions at this point. I understand the moving of the pga Championship to earlier date and there overall goal of finishing main season before football. Part that hurts me initially is all the majors plus the players championship along with the WGC are all bunched together thus hurting several of the other tourneys as the top tier will most likely avoid them now. Fortunately for golf the youth influx is in full effect and the fields should only get stronger even without the studs. I really think Valspar and Honda are going to get hit hard due to were they fall.will be interesting to see how all plays out.

I usually always factor CH somewhat each week, but it seems to be more relevant at the TPC Deer Run. However, Brian Gay has been playing fairly well lately, but his recent CH here is terrible. This is surprising since he is one of the more solid putters on tour, I would think he would have success here.

Probably gonna fade, early ownership projections have Gay at 12%.

Agree on that, the Honda is going to take a big hit. Following a WGC and three weeks prior to the Players, no one is gonna play four weeks straight with the fourth week being the players.

    Some FWIW from golfstats.com

“ 7 of the last 11 winners of this tournament were ranked in the top 20 OWGR. The only ones not in the top-20 of the world rankings were Jordan Spieth (120th) in 2013, Brian Harman (115) in 2014, Ryan Moore in 2016 who was 59th the week of the Deere and last year with DeChambeau who was 144th.

Since 1995 only 10 of the winners led after the 3rd round.

9 of the last 18 winners won their first PGA event here.

Number of birdies made each of the last 5 years: 1,930 in 2013 and 1,844 in 2014, the most of any course on the PGA Tour in ’14 while in 2015 the course gave up 1,803 birdies. In 2016 1,747 birdies were made while last year there was 1,805.

Last year the TPC Deere Run was the 38th hardest course (out of 50) on the PGA Tour playing to a 69.75 average.

In 2016 the TPC Deere Run was the 39th hardest course (out of 50) on the PGA Tour playing to a 69.90 average.

In 2015 the TPC Deere Run was the 43rd hardest course (out of 52) on the PGA Tour playing to a 69.648 average.

In 2014 the TPC Deere Run was the 42nd hardest course (out of 48) on the PGA Tour playing to a 69.764 average.

In 2013 the TPC Deere Run was the 36th hardest course on the PGA Tour playing to a 69,397.”

Good Luck to everyone this week.

Last day of the Players is on St. Patrick’s Day….Outstanding. 17 should be a blast. Now add the 1st and 2nd rounds of the NCAA being in Jacksonville 3/21/19 and 3/23….might need to just take 2 weeks vacation then.

Personally I liked the move to May vs when it was in March before. Weather can be hit or miss at that time in the area.

Strange to look at it. I do think the Memorial loses out being pinched between 2 majors.
No more Houston Warm up for the Masters..

In the long run, I am sure the players will like it, allows them to pick and choose and move across the country in an organized fashion.

Wonder if the PGA is now big enough to double up another couple weeks like they do with the Puerto Rico Tour ?Just saying they could maybe do an invitational / Web / PGA tour or two through the year. The scheduling is becoming extremely difficult with the WGC. Thus, on two of the WGC offer a top 50 WEB and remained of PGA tour guys a shot. If an elite so chooses to take the lesser route and not the WGC, so be it…

Like you guys write, the Honda will get pounded, but many guys dont play Mexico because they are caught in the middle of great and tour card. Allow them to play honda with top 30 Web Contenders… Wouldn’t it be better to watch the young talent get some experience vs the 45 year old jorneyman on a sponsors exempt.

Andrew Putnam anyone ? Never thought I would type that…

I don’t think the Memorial will get hit that hard. It’s in the middle week of 3 between the majors so players like Tiger will have a week of rest the week after the major and before the next one while playing the Memorial in between.

I am curious to see what this new fall schedule next year will look like. I think there will be many events that will entice the big names to come out and play a little.

  • dgriff

I did notice on the schedule that Tiger’s event in DC got moved to Detroit which I think was already announced. The Greenbrier also isn’t on the schedule but I read that it will be moving to the Fall so while it will skip a Tour season it won’t miss a calendar year.

  • Dunzor

Interesting, just read the article on pgatour about Dylan Meyer getting diagnosed with UC last year and how it affected his game. As someone with Crohn’s myself I know that untreated you are definitely in no shape to be a competitive golfer, so the fact that he still had good success makes me think now that he’s being treated he’s only gonna get stronger and improve. I think I’m gonna have to play him just for the narrative reasons on top of the fact that this is like a home game for him after graduating from U of IL.

Greenbrier and Houston will be played in fall 2019.

sorry if been discussed but any thought moli mails it in this week? mayo said he’s playing to fulfill the play a tourney you haven’t played in 4 years rule. maybe he doesn’t care a bout the cut so much as more rest for the open, but then again he prob has to wait til sunday to go on the charter anyways?

This gets brought up a lot and really isn’t a narrative I’d worry about. These guys are pros and they’re still gonna use the week to tune up their game and would prefer to head in confident off a strong finish than a MC. The only time I worry about these pre-major events is if a guy has had a lingering injury in which case I usually avoid since then they may actually be inclined to cut their week short and rest if they aren’t in contention early on. I dunno if Moli can keep his crazy hot streak going but I wouldn’t fade based on the ‘mail it in’ theory

    question to the forum –

So Kevin Na is a stand up guy with a sense of humor and someone you can like. Someone who swears like a dock worker when he misses a Putt whether he is winning or losing.

Should it change the way we treat him in the Forum?

My take is NO…He is a rat bastard because of DFG and his WD’s and his seeming uncaring for my money when I roster him. Sure he is a great person, Most all of the people we trash for DFG are great people.

not criticing you Nick, just a question.

That was the reason I disliked him in the first place; DFG that is :)
