      RG Overall Ranking

hearing a lot of conflicting data about proximity anyone know which are accurate. ive heard a range including 50-175 but everyone had something different, some said most shots under 100 some 100-150? just trying to figure out what stats i should focus on in regards to proximity

I focused on 100-125 while factoring in 125-150. The guys who excel at 100-125 won’t leave themselves less than that.

I wonder what these sites use as criteria to list a player as OUT. I have a bunch of casual buddies still sending me lines with streel in them

Niemann? Added to the open field, does this downgrade him for those playing him this week?

Also this sounds like a euphemism for something.

It does for me. Back to the drawing board!

I’m trying to avoid anyone playing over the pond but I really liked him before the news.

This seems to be a common misconception in golf. The Monday qualifiers are not played on the same course as the tournament so seeing these usual crazy low scores every week doesn’t mean anything. However for TPC Deere Run there is tons of data and history to show it will be an easy birdie fest course.

This Monday qualifier was played on a nearby course called Pinnacle Country Club.

Rarely mentioned and most don’t know that A lot of tournaments will have a pre-qualifier the week before for pros and amateurs without any type of status. There are often 60-80 guys playing for a few spots to get into the actual qualifier the next week (the week of the event).

Last year I mentioned this when I was riding a hot Tyler McCumber in a PGA event who had won the pre-qualifier for an event then went to an event on the LatinAmerica Tour and got a top 5 then came back and won the qualifier. Think it was either for the Dominican event or a Florida event.

I guess there’s a chance he pulls out of things go badly but there’s also a history of guys playing well here before heading over. I’m not going to let something like that scare me off him

Without that motivation? Definitely. I was favoring Hovland anyway, but this just cements it. I’m definitely envisioning Hovland in Ireland next week.

Nice – I thought that was a weird price point as they are usually $50+up

I threw one in so you’ll have to fight me for it 🥊

With all the attention on the young guys, I’m really liking CH3, Harman and Palmer. Great ball strikers and all 3 are running some decent form.

I like Niemann but his putting has been spotty (Hovland too) and Wolff and Morikawa just played the tournament of their lives.

I always play Sungjae but he has been propped up by his putting and not his ball striking. I’ll have some, but I’ll be light.

Might be the old guys turn this week.

I normally am not a big Hossler guy, but at a place where it could be a putting contest, I can see him doing well. “Should” avoid big numbers here, plus last week he actually gained in Approach. Anyone else on him?

Liking Armour same price as well.

What’s the reasoning behind playing satellites? The rake seems about the same as other tournaments. I see the cost (you give up flexibility in that you’re constrained to play a particular tournament), but I don’t see the benefit yet.

You could just play regular tournaments (including the 10 x multiplier or whatever) and then use those winnings, as you wish.

Is this more about psychology (justification) than about math?

Open DK Lobby, looks at player pool

And I’ll keep my powder dry for The Open.

  • eruthruff

Ah, I figured out what happened. There were a few weather delays and the latter part of round 2 was pushed back to Saturday. So I’m guessing that a few guys who weren’t going to make the cut decided to go home early. That explains why there were so many WDs and partial round scores.

The only one that might have had anything to do with The Open was Bryson. But even he was +3 in the first round when he called it quits (with an eventual cut line of -3).

Then there’s the question of whether the guys who had already qualified for The Open weren’t trying hard at the John Deere. Below are all of those players from 2018 (Micheal Kim is excluded because he qualified based on winning the John Deere), along with how they finished relative to expectation (based on recent rounds…my numbers). Five did better than expected (negative numbers) and eight did worse, if we include Bryson. So there’s a slight trend towards “packing it in”, but the sample is obviously too small to draw any conclusions.

    Bronson Burgoon -2.6
    Matt Jones -1.9
    Patton Kizzire -1.3
    Francesco Molinari -0.8
    Zach Johnson -0.2
    Austin Cook 0.0
    Kelly Kraft 0.2
    Ryan Moore 1.1
    Chesson Hadley 1.3
    Chez Reavie 2.0
    Sunghoon Kang 2.3
    Siwoo Kim 2.6
    Kyle Stanley 4.3
    Bryson Dechambeau 3+ (DNF R1)

I don’t necessarily play the 10x multiplier but most of the tickets are greater (or at least close to 10x) and I’d imagine similar scores can win. I think people usually compare them to GPPs for “bang for your buck”. Usually a 4x-5x win in a GPP will get you a ticket (depending on contest size). They can also be pretty cheap. I guess for you that could be playing the “microbooster” but that just doesn’t excite me as much for whatever reason.

In the end it’s always a personal preference thing. Also with “tickets” you can’t spend that money elsewhere ;)

Oh also if chasing achievements on DK this is a great week for BOFR as a showdown achievement. We should see a lot!!!

  • Brandon6385

I woke up this morning feeling confident, now I’m not sure if I can play Neimann now after being added to the Open field.

I have no worries about a Niemann WD but I sure won’t be heavy on him (wasn’t going to be anyway with his putting).

ZJ trending toward under 15% ownership w/ this course history? Thoughts?
