Mito Pereira – I dont know, didnt even go and look at him. I cant believe the salary on I guy I never heard of.

Whats up with Stricker @7700. I am sure he is going to get ownership, His CH is phenomenal with a back to back to back win here….going way back. He is a full fade for me and I should go look at what the heads up and 3 ways are just to pounce on him being close to last. ( Not a good record lately at picking a pig publicly. but he is mine this week)

What’s up with Mito Pereira? Anyone knows if he’s legit?

I have a few hundreds left from NHL and I fully intend to burn some this week!

Was the worst putter at the Rocket last week but still salvaged a -1 (missed cut). Seems like a copy of fellow countryman Niemann who is a great ball striker but took a full season before realizing you MUST have a short game at these PGA Tour courses.

When you MME, are you maxing? So, when you play the MiniMax are you entering 150 lineups?

From my experience it is hard to make money week to week or even month to month only MMEing GPPs. You are really looking for a few big hits a year to be profitable. I have been MMEing for about 6-7 years now across a bunch of different sports. I have had some losing YEARS. Lifetime, I have a very healthy profit.

I have recently pivoted my MME strategy to not max but to play about 2/3s of the max in a tournament. So 100 instead of 150. I find I am profitable much more often and I think I still retain most of my win equity. I also am mixing in more 50/50s, single, 3 max in the place of those other 50 lineups and that’s probably part of it too.

I do 100% agree about the pay structure in these things starting to suck big time.

The last four weeks I did 150 LUs almost as an experiment to see what the possibilities were. I partially used an optimizer but I made sure to make at least 30 LUs by hand. (Not the US Open though.)

In those three weeks I had two weeks of losses, but they were sort-of understandable because I still ended up with a low 6/6 rate and I don’t think I had the winner on either. But this one I beat the field on 6/6 by a pretty hefty margin (11-12% vs. 5%) and I had several that were flirting with taking it down. Ultimately Joker’s bogey on the 73rd hole was the nail in the coffin, but even had he won I would have struggled to double my money despite multiple Top 100 (I think) LUs and a 5/6 rate that also beat the field. I would have needed to get all six in the Top 10 to win, and all it took to go from a big win to a piddly win was like one or two golfers falling to the Top 25 vs. the Top 10.

If I project this out all year, I’d need to basically replicate this 3 weeks out of every 4 just to break even or modestly grow the bankroll (i.e. 3 slight wins for each loss), not counting “taking it down”. That’s crazy. I believe in the past it was more doable with the old pay structures, but now they’re so top heavy you almost have to win in order to be net positive overall. This applies to the Minimax – I’m not sure about the $3 or other high-end contests. I believe the advantages of MMEing are more significant there.

In the past I used to do a 20, 40, or 60 LU strategy. I do realize that at some level when you make 100 LUs, there is one LU you like 100th best, and why not play a LU you like better? That’s where the optimizer came in for me. I was hoping the optimizer might create LUs using my golfers I might not have thought up had I made them by hand. Maybe that’s where 100 LUs come in – make 30-35 LUs by hand, and the rest by an optimizer using your golfer pool.

This week I’m going to do 20 LUs and do some strategies that worked for me in the past (play 1 golfer 100%, 2 cores of 10x LU apiece) and see what happens. I really don’t like doing it – last week I probably would have done it with Bryson, and would have lost everything. I’d vastly prefer doing real MME. But unless a Top 100 finish means you’re almost certainly getting 3x your money, I don’t see how it’s sustainable unless you finish Top 5 3-4 times a year.

I looked up the MiniMax contest last week.

    in: $75
    Out: $85.66

    59,453 overall entries

    Top 6 entries:

    264th $4.16
    453rd $4.00
    563rd $3.00
    617th $3.00
    651st $3.00
    743rd $3.00

All of these entries were in the Top 2% of ALL entries in the Minimax last week. And I made a pittance. Tell me how this isn’t complete shite.

Thanks! Yep it took a few events before Niemann started to compete.

@timusbr: Stricker could be a pivot I guess, but I love new names at low ownership. I missed out on Higgo.

Guillermo “Mito” Pereira Hinke: A sleeper from the Korn Ferry. Don’t know what he’ll do, but I’ll have him in a few.

    It is shite.

It is effectively winner takes all.

    Play accordingly.

Stricker is playing incredibly on the Champions Tour, not sure that will translate to the deeper tees this week

I am not on Stricker this week.. But, I will say, in his last 5 starts on the PGA Tour he has a 44th at a major, top 15 and a top 5 where he went 17 under. More than you can say about most guys in the field. Combine that with his course history.. Being a single lineup guy, I already have a different course horse.. but totally see why people will be on him.

  • lfn1992

Phil Mickelson was also tearing up the Champions Tour. Just sayin’.

I see some folks here strongly backing the “don’t play a GPP unless you’re maxing it logic; you’d be better off putting your fewer lineups in a smaller max contest.” I seem to remember getting shot down by a few people a few weeks ago for similar statements.

Anyhow, really just came in to get thoughts on Seamus vs. Maverick? Thanks!

I have Seamus winning this tournament so there’s that!

Another bad week last week with a mountain of MC’s but there’s always this week

Again playing 25 LU’s in the JD Mini-Max and since the EURO doesn’t have a Mini-Max I’ll play 20max in the Quarter as my first time playing anything more than SE there

JD Winner: Russ the Bus Henley
    EURO Winner: Scheffler

JD Fade: over 10K and under 7K
EURO Fade: over 10K and under 7K

    JD Sleeper: Party Marty
    EURO Sleeper: Fichardt

I’m gonna miss the 2.5K crowns for the EUROS soccer Ironman since the contest I entered yesterday didn’t run :(

actually looking forward to this tournament, 50th anniversary since it began

Went to this tournament in 2015 on the Friday. Very nice course with several holes in the trees for shade, convenient, and great people. We followed along with Justin Thomas on most of his front nine. Meet his cousins and was front and center watching him. He had a minimal following that day so it was super intimate. The area is really nice with lots of options for accommodations and food. We had an awesome dinner in Rock Island on Thursday night, stayed in Bettendorf, and drove 2 miles to the Isle Casino in the morning to take a free shuttle to the tourney. We never had to wait in traffic or lines at the course. The people in this area are extremely friendly, hence being in the midwest. If you live close you should check it out for those reasons.

He is willingly skipping the Senior US Open which he won last year to compete at the Quad Cities Open. He’ll be motivated.
True story : I met him, his sister, and brother in law in Helen, GA years ago while tubing down the Chattahootchee River. Totally by accident, my wife just happened to crash into their tubes and a conversation began… nice people.

I’m already in Open mode, so I’m just going with a single entry this week. If it wasn’t for ironman, I’d probably skip this week. I went to the PGA Leaderboard and saw that 5 of the 6 golfers from my HM last week were playing, so I tried plugging those 5 in. It only left me with 6,000, ugh. If only there was a 6K guy worth playing.

A good chance of rain Friday. Not sure which split that may help.

Maybe this would help…Take a look at Jason Bohn and see if he is worth a play. @6000. I have him in a couple, but I got 30 LU’s not 1.

I thought about him and am now looking into him. Only his 5th PGA start since 2019. His mom usually caddy’s for him, but this week he’s suppose to have a pro caddy…lol

He was a stud at Duke and was even on the 2019 Walker Cup Team.

What the hell, I’ll plug him in my single bullet and curse him when I end up with a 5/6.
