June is not the most active sports month of the year. With the NBA and the NHL having wrapped up their regular season’s and the NFL still a few months away, there’s a lot of reason to not think about sports and/or DFS. (No disrespect to NASCAR or PGA, but MLB is the only daily game this time of year.)
Despite this, we still had some amazing blog posts in June. While there weren’t as many posts as usual in terms of quantity, I was blown away by the quality of what was published. A huge round of applause for the winners this month and for everyone who took the time to publish posts. An extra pat on the bat is in order to all of you for working hard during the slow summer!
If you’re a regular reader of the RotoGrinders’ blogs, then our June 2017 Blogger of the Month could need no introduction. It’s one of the blogging GOATs, “joeycis”!
Joey’s blog concept is simple; he fires one lineup into some GPPs and breakdowns his decision making process and the outcome of said decisions. Since many people are single-entry/single bullet players, I highly recommend following Joey’s posts!

Our runner-up for Blogger of the Month this June goes to “jedi_pred”, who you’ll recognize from his blogposts that feature a picture of a busted up baseball with the words “Common Sense” superimposed over it.
This photo is very telling, as “Jedi_Pred” preaches common sense, the importance of trusting your gut, and warns of paralyzing your process with too much analysis.
There is no denying that the Internet is a big place and there’s a ton of information out there. Sometimes, this information can be “a bit much.”
Check out Jedi_Pred’s post here, as he explains this better than I do!
I am a sucker for a good laugh, and “cyork01” really got me here with his post entitled Monday Schadenfanatics.
“Cyork01’s” post is a simple homage to “schadenfreude, which is the German word/concept of ‘harm-joy’ or pleasure derived from the misfortune of others.”
Just read it. You will laugh, I promise you. Thanks for thinking outside the box here, “cyork01”!
Best New Blogger was a fairly easy choice for me this month, as “Yousif” came in with two posts at the end of the month that were absolutely tremendous.
His pieces, both titled Mental Models in DFS are really interesting reads. It’s some of the most heady stuff you’ll read in relation to DFS, so I would definitely recommend reading slowly and while focused.
I really hope “yousif” continues this series, as I would love to see and learn more from him!
I love when writers talk about past results, slumps, and the psychological aspect of DFS. It’s one thing to tout picks and make predictions, but it’s another to go back and analyze a series of slates and note what you did right and what you did wrong.
Darkknight007 did a great job in his post “The Daily Grind of Fantasy Sports” breaking down some ways that DFS players can burn themselves out and make repetitive mistakes over and over again. It was truly an insightful read and I certainly learned something!
