Would anyone play KBO DFS if it were offered by FD or DK?

Very nice of you to post this. If I could take another few minutes of your time I have a couple of questions.

On the H2H games, how do you know that you aren’t going to get have to play a bunch of sharks? Do you just look at their rating?

I’m going to stick to micro stakes right now so I can do the 20 max. I do retire early enough to get up an hour or so before the first game
so I can even build then if I choose to. Once again I appreciate your time. Continued success to you!

I’ve been sticking to $1 and $2 heads up games. I’m trying to make 2020 the year of bankroll management which is far and away my worst DFS quality. I just see who has posted games and choose them all, but play every person just once, ideally. Some guys I clicked on twice because there were limited options.

AwesomO isn’t playing for $1. I know this because I learned this FROM AwesomO on YouTube. Guys like him are locked out of playing for micro stakes in many cases.

The fields for these stakes aren’t littered with pros. Some guys are better than others but overall if you just play everyone for low stakes you’ll find better success than trying to cherry pick 1 opponent. Also, never ever ever open up your own game. Take the games other people offered up. If you’re opening up H2H games you’re either absurdly confident in your own skills or making a severe blunder. It’s usually the later.

So no, I’m not looking at their rating. Just trusting that if I spread my money equally over many opponents it’ll work out better for me. I expect this to be more difficult for MLB because there will be hundreds of H2Hs instead of barely a dozen.

The 20 lineups take me about 2 hours. I usually build between 9 and 11 PM eastern.

I’ve never played the heads up format so I’ll give it a shot. I have two dollar tickets to burn. I mostly play small stakes and ran $10 to $100 on Yahoo just grinding everyday playing NHL and now trying the same on DK. I still get a thrill from watching the games/players I have money on.

Thanks for all of advice. I’ll start with one dollar H2H X 5 and 20Xdime entries tomorrow. Best of luck to you!

4 of the 5 games tonight have insane weather popping up and the one in a dome only has 1 available pitcher to be drafted. If I still can I’m just going to cancel all my entries tonight.

Edit – I found the second pitcher for the dome slate but was only able to withdrawal half my entries so tonight is basically a 40 lineup, $12 YOLO stack of one game plus a random batter. I’m not playing any H2Hs and just chalking it up to a $12 loss and I’ll be happy with anything better than that. Oh well … sometimes you get the bear and sometimes the bear locks your lineups on a day with tricky weather 11 time zones away.

  • panters

Well that’s bad news to wake up to. It’s only going to cost me .10X20 and two $1 dollar HTH tickets as all my GPPs are filled.

After spending time making the LUs I’m not going in to try and change them. Kevin did say they may still play, though. It is nearly 3 AM and I’m
sipping first cup of coffee so it looks like a nap will be in order. May be better tonight. Good luck.

DK isn’t posting lineups 28 min before lock.

  • jeffgo33

3 of 5 games rained out. I assume a refund of some sort is coming

  • rocketman828

What a joke no lineups posted before lock than after lock the 3rd game was ppd. Yeah no korean baseball dfs for this guy forget about it.

  • StephenStewart1

Draftkings needs to give a refund for this. Absolutely ridiculous that this is allowed to happen

  • rocketman828

    Yes they do

  • panters

Yes this was pretty much a cluster.

  • SkateFiend

I was aware of the ppd risk but Roth sounded cautiously optimistic. I’m used to mlb teams waiting out the rain to get the game in but I guess in the covid era that’s out the window.

  • ryanprzy

The rain and no lineups being confirmed before lock KO’d all my entries.

It’s difficult enough already with the general unfamiliarity of the league itself but I’ve also been struggling with the players’ names. DK isn’t set up for this with the way they list only the first initial of each player’s name along with their last name, of which half the league seems to have either Kim, Park, Lee, or Choi.

Scrambling for information that isn’t there at 3am is a heck of a predicament but I still suspect there’s a way to profit off of this with maybe a less lax approach. I’ve gotta study.

I know we’re all used to Classic mode, but after doing some Classic and some Showdown on opening day, I’ve been all Showdown since. I was completely overwhelmed by the amount of research to make teams in Classic, plus the uncertainty of weather and starting lineups. Showdowns are only one game to research, and if it gets rained out, no worries, just get a refund. If it plays late you don’t get burned by people with more risk tolerance than you. Plus (until today) you could follow the game on ESPN if you were up and see all the action in real time. I suppose it doesn’t hurt than I’m already +$2k in KBO Showdowns this season, but that’s where I’m sticking for the foreseeable future. You guys have fun trying to sift through 100 guys named Kim, Lee, and Park, I’ll be just tackling 20 total players each day. Maybe after like 4 or 5 Showdown games from each team I’ll come back to Classic armed with actual knowledge about each team instead of trying to blindly beat sharks who can out-research and out-entry fee me so easily.

  • ifthethunder

I risked the LG-NCD game, so got three zeroes there. Also got a couple more goose eggs from catcher and 1st baseman Parks in HAN 3-KIW 5.

Took down the $12 FanDuel Line Drive for $250, had to get up at 3:45 am to check games but seen 3 ppd. Just got lucky with a couple of dingers and took it down.

I got up just after 3, didn’t see any info except that things were very dicey and DK didn’t have batter lineups out. Made a few guesses and went back to bed. Did this change closer to game time?

    I checked ESPN.

    I checked ESPN.

Thanks, I’ll try that next time!

The thing that sucks with the KBO Showdowns on DK is that they’re limiting the 25¢ one to 1189 entries with a top prize of $25. I had an entry this morning that finished in 13th place out of 1189 and won a whopping $2.

DK has this same problem with NHL. They won’t run larger Showdowns with cheap buy-ins because they want their higher buy-in ones to fill. It sucks and instead of playing those higher buy-in ones I most of the time just don’t play in any.

And since there was overlay the other day I doubt they’ll make the cheap Showdowns bigger. If the field were 5000+ I’d max enter every day.

EDIT: Aaaand now the next quarter Showdown is limited to 475 entries. Bummer.

  • thedkexperience

I took a very small $7 profit after I decided to stack 9 players in the dome game and got one DNP. Feels like a big win actually considering I was chalking it up to a complete loss 4 hours before first pitch since I got locked into playing on accident.

As for the refunds, no chance. The rules are pretty clear. In any sport if every game but 2 get canceled then the slate stands. It could have been an NBA slate where 13 of 15 games were wiped out via murder hornets, Covid-19, roof leaks and a Monstars invasion and the slate would stand due to 2 games playing. The same rules obviously still apply in a sport where step 1 in lineup building should always be “check weather”.

Lastly, congrats on the big win Moszman!

If you need reasonably reliable KBO info of all types use this site everyone, https://mykbostats.com/.

If you click on each game’s hyperlink you’ll even get the hour by hour forecast. As for tonight, there is nothing worse than some clouds in store for us. 5 of 5 games should play.

Yeah, it is crappy and the ones for tonight are extra weak, thanks to the the MMA fight. They would do bigger prizes if the tournies started filling up early though, but DK is pushing other sports and Classic mode so we need to vote with our dollars on the games we like. The NCD/LG game tonight looks awesome, I’m sad about the small prizes but I max entered everything anyways, would rather win small than lose.

I was lucky to profit a little last night. I did find the lineups on the KBO front page right here on RG.

thedkexperience: Thanks for the weather info as I use that site for other stuff too but didn’t know about the weather on there.

I can read Korean, but lineup construction is still a bit of a hassle because the player profile doesn’t have a face to go along with the name. FD won’t post lineups at all. I could post relevant updates and info from Korean sources but by the time most late breaking news hit the community here will be fast asleep until their alarm goes off 20 min before lock.
