Would anyone play KBO DFS if it were offered by FD or DK?

  • SkateFiend

Dk did not post lineups, I can only hope this is a one time hiccup. Otherwise I have to limit myself to 4 lineups per site.

  • ifthethunder

I spent $17,600 on pitchers and got two negative numbers again.

Also, the no-lineups posted thing meant I limited my participation to just one dime-time contest. So that proved to be a blessing in disguise.

rotowire always has the lineups but it’s hassle to spend time matching them up to DK or FD

I mean, its definitely not convenient, but its at least a certainty that you have the right people in your lineup.

It’s not as bad on desktop but if I’m using smart phone it almost becomes a race against time, especially when lineups aren’t released simultaneously. I can’t assume a conventional lineups either.

I’m done with showdown type contests to cut down on the amount of lineups I have to manage.

Very true, but here’s what happens in my case: wake up randomly around 5 AM. Think: Don’t want to get out of bed yet, wait until it’s closer to 5:30. Wake up (probably actually just still awake) at 5:21 or such. Look at DK. No lineups. Go back to bed, hoping to get back to sleep. Around 5:40 AM, remember that there are other places I could have gone to. Say eff it. Also, don’t get back to sleep for another hour or so.

Can’t wait to do it again tonight! Err, tomorrow.

Lol….. finally a slate with lineups posted before bed time on the west coast and I still get a player not starting in my lineup…. in the KIA-SK game there are 3 Choi combined playing but not my 5400 SS Choi….

I know it sounds incredibly bad and maybe racist but I cannot f’ing do this,,.. can we just list the players by the jersey number???? There are like 150 Kim and 85 Park playing…..

  • rocketman828

Yes I get your frustration it’s hard to research and make a lineup let alone multiple lineups when hitters have similar names at every position.

Americans are used to identifying someone with their last name. “”(player-popup #mike-trout)Mike Trout”:/players/mike-trout-11380” is often just referred to as Trout and DK might list him as M.Trout. The emphasis is on the last name.

Koreans are more likely to say the whole name. The announcers will almost always say “Kim Sung Chae hits a homerun”. They would almost never say “Kim hits a homeruns” which wouldn’t make much sense in their language. And Kim, Choi, Lee, et al are actually first names in Korea.

So it’s a bit awkward for non Koreans to see lots of “S. Kim” and “B. Kims” on draftkings. There aren’t many unique last names in Korea, but their actual names can be varied. In the MLB there might be 3,4 Mikes and Chads but their last names are likely to be more unique.

Folks. I finally placed in a KBO contest (besides double-ups that didn’t even 1/3 fill).

Guys, I’m trying to drum up support for an idea I have: dropping the 2 lowest scores per lineup.
Then we don’t necessarily have to wake up at 4 am every night. Please comment in the forum or email DK/FD if you agree.

I get a lot of zeros sometimes but I hate that idea.

Here in the west coast the lineups start to appear around 1:45 am, sometimes earlier. That’s manageable for a lot of people, so there’s probably no groundswell for DTLS, which wasn’t that popular at FD.

The late start is inconvenient, but we’re only playing KBO in the first place because of the situation we’re in. When NBA returns most of the action will go there and KBO contests may shrink. 90% of this RG community is still in the last NBA thread.

But if NBA and NHL have to shut down again (second wave and crippling protests are a possibility) and Asian baseball is the only non soccer alternative left, the community should probably request some measures to cater to east coast players. FD doesn’t even post lineups.

My prediction is that KBO completely goes away once NBA and NHL start, and we see massive NBA and NHL contests every day – even bigger than in normal times – especially if there’s no MLB.

Or maybe they go away on FD but remain on DK? DK seems committed to the smaller sports like tennis, CFL, etc. (I imagine there’s like one Canadian dude in a cubicle at the DK headquarters always telling his colleagues that the CFL is real football and they humor him by letting him run CFL contests).

They would be wise to keep offering KBO contests in case American sports have to shut down again. NBA is a potential clusterfark waiting to happen. It involves a lot of contact and player rotation will be up in the air.
