Contest page says its two mlb slates

It really should have had one NFL slate. Two of them was CFL, why no NFL?

NFL Preseason is pointless so I can understand why they wouldn’t want to do NFL, but I don’t understand why they added two MLB slates when it clearly stated that there was only going to be one event left? Any Rotogrinders staff care to shed some light on this? Seems kind of strange to me to just start adding more events at the end of the contest.

Hi golferdude31… sorry about any confusion. Because DK doesn’t always know the contests very far in advance, they’ve been giving the to us mostly one-at-a-time. For these last two, they knew about them now, so they’re posted now.

Were you under the impression that there would be only one more? Or did you think that last weekend’s Haymaker was the last event? Just making sure that we didn’t give the impression that there would be no more contests — or even one more. The idea from the beginning was that they would continue through August.

I know you’re right up there at the top of the pack, so I can understand why you want to be really clear about what is left. These are the last two contests of King of Summer.

Are you joking? You absolutely gave the impression that there was only going to be one more event. When you release a schedule that shows there is only 1 more contest left, people kind of think there is only going to be 1 more contest left!

People have dropped a lot of money on these contests because you guys released a schedule laying out the timeframe each contest would take place. It would be one thing if this was a free contest and you guys were truly giving away free money. However, people have already invested way more into this thing than they will ever get back, but at least they could plan accordingly and knew it would be over at a certain date. Now you have changed that date, and forced certain people into a situation where they are forced to play more money and in more contests than they feel comfortable playing, as to not do so would mean they would miss out on their ‘prize’.

It feels like you guys are conning people into playing more contests and more money than they normally would, and it does not look good. Everybody, top to bottom, is now required to play in more contests than they initially were shown they would have to. All around, feels like a super messed up move. I hope you guys remove one of the last 2 contests you have posted. This is the type of thing that gives the industry a bad look, it just doesn’t look right. Normally I try to defend sites when I read about BS, but come on man! Did we give the impression that there would only be one more contest? Give me a break

Everybody thought there was only 1 week left, it wasn’t even a question.

I’m really excited that a 3 entry tournament is in the mix, but adding the extra contest is a slap in the face money grab. On top of that it is a 20 dollar entry. I’m fine with the entry price but the final contest should have been one or the other, not both!

Readparse, I was under the impression (like many others I see) that thought there would be only one more event after the MMA contest. The schedule was posted and it clearly showed that there would be one event left in this schedule and that it was TBA. It would also make sense that there was only 1 event left considering there were 5 events in July and a scheduled 5 events for August (now 6 though).

I have to side with DoubleTime here. There have been quite a few players that have put a lot of time and money into this and were panning/budgeting on the one final event. It kind of seems this is a “stretch everyone out as much as possible” type of scenario now that we are coming down the final stretch.

That being said, I understand you gotta do what you gotta do working with DK on this but it just seems a little bit strange to me!

Yeah, basically there was a schedule that was posted. (https://rotogrinders.com/pages/rotogrinders-king-of-summer-1334832) This one…that up until today, had 5 events tentatively scheduled for August with TBA out to the side of each event. Unfortunately I don’t have a screen shot of this or anything now that it’s been changed but other players apparently noticed this as well and were planning accordingly. In other words, instead of the two separate slots that are now there for the 8/26 and 8/31 events, there was just the one slot with a TBA next to it.

But yes, given the statement that you mentioned of “DraftKings will host approximately one contest each week that are flagged as being a part of this King of Summer challenge. Here is the current list, which we’ll be updating weekly:” I suppose there is leeway in there to really do about whatever DK wants to do as long as it is “approximately one each week” given the somewhat vague statement.

At the end of the day, I’m not trying to throw a fit about this…it just kind of threw a few of us off now that the schedule has changed a bit from what it was.

Yeah, I understand what you mean now. I remember that we got an initial schedule from DraftKings, which had a lot of “TBD” events on it. We took that list and put it on the King of Summer page, and have been filling it in all along. The number of “TBD” events reduced until there was only one.

Then yesterday, the one “TBD” turned into two MLB contests. I know, because I made the change myself, after I received those two contests from DK. I didn’t even think about the fact that they were adding two instead of one, because they were both in August. From the beginning, I knew that we would have 1-2 contests per week, so I didn’t see a problem with it.

But I can understand why somebody playing in this promotion would be concerned. I’ll look into this.

Thanks again for bringing this up. We dropped that last contest from King of Summer. There is only one more contest now, the MLB $50K Mini 3-Max Blast Championship, on Friday, 8/26.

Thank you, this will be a good finishing contest as well since it will bring out the skill in lineup selections. Too bad I’m just terrible at MLB but there is a chance!

man this is coming down to the nitty gritty…

I could have finished top 10 if you only had NFL preseason. I really don’t see a reason to not include it. The idea being that you want people to get a bit outside of their normal contests to try something else, hence the two CFL contests, but ok. Will do my best with MLB to see what I can do. Good Luck other guys still in the running.

While I do appreciate them dropping one of the remaining contests, I think playing an MLB 3max contest in this is about like playing the lottery. MLB has such high variance and I can pretty much guarantee this is going to be a dropped score for most people playing, but hey, playing the lottery is fun too…lol.
