We are excited to announce the invite-only launch of DraftKings Sportsbook in New Jersey today.

During this time, we are giving you the opportunity to get early access to the new DraftKings Sportsbook and be among the first people to play prior to the official public launch.

If you are interested in a chance to receive an exclusive invite for early access you can go to http://draftkings.com right now to download the app or register online.

During this invite-only phase we will be working with the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) to ensure our product meets their high standards—and ours. While we do not have a set duration for this period, this is one of the steps that must occur prior to a full, official launch in New Jersey. During the invite-only phase, the number of customers permitted, as well as the hours of operation, are limited and DraftKings will keep you updated as those days and times change. If you have any questions, please email sportsbook@draftkings.com

Everyone at DraftKings is really excited to unveil DraftKings Sportsbook. We’ve been working tirelessly on the product for more than a year and we hope you love it as much as we do.

We do not have an official public launch date yet, but can tell you, it’s coming. Soon. This is one of the final steps prior to a full, official launch in New Jersey.

Is there an estimate of when it will fully launch? It says I’m on the waitlist – I’m assuming everyone is in that boat unless you have access right now?

No official release date has been set. We are currently going through the invite only period and awaiting final approval from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE).

      RG Overall Ranking

Do you have to be a New Jersey resident, or can you simply drive to New Jersey, make a play on app, and then drive out of NJ?

The exclusive invite for early access is restricted to customers physically located in NJ, over 21, and not on a self-exclusion list in NJ or DraftKings. Residency is not required. If you qualify, visit http://draftkings.com to download the app or register online.

You are more than welcome to sign up to play on the DraftKings Sportsbook from a state where DraftKings does not operate in Sportsbook, but you won’t be able to place a real money bet unless physically located in a state that permits sports wagering, regardless of your residency.

Do you have to be a New Jersey resident, or can you simply drive to New Jersey, make a play on app, and then drive out of NJ?

At the moment, you cannot view placed unless you are physically located in the State of New Jersey. You can see your transaction history, but it doesn’t show details outside of money placed and money won. Promotions will eventually be visible if offered. You cannot place bets for real money while physically located outside of the State of New Jersey.

What’s the deposit and withdraw methods

When you first register your DraftKings Sportsbook account, any funds you’ve played through in Daily Fantasy will be available for your sportsbook wallet.
However, after you have activated your DraftKings Sportsbook account and transferred any existing funds, while you will have one DraftKings account for both DFS and sportsbook, there will be an individual deposit process for each product. Funds deposited directly for DFS will not be available for Sports Betting until they’ve been played through. Funds deposited for Sportsbook will be available for Daily Fantasy and Sportsbook.
We recognize this might require you to make multiple deposits but this individual product deposit process is necessary to ensure DraftKings complies with all applicable regulations and guidelines. DraftKings continues to offer multiple ways to fund account, including credit/debit cards, eCheck and bank transfers for both DFS and Sportsbook.

I literally moved to New Jersey today. I’m in North Jersey right now.

  • Coheedrodeo

@yisman just a heads up i was just given access to the invite only for the sportsbook and got an offer that the first bet placed would be matched up to $200, so just an fyi to keep that in mind says the offer is until aug 31st. also might be cool to do a north jersey/nyc all rotogrinders meet up sometime just thought that could be fun

  • piffffffffff

First legal bet placed haha. 400 total on Tiger to win 5800. Let’s go tigger

  • mcgruffthecrimedog

i placed a few bets last night and won a little. But now today it says I can’t get back on until later today. I also don’t see my winnings in my regular draftkings account so I don’t know how that works since I was using my funds from there to make the bets on the sportsbook app.

  • Dunzor

anybody seen what kind of vig there is on average? I’ve read some early reports that it is crazy high compared to most sports books, like close to 30 instead of the standard 10

I just saw the e-mail. I got it Wednesday night.

Weird. I don’t think I had even pressed the link to sign up yet.

Did they send the e-mail to everyone or just NJ people?

    https://www.thelines.com/draftkings-vig-betting-lines/

Here’s your answer. The vig is terrible at DraftKings. Corroborated by what I’ve seen on different betting forums as well. But the majority of their client base probably are casual/dumb bettors who just want action and don’t care about things that affect your long-term ROI, though they should.

Hopefully some healthy competition surfaces to force them to offer different incentives (deposit match bonuses, free bets) + lower the vig, otherwise, why would they? They’re in the business of making $, can’t blame them.

Personally, I’m just sticking with the online books I’ve used for years without issue. Bovada, 5dimes, BetOnline, Nitrogen Sports, etc. Open to US players, no issue. Way less vig and better promos. Fiat and bitcoin deposit/withdrawal options depending on the book.

  • emnj69

the vig is bad-they dont see the forest only the trees-the smart move would have been be aggressive on the vig and get an early and loyal customer base-thankfully I can just go 20 minutes down the road and bet in person at a MUCH lower rate

  • noddy

Can the DK rep please explain why in the heck they had to make the vig that bad? I was really looking forward to sportsbetting on DK, but this is just ridiculous.

Perhaps we can do something to help encourage an RG meetup for some SB action in NJ? We asked one of our co-workers authorised to communicate in the NJ market to reach out to yisman to attempt to coordinate.

Mcgruffthecrimedog – we are limited to using canned responses at this time, while the answer we are providing below isn’t exactly what you asked, we hope it will point you in the right direction.

All existing funds you have in your DraftKings account will be available for use on Sportsbook. However, going forward, you will have one DraftKings account for both DFS and Sportsbook, but there will be an individual deposit process for each product. Funds deposited directly for DFS will not be available for sports betting unless they are derived from winnings. Funds deposited for Sportsbook will be available for DFS and sports betting.

We notified our co-workers in the licensed jurisdiction of New Jersey about your post above. They may have taken the initiative on your behalf.

The DraftKings SportsBook does not list limits as they vary based on events, outcome liquidity, odds, time to event etc.

If approval is required, the user can request the desired wager amount to be approved. Generally this process will take just a few minutes.

Our method allows you to request a larger wager value that may or may not be accepted based on our current handle on the desired bet – it provides more flexibility.
