    RG Meteorologist

Hey guys! Of course, first of all, don’t forget it’s Mother’s Day! Secondly, the weather will pose little issues today!

The only big concern I see is in Baltimore. Northwest winds of 10 to 20 mph will provide a good cross wind from left to right field.

Winds in Detroit may be sustained over 10 mph at times. The only reason I am even mentioning this is because they will be blowing straight out to left field.

Winds in Anaheim won’t be very strong, but they will be blowing straight out. Sustained winds will range between 5 and 15 mph.

In San Diego, a west wind of 5 to 15 mph will blow directly from left to right field. It should be a perfect cross wind.

There will be a few showers in Cincinnati at first pitch so they could potentially cause a quick delay, but nothing more than that!

    Keep grinding!

I think Cincy is going to wind up being a much bigger issue than you’re portraying here, David…

Thanks for doing this and for filling in for Kevin!

    thank you!

Cinci will may just wait out the main band since it looks pretty good after that.

I would normally agree with emac but I have two concerns here:

1.) The showers are exhibiting what we in the business call a “training” effect. (Think railroads, not the verb.) That is, they are moving in basically a straight line over the same area. The entire line is moving very slowly to the northeast, but the boundary responsible for these showers doesn’t really catch up to the line itself until sometime this evening, so there’s no real force to get the line moving any faster for the time being.

2.) This is a game against a division opponent that makes 2 more visits to Cincy this season. I don’t think they’ll be as inclined to wait this out as they would if it were a team for whom this is the only scheduled road series against the Reds this year. (meaning they would have to find a common off day and have that team make a special trip to play one game.)

Regardless, we shall see soon enough. I’m fading this one though.

I think Mother’s Day saves the Cincy game easy and the forecast given by David and Reds Twitter . They put in a lot of effort to celebrate Mother’s Day and they will want to get the game in because of that.

    please please play that game

Thanks for the weather reports the last few days, David. Excellent posts.

Also, Emac,I thought you exclusively stay at either an Old Pal Inn or a Motel 6?

That game is looking like it won’t play imo

From the Cincinnati Reds official Twitter page at 1:08 CST:

The rain has started to taper off and we are hopeful it will continue to diminish which will allow us to prepare the field.
