To comply with DraftKings’ request that we use the bulk uploading tool that they now provide on their own site, we have changed our lineup builder tool to export CSV’s in the format they require. The only part that’s different on our end is that you must have a slate selected before you can export your lineups from Lineup Builder.

On the DraftKings site, you will then use the new “Upload Lineups” on their “My Lineups” page to import your lineups from the exported CSV.

We have also modified our DraftKings extension to no longer include the orange “Import Lineups” button that you used to see on the “My Lineups” page. With that feature gone, there’s not much left in our DK extension, but you may want to keep it installed. We have a few projects in the works that allow you to see your own exposure percentages of players in specific contests as well as the displaying the margin and overlay percentages for any given contest in the lobby. We have reached out to DraftKings to see if they have any issues with functions like these that just do calculations of information that is already displayed on the page. We won’t release these features in our extension until we get the okay from them, but we are keeping our fingers crossed.

I mentioned this in a previous post but want to remind everyone again. One thing we lose with this transition is the ability to bulk edit lineups, which our extension used to support, but the DK tool doesn’t. If bulk editing is a feature that you would like to see, tell DraftKings about it, and they may add that functionality on their site down the road.

@bologo – See my reply earlier in this thread to Jvd2—if you used the lineup builder early in the day yesterday, your local settings may be incompatible with the update. Try using the “Reset” button on the Lineup Builder page before exporting your CSV.

“Incorrect player position header for sport”. The file name generated is “draftkings nba 700pm 6 Games.csv”. All I did is went to the lineup builder, went to settings, reduced lineup limit to 5, generate lineup, and export. I did it five minutes ago. Does not seem to be working.

Same here, I hit the reset button and it didn’t work.

Is it an issue with our browser’s cookies or cache? Or maybe we need to log out and back into DK? Uninstall the DK RG extension and reinstall? Use a different browser? Restart our computer?

So can we still use the lineup builder like normal and export it to excel and just use the DK’s upload lineups? Or will that not work? I know we can’t bulk edit any longer but just curious if we can now load lineups that way since the extension is not there any longer?

@plugs – you can use DK’s version of the bulk upload tool. You just have to provide a CSV in the format they require, which includes the player slate id for each player.

  • plugs

Does the lineup builder here not provide those numbers when we export it? Sorry, I’m very new to this kind of stuff.

  • Riley

    RG Co-Founder

Yes, it does provide those numbers. That is the change to the Lineup Builder that is the purpose of this pinned thread.

  • plugs

Thank you. So basically the only major difference at this time is we can’t bulk edit at the moment.

I actually didn’t use the generator yesterday. I just read this thread and tried it just now. It still gives me the error. I also selected Reset and start all over again…still not working. I did it just to test. Here is the content of the file:

@bologo, this is strange. Yesterday this worked fine, but today, it looks like the DK bulk importer is expecting the first row to not include the quotation marks.

Right now the header row we create looks like:
    “PG”,“SG”,“SF”,“PF”,“C”,“G”,“F”,“UTIL

If you change that first row to look like:
    PG,SG,SF,PF,C,G,F,UTIL

..then it should work. (This is the same as what our CSV outputs in the first line, just without the quotes.) I’ll get the LineupBuilder changed so that the first row looks like this automatically.

The theory is with lower limits, they’ll have to lower the prizes as well as there simply won’t be enough entrants. For example in DK’s sharpshooter contests, about 12% of all entries come from players with 100+ LUs. Personally, I just wish there is more transparency with regards to bulk editing…. If they official add it to their uploader then great, but if they’re banning it then I wish have some effective solution to enforce it to remove any doubts about an uneven playing field.

I agree. Although, we may be able to tell if there is still bulk editing off site especially in nba if something like the Channing Fry debacle happens again. There are some super sleuths in this community (yes you detective Seth Yates) I’ve seen their work and it’s likely that if there’s impropriety with this it’ll at least arouse suspicion imo.

100% agree that DK needs to add bulk editing to the uploader so that pros don’t have a scripting edge. I believe pros will definitely be able find a workaround. RG has done a amazing job in leveling the playing field for all. I have emailed DK Support expressing my concern. It is disappointing that DK has taken a step backward.

IMO, the industry as a whole is facing legal action and scrutiny. The current steps look like the sites are taking it seriously. No matter, it seems ‘‘where there is a will, there is a way’‘ and someone will always come up w/ an angle.Never will be perfect.

  • stonejack26

Great work. Need the bulk LU editor though, especially in NBA. With the late scratches and trying to enter contests early before they are filled…well…it sucks.

I encourage everyone who wants bulk lineup editing to write to DraftKings and let them know. The only way this functionality will be supported in the future is if they build lineup editing functionality on their end.

  • bzhizzle

I went into lineup builder and generated a test line up using the 2 late games slate and exported to csv but when i try to upload the lineup using the dk upload option i get an error saying empty file. I must be missing a step somewhere. Could you please post a video with directions on how to do this? thanks

Try generating 2 or more lineups to a csv, that should solve the empty file error.

Sent them a couple emails about it and they said they have received a lot of requests for this, but no ETA yet. Hopefully it comes soon because it really is a must.

I don’t think there’s a lack of emails to DK Support; we are all constantly reaching out. They are obviously not putting a date on this functionality, which is the common sense reply to an everyday player.

Riley – We all agree the RG Lineup Builder is exactly what we need. Have you offered up collaborating with DK, as opposed to them tediously (or incorrectly) recreating the wheel?

  • Tibushu

Does the old method of entering a bunch of different lineups into a GPP still work on FD?

  • mirzayac

So is the bulk SWAP feature completely gone? has anyone found a way to do this? now my only option seems like to wait til 6 30 when spots are about to fill up and created my teams then upload….no more reserving spots early

  • TicketRaven

Any updates on multi LI entry “global lineup” changes on DK’s? If I upload 50 li’s in NHL tuesday night – can I edit in Global Player Edit for all lineups ??? If not – someone at DK’s really took their eyes off the wheel on this one . . . probably a bad move – we need the multi-edit – won’t be able to play multi-lineups without it = probably won’t play as much now until this is fixed.

I think DK missed the boat with this badly. I completely agree with the site for providing the tools and wanting on site tools to be used only, as it creates the most equal playing field because then all will have equal access. However, for them to have not installed a bulk edit feature to their lineup upload tool before making these changes permanent was a huge mistake.
All who see this as an issue should email DK as I have and many others have. They are aware of the situation and the more they hear about it the more likely it is they will work on their lack of ability in their current uploader.
I am sure they are seeing less entries than normal and getting complaints as now it is basically impossible to enter the tournaments you would like to play earlier in the day without knowing that you will have to manually input every single player into each lineup. As well as the issue of not being able to pivot places based on injury news.

This is the reply I got from DK Support:
“Unfortunately we do not partner with Rotogrinders for matters related to the lineup uploading tool. However we have already passed your feedback onto our technical teams for further review.”

Riley – Not sure if you missed the first note, but this sounds like a good opportunity to have deeper discussions with DK on reviving the RG Lineup Builder?

  • Riley

    RG Co-Founder

@CZYX – We’ve had several conversations with DK about this process, and in fact, this thread is a result of those conversations. They are not interested in reviving the RG version of what they have built on DK itself.
