To comply with DraftKings’ request that we use the bulk uploading tool that they now provide on their own site, we have changed our lineup builder tool to export CSV’s in the format they require. The only part that’s different on our end is that you must have a slate selected before you can export your lineups from Lineup Builder.

On the DraftKings site, you will then use the new “Upload Lineups” on their “My Lineups” page to import your lineups from the exported CSV.

We have also modified our DraftKings extension to no longer include the orange “Import Lineups” button that you used to see on the “My Lineups” page. With that feature gone, there’s not much left in our DK extension, but you may want to keep it installed. We have a few projects in the works that allow you to see your own exposure percentages of players in specific contests as well as the displaying the margin and overlay percentages for any given contest in the lobby. We have reached out to DraftKings to see if they have any issues with functions like these that just do calculations of information that is already displayed on the page. We won’t release these features in our extension until we get the okay from them, but we are keeping our fingers crossed.

I mentioned this in a previous post but want to remind everyone again. One thing we lose with this transition is the ability to bulk edit lineups, which our extension used to support, but the DK tool doesn’t. If bulk editing is a feature that you would like to see, tell DraftKings about it, and they may add that functionality on their site down the road.

@Riley – Appreciate the transparency and efforts from RG. I’m not surprised DK is looking to keep everything in-house, but did they give you any other concerns / rationale? They have assured us bulk editing is something that’s “coming soon” but won’t commit to a hard deadline. I’m confused at what the hesitation is if they agree it should be added in-house; next steps for us? (other than emailing support)

The rationale is that DK is trying to do what consumers want—give all players an equal opportunity to use the same helpful tools. There are two directions they could go with this decision—1) Disallow bulk importing and bulk editing of all sorts and actively police people who build scripts to circumvent that prohibition, or 2) Build the tools in-house so that everyone has immediate access to the functionality. As much as we try to market ourselves, not all DK customers know about RotoGrinders or the extensions we supplied when third-party tools were deemed acceptable…

…and I was very aware of these possible outcomes back in July 2015 when DK first permitted customers to bulk upload lineups through their own self-written tools and when I announced the free-for-everyone browser extension we built in response: If you watch the intro to my video in that thread, I say these tools “may very well go away if the sites change their terms of service to disallow them”. Now DK has.

I don’t think there’s any hesitation on DK adding bulk editing on their end. It’s just going to take them some time to implement. But yes, email them about it. The more customers who do so, the better chance the project will move up their working list of priorities.

The LineupBuilder is not exporting (FanDuel) to excel for me, tried on two separate Windows machines in Chrome.

However, just to test, I was able to export a DraftKings excel sheet.

Lastly, FanDuel does not seem to have any active choices for the game slate, while Draftkings does. Help? I’ve got lineups ready to go for tonight’s games!

Looks like the problem has been fixed!

I’ve never used the lineup builder, can someone please clarify:

If I enter 100 identical dummy lineups on FD into 5 different contests, can I I use the lineup builder to edit/replace those dummy lineups with 100 new/unique lineups?

Will I have to go into each contest and re-upload the new 100 lineups (I’m not too familiar with fanduel and mass-editing)

How about on Draftkings? I believe I read they have their own way to mass enter now, however no way to mass edit (aka can’t use dummy line ups)…is that still the case?

Hi JoakimNoah. Neither site currently supports mass editing. FanDuel never has. On DK, up until recently, you were able to use the RotoGrinders extension for bulk editing, but now that DK only allows bulk actions through their website, that extension has been disabled.

However, if enough customers reach out to both FD and DK, bulk editing may be something they provide on their site itself in the future.

Based on some of my recent communication with DK support, I suspect they’re actively working on an editing feature. Hopefully it works out… and hopefully it doesn’t take an extremely long time!

I haven’t seen that problem before. Are you using the RG lineup builder to create the CSV? Did you open it in a spreadsheet program and save it before uploading to DK?

  • AKspecial

“Incorrect player position header for sport” have we found a solution for this problem yet? For editing lineups with RG CSV.

How come when you set a guy for 100% exposure sometimes it comes out as like 60%? What do you have to do to get the player or players you want at 100% to go through at 100%?

  • Knife45

I am not very computer savvy, I do most of my research/lineup building with the IPad. But I cannot figure out how to upload my lineup to DK with the lineup builder from here. Is there an easy way to accomplish this or am I basically stuck filling out multiple lineups one by one? Any kind of info helps thanks.

Hi I’m a newbie at using the lineup builder on RG and uploading it to Draftkings. Once you save your csv file and upload it, do you have to go to my lineups and enter the contests one at a time or is there a way to enter all the lineups with one or minimum clicks once you’ve uploaded it. Is there a tutorial or video that shows step by step on using the tool for Draftkings.

Unfortunately you can’t upload lineups from lineup builder to DK on an iPad or iPhone since those devices don’t allow you to download and save the CSV

  • kalel85

you have press the lock button to lock a player for 100% exposure

  • Knife45

Oh well. Thanks for the reply.

  • tysim19

Normally I have zero issues downloading as CSV and uploading to DK. However, I keep receiving a blob of text rather than an excel doc when I select Download as CSV. Could someone point me in the direction of where I am going wrong? Thanks

  • MalphiteGod420

Man this is tool is burning me hard lately. As lineups are coming 15-20 mins to lock I’m trying to generate lineups and I get this message that the lineup builder can’t connect. Why does it do that? I had to rush and use the optimized lineups and now im 100% on someone who I didn’t even want to play. How do I prevent lineup builder from ever doing this again?

not for me….$1000 on one lineup so we’ll see how this turns out lol

  • MalphiteGod420

I wonder why this keeps happening? I eventually got it to spit out a lineup after like 15 tries. This is the 2nd time in 3 days where I can’t get it to work as lock is approaching.

  • Knife45

Is it apple products in general or can I use a mac to do this? Thanks

  • neilm49

I was just reading draftkings terms of service and it seems to not allow use of third party automation of lineup building. Is the rotogrinders tool legal to use on draftkings?
