Hey guys, so I often use the Rotogrinders NBA lineup builder for MME-ing into Draft Kings and Fan Duel contests. In the past, I have not had any issues exporting to excel and then re uploading to DK/FD, until the past few days, when RG lineup builder started exporting to “Numbers” on Mac, instead of excel. Numbers is like Apple’s version of excel. Unfortunately DK does not accept files from Numbers, or at the very least, I haven’t figured out how to do it. I would rather just use excel. Does anyone know how to make sure RG lineup builder automatically exports to excel rather than Mac numbers? Has anyone else on Mac had this problem? (Disclaimer: I am using chrome not safari, and as I said, its always worked in the past)

    Thanks

    Hello sir,

I talked with one of our wizards and he said, “That sounds like he just needs to make sure the file is saved as a CSV doc. I am not aware of another reason numbers would alter the file to make it unusable. He should be able to do that in the program he uses. Also it sounds like numbers is his default spreadsheet program, that’s not something RG controls”

yeah, I emailed support and got a similar answer. The problem is, I already tried saving it (and exporting it) as a csv file, and that diidnt work, so thats why I decided to try to come here and get help. Numbers used to not be my default program, as it had always gone to excel in the past, so thats why I came to see if RG had any control over which program it could be exported to, but I guess you guys can’t do anything about that. My best bet seems like trying to find out how to switch my default (although I thought it was already on excel in the first place)

This is why i started using google sheets when I make teams at home on my mac. At work I have excel so its all good.

    This is for MLB

I had this problem last year and was never able to find a solution. How would I go about producing only 5/3 stack lineups? ie. 5 hitters from one team and 3 hitters from another. I know how to produce 4/4 lineups (set min 4 and max 4) but I haven’t yet been able to find a way to do the former.

    Thanks.

Not sure how to answer this without sounding like a smart ass, but I do it all the time setting 4 min for one team and 3 for the other (while locking in the desired pitcher from the 4 team).

You may have to explain more so I can forward to the team?

Ok let me try this again….

I want to produce lineups that have 5 hitters from one team and 3 hitters from another team. These two teams can be any team. I will be optimizing based on my custom projections.

This is for DK. Ignore the pitchers as I’m purely stacking hitters.

    Better?

Yep, I’ll pass that on. It’s partially my fault for thinking in terms of Fanduel, as that is what I play MLB on. My fault on that one.

LineupHQ doesn’t have a way to guarantee those types of stacks at the moment without actually defining the stacks in the hitter stacks tab.

So you basically are trying to ensure 5-3 stacks without actually saying the teams you wants to stack in the hitter stacks tab?

Have you tried the groups or stacks features when attempting this or are you basically just trying to optimize based on your projections with the constraint of 5 players from one team and 3 from another in all his lineups?

    Yes

I can’t use the groups feature as that seems to be only for premium members. But yes, I have been attempting to do all of this via the stacks feature. Your last sentence is exactly what I’ve been trying to accomplish via the stack feature.

Can I change the name of my lineup builds?? Build 123 etc…Also,

And Finally, once I give all of my lineups appropriate names, I would like to view them all together, with the overall player exposures for all of my lineups combined. And then also view them separately with updated player exposures, or basically pick and chose which “lineup builds” I would like to combine for download into the CVS file. Fantasy Labz allows this but I like the interface here better. If I can already do this please help, if not, make it happen and you will have my membership dues!!!

Not sure if this has been asked before but is the hitter performance per pitch type data exclusive to the hand they’re seeing it thrown from?

i.e. When I look at JD Martinez performance against the slider is it against Righties and Lefties that throw a slider?

If so, I’d be interested to know exclusively how he does against a lefty that throws a slider. It may sound ridiculous and maybe there is data that would agree but I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a big difference of how effective specialty pitches are. This could be factored in where a hitter is sees the pitch and the differing approach in how pitches are mixed in.

Also, can we get a pitcher’s pitch type tendency difference between what they throw against lefties and righties. If David Price nevers throws his Cutter to righties I’d like to know.

As always, excellent work on this tool RG!

My apologies in advance for this newbie question. As I understand I MLB classic and pick em contest both have the same scoring system. Why does lineup hq have 2 different projections for a player? Example today’s Betts has a projection of 9.7 for classic and 21.7 for pickem? Many thanks for any replies in advance.

Anyone else having issues with lineupHQ not saving lineups?

HQ has not been the same since they ‘upgraded’ it about a month ago. It’s become very clumsy and difficult to navigate. I hope RG can get HQ back to what it was.

Are there plans to increase the maximum number of lineups you can build to more than 150?

Being that the limit on contests are 150, I can’t see the team ever doing that or am I missing something?

If you’re entering multiple contests and want to differentiate your lineups across contests, then you’d want the ability to build more than 150 lineups at once. Some of your competitors in the marketplace (i.e. RotoQL) allow you to build as many as 500 lineups at once.

I stand corrected. I’ve never entered that many different contests so never thought of that.

Can you give some insight on the PIQ Rating? I’m looking at Cervelli today as the highest PIQ rated player yet his ISO is miserable against the pitch type he faces today. Yes I know it’s Homer Bailey but when I look at Dickerson in the same matchup he looks better by every metric yet is almost 10 points lower in PIQ.
