    All,

I follow the Million Dollar musing posts and use all the tools available in this site. Lately, I have had a two week losing streak. Is anyone else in this kind of problem? I’m literally losing baseball every day.

Yesterday, who would have though that Danny Duffy would smoke the A’s? Or that the Indian’s would get routed by Fiers. Using commentary on Million Dollar Musings, consensus value rankings and Plate IQ, these hitters should have clobbered Duffy and Fiers.

What gives? I pay for this site and I’m not receiving and ROI.

    That’s baseball.

It’s baseball. Each batter has very few attempts to score points in a game compared to other sports like NBA where the best players on a team have 10s of shot, assist and rebound opportunities. Pitchers can get negative points for a lot of salary, which doesn’t really occur for other positions in other sports. Results will be a lot more volatile.

If the outcomes of games were entirely predictable then none of this would exist.

Everyone that plays is trying to win and the rake is 15% in some gpps. Very few people win, it’s much harder than just paying for information on a site.

Thanks guys. Did anyone mention there is some element of luck?

With the current rake structure only 10-15% of all DFS players will come out profitable each year and I can guarantee you more than 10-15% of all DFS have access to some sort of subscription type information. So just paying for a subscription means nothing and for sure doesn’t guarantee you will become a winner automatically.

cheese cannot control the performance of the players….yet.

What’s really improved my MLB results is paying more attention to park factors and weather. Also the use of the articles, projections and other resources is two-fold.

On one hand it can help you know who to play, but it can also help with knowing who not to play. If the articles and projections seem to favor a certain player. Learn how to do your own research, and if it says otherwise, fade’em. The same can be said about resources that don’t favor certain players.

All you can do in DFS and especially MLB DFS is to put your self in a favorable position to win….If you’re playing large field GPPs, a chance to hit it big

The truth is that some less talented players will get lucky and hit it big and some talented players may never hit it right

There are a couple big misconceptions in DFS which help keep the wheels turning.

You have unique data / information that most of the field is without…

Reality: Raw data information and it’s importance is constantly evolving at a high rate. That same data is regurgitated and leaked to the masses instantly. Most users know where to find it themselves from free websites, or it’s reflected through free optimizers. Not to mention Umpire Data, Weather, and other miscellaneous topics are now commonly factored in to most entries.

You’ve spent more time researching than others or your resources are better…

Reality: A large majority of the field entries are salty dogs or have multiple hours of podcast / article / projection model research behind them. Mostly from this site itself if not a semi-competent competitor. For every Awesomo there are a lot of others we don’t hear about that are trying to do the same thing, (Pick your favorite motivational speaker) believing if they research 8 hours a day they will turn “pro”. Even in the face of financial collapse.

I’ve acquired the best data / research money can buy so there’s no way I can lose…

Reality: Even the 100 win teams in baseball are only 12% better than average and 25% better than the absolute garbage teams. Hitters like Arenado & Trout only average 1.2 hits a game and last year Scherzer lost a third of his decisions. Some of those to guys like Leake, Bibens-Dirx, Gohara, & Colon. Then factor in your entry loses 17% before this game of spin the wheel even starts.

Enjoy the process and learning what certain moves make for better outcomes with the expectation that chaos will laugh in your face. Rake and 8 hour pros will inevitably take your money.

Despite everything I’ve stated above there’s still a fine line of enjoyment in sports, competition, and occasional reward that gets me to continue to play.

The other thing is, What are you playing? If you’re losing at GPPs, go with cash for a while. Or, ignore me. I lose at baseball with more frequency than I care to admit. I play 99 % GPPs so I can hit that big score every now and then.

    have this saying…
if what was supposed to happen would happen, anyone who knew anything would know everything, and the same person would be winning every night.
A lot of times, what isn’t supposed to happen, happens, especially when it’s a surprise, and not a direct reversal to what was supposed to happen.
I dunno, maybe that doesn’t even make sense.

I lose constantly but from what I gather the most important thing to pay attention to is ownership percentage. I never win but the best I’ve done recently is a Yankees/Orioles stack when the game was supposed to be rained out. Everyone faded them because the game wasn’t supposed to play but I took into account that the next day was supposed to be a 24 hour downpour. I figured they would play through the light rain that day to avoid a terrible schedule situation. Well they did and I got 11th out of like 4000. Basically what I’m saying is pick what shouldn’t happen, and eventually you will win. Pick what should happen and you will NEVER win.

2 weeks!?? Child’s Play! I adjusted my goals 2 years ago to try and finish as close to last place and have become so much more successful! I didn’t change the way I pick my players, I just root for them to suck becuz their fates are sealed once they get in my Lineup!!
