New this year to cbb dfs and have figured out a system that is working pretty well so far. I am curious, though, how everything changes (or stays the same) come tourney time.

My guess would be the tourney brings more “fish” to the pond and also creates some exposure to mid major teams not on the slate during the regular season. I would think this further benefits the player who does his research.

How do you all adjust your strategy/game selection? Also, how do the sites adjust in terms of what they offer?

    Thanks

one note regarding march madness. some teams shorten the benches a bit due to the extra timeouts.

What extra timeouts? They are the same as regular season at the under 16, 12, 8 and 4 minute marks plus actual timeouts…it doesnt change for postseason… you are correct they shorten benches but that is due to the fact you lose you go home

There is an extra media timeout in the post season…

Any chance Kentucky sees their bench shorten on the second weekend and after for this reason. The way they’ve played all year, it would create some very nice values

The shortest KY will ever go would be 8 deep and the production will still be so spread it would make things still tough to predict

    When?

  • julieduke33

Same amount of media timeouts they just last longer, just looked it up still at the under 16,12,8 and 4 minute marks

    no. there is not.

Ok. So do you change your strategy at all – play more, play different games, target players differently?

Also, I assume every game is on the slate – is that correct?

There are 4 media timeouts each half. The 1st whistle under 16,12,8,4 minutes. I hate when a coach calls a timeout then the next whistle is a media timeout.

Strategy is generally the same. One thing to look at is that on teams generally some players step up their games against better opponents while others shrink. Last year, Kaminsky took over games while Dekker’s production was trending down. Also another thing to consider is the strength of schedule the player has gone up against. A mid major player may be putting up 30 fantasy points a game, but against the big boys it would be a much bigger challenge.

I wish we could do a cbb touney that lasted from day 1 till the end. If your player is still alive you keep getting points. We used to do a tourney long league like that and great strategy. Do you take the 6th guy on a stud team or the top guy on a avg team. wally szczerbiak won big money for a guy the year he went off.

I really hope Fanduel brings back the Survive the Madness. I think the NCAA Tournament was the perfect format for that. The whole thing was a lot of fun, even though I lost my last 2 teams right before the Final 16.

I could potentially put together an RG League using this format if there would be enough interest. My friends and I did this for several years as well.
