I just saw the news. How unfortunate!

He and two others were killed in a boating accident in Miami Beach this morning.

  • Lathum

Crazy. Defied the odds to even get here from Cuba and he’s gone way too soon.

Truly some of the saddest news. They were expecting their first kid, this one really hurts the heart.

So sad. I own a similar boat like the one crashed. Boating is no joke especially at night or while intoxicated. Gotta respect the waters. RIP

Man. If his start didn’t get pushed back he probably would have never been out there. Sad day.

My wife passed suddenly at 56 yrs.old three months ago. As someone who is just getting back to “normalcy” this has put a damper on today. I’m bagging the NFL game I was planing to attend and spend it with my grandkids and just watch as they play. This kid was a class act and was going to be a great if not HOF pitcher. Baseball should cancel all games as he was family. If they think one player in their league wants to play today they are fools. IMO.

    Way too young RIP.

  • johnnywombat

I loved to watch him pitch and his enthusiasm for life. Rest in Peace Jose.

  • GGee87

Very hard news to take. I loved watching him pitch. So fiery and had all of the talent in the world. As a Braves fan I hated facing him… but looked forward to watching him do his thing. Thinking of his family today.

I just ran into this article from AP post regarding Jose Fernandez accident. Shocking news, and a sad one. To see such a talented pitcher going out like this. Hearts and prayer to you.

Man what a sad day…This Kid was a true beast and only 24 years old smh, my prayers goes out to his pregnant wife…Life is so unpredictable, don’t take it for granted fellas

  • wolfjb1

I was thinking about that, too. What an awful convergence of events.

  • rdchampion

Sad to hear this news. Was one of my favorite baseball players if not my favorite. Rip Jose

  • Lathum

As a Mets fan I simultaneously loved and hated when he pitched against us. He was as talented a pitcher as I ever saw in my 35 years of watching baseball, and I would often just shake my head at his stuff. I can’t imagine what hitters thought. His talent was matched only by his enthusiasm, and even though I was a fan of the opposing team I couldn’t help but smile when I watched him pitch.Sadly he will now be mentioned in the same breath as Clemente and Munson. RIP Jose Fernandez. You are gone way too soon.

  • Daybo

Didn’t check MLB news all day until now, saw this and my jaw dropped. Still cant stop crying after 5 minutes, dude was only 1 year older than me. Huge prayers for his family and the marlins organization, RIP JoFer.
