Is it too early to already be 1) hating this and 2) glad I won’t be as enticed to always roster him.

    What’s everyone’s reaction to this?

    LET’S GO BUFFALO!

  • onyxmeth

More interesting than that is Mark Ingram potentially going to Philly. That would be a big time up arrow for him.

It was a pretty great trade for the Eagles, no reason to be livid. Sad, sure. Livid, nah.

RB was our strength. Now it’s a weakness we need to fill in free agency or the draft. Sproles is aging and Polk is Goal Line only.

You’re acting like we got nothing in return lol.

I’m aware we got the once Defensive Rookie of the Year but he’s coming off an ACL injury. Him for a 1300 yard RB is not worth it.

Big time RBs end up as free agents all the time and they’re typically cheaper than other positions to acquire. Big time middle linebackers get locked up by their teams. Also consider that the trade is worth one premium FA pickup also because of the cap savings. That’s Devin McCourty money.

  • wavegoodbye

rb’s are the most replaceable position in football – look at the superbowl winners who lost ridiley and then literally picked their starting rb off waivers in middle of season

paying an rb ten million a year is the stupidest thing you can do as a team so it doesn;t shock me buffulo made this deal, philly fans should be kneeling down to chip kelly

it;s already been mentioned how easily they could sign spiller cheap, also throw in vereen and prob a few other guys…. then there’s that whole draft thing too

i get some fans are sentimental but man, such a positive move for the eagles

  • ktsg1983

Eagles fan.. As much as we love Shady .. I love cap space with a great free agency pool better.

Next step, trade Foles, move up in the draft and get Mariota.. A QB that can actually play a Chip Kelly offensive game

Yup, getting rid of McCoy’s cap hit alone would’ve been solid, picking up a potential stud MLB is icing on the cake (who is cost controlled at ~1mil for 2 more years).

  • flip4flop

Eagles fanatic here. I was initially pissed off at this move but it makes sense as long as Chip can capitalize on the cap space he has free up over the past week. Shady was our strong point, however Sproles always seemed just as capable as getting the offense moving last season. I think Sproles can fill the gap and hopefully the Chip makes some free agency moves that make sense.

  • electrichaz3

as a eagles season ticket holder, i fully support this trade. furthermore, this opens up all kinds of free agent opportunities not to mention the potential push for mariotta

  • sabresrock29

Bills fan here and season ticket holder. Kiko was a steal when we drafted him. He played great during the first half of the season and just good during the 2nd. He does sometimes overpersue. Then the acl injury, his 2nd major injury(1 in college I believe). He does have potiental. The reports were he was going to be a OLB in the 3-4 which he didnt like. In returns the Eagles trade a top rb for a a Bills team expected to be run heavy and manage the game aka keep tom brady off the fiekd by controling the clock. Also this opens the field more for Watkins. The cap hit for McCoy is high but the Bills could also restructure and pay him a nice bonus since. I think this trade can and will benefit both teams. If the Bills can upgrade the offensive line I’ll give a slight boost to mccoy due to volume increase and offensive style.

I don’t understand what is great about this trade? You get a guy coming off ACL surgery? Yippie?

ACL injury is not a career ender.. Ask Adrian Peterson

The odds moving to 20-1 is insignificant since the full ramifications of this deal won’t be known till see see what they do with the cap space

Team A trades all of their draft picks for the next 5 years to Team B
Team B trades stud player to Team A
Team B’s odds of winning this year’s SB decrease, therefore it’s a bad trade?

Obviously an exaggeration but you get the point. The Eagles may very well have decreased their chances of winning the SB this year (though the article states that only the Wynn changed their odds while other sports books did not), but there’s more to a trade then this year’s SB odds.

Huge Eagles fan. Also in favor of the trade, and Shady was my favorite player. That being said, the trade isn’t complete until we see what the Eagles do with the almost $10 million in salary cap that this trade opened up.

This trade is Shady for Kiko Alonso AND whatever we spend $10 million on. This trade is still very incomplete as far as I am concerned. But in this day in age, it doesn’t make sense to pay over $10 million to ANY RB. So I like what the Eagles did here.

There are rumblings that the Eagles are interested in Mark Ingram. He’s the north/south type RB that Chip Kelly likes.

Rethought it. If we can get Mark Ingram for well south of 10 mil, then I’d say it was worth it so long as some of that money goes to an elite secondary.

  • JBigg23

McCoy was the Eagles worst running back last year, behind Polk.

McCoy going there was good for Buffalo, bad for him, wont do them any good cause they always manage to blow it anyway. Cassell sent there too, living here in the frigid tundra of upstate NY the only upside is that the Texans are playing a Bills home game this year……..JJ’s gonna end Matt, kinda feel bad for him.

  • Joe1Coal

I mean, I get that having the space is important. But, McCoy was coming off a down season for him, because of how bad the offensive line was and how many changes they had on it and all the injuries. I really think this is an over exaggeration to what people thought was a down season, but I think was really just an indictment on the offensive line. Just my opinion.
