I came here with popcorn in hand but was pretty shocked to find no discussion of it.

Worst part about it is that DK has an obvious case of cheating and yet promotes the win.

This is just horrible. This tweet here sums it perfectly.

Vote with your wallets folks. Boycott Draft Kings. We can’t just continue to sit back, watch this and continue paying rake when there’s so many other options out there.

No I get it – people are upset that they lose money playing DFS and want to blame a boogeyman for it.

I didn’t even play this contest so I lost no money but to think that this issue doesn’t have any impact on the Draftkings Integrity or the fact that they stand behind their community guidelines and terms & conditions like they are actively enforced. This issue is much bigger than people just being mad about losing money when the entire integrity of the site is called into question.

They will probably pay them out and then “eliminate” their 300 lineups from the standings and then pay everyone else out. So whoever finished 2nd will get a million dollar payout as well, and so on through the standings

This is the most likely outcome. Solves nothing and doesnt eliminate future problems down the road. IMO the only solution is have a gaming board audit them once a year and to be able to investigate issues like this when they arise instead of having a lol internal investigation.

Interesting, I was digging around the MM csv on DK and the username rrpatter came up as hyper-similar to jade in week 17.

Super interesting that there’s another source saying rrpatter and Tanner are related in some way… Check out histograms of general overlap between Jade’s lineups and all other 100+ entry lineups in week 17 and wildcard weekend… While ownership overlap isn’t crazy with tanner (it’s still only 70%, not 90%+), it’s right there with Tanner, and majorly different from her standard overlap with the field (nice bell curve).

FWIW, the distribution of players in week 17 is very different from WC weekend. Doesn’t appear that anything super obvious is happening based on week 17 player picks, but the wildcard distribution of QB picks specifically seems fishy to me. Here’s week 17:

I doubt they even go that far as they are not going to just hand out a 2nd million. My guess is they pay everyone out and continue to say they are investigating but since it is private matter they can’t comment until this issue just goes away in a few weeks or months.

You don’t know that they are not enforced. You don’t know anything. You are speculating. It’s obviously not against the rules to talk about who you are playing or to share projection data or lineup builders. How many people reading this have ever clicked two backups out of the player pool in LineupHQ and thrown the resulting optimal in a cash game? It’s not wrong unless you are being deceptive.

It would be deceptive to max enter multiple accounts and have them all pay out to the same person. It would be deceptive to share winnings through syndicate play. It’s not deceptive for a husband and wife to both play 150 and coordinate on a basic level to stay unique from each other – and nothing is more basic than splitting QB’s.

You are right in that I am speculating which is a major problem with DK’s integrity. There is several examples of well known syndicate teams that supposedly have been investigated with no findings but all of this is done in private with 0 proof anything has ever been done to enforce these terms since they were introduced a few years ago. Which is why DK should be more transparent on issues like this instead of just making comments we are investigating nd then never say another word because its private. DK actually uses the exact example of what they did as an example of what is against the rules.

It is funny what you say is “not deceptive” is specifically called out as being against the rules.

Example B under what is “not allowed” states : “You and a group of friends collaborate in NFL contest to each draft a different QB to guarantee you aren’t competing directly with each other.”

If this isn’t an issue DK needs to burn these terms as this was exactly what they did. They could have at least been smart about it and mixed up the 300 lineups before entering them lol.

So as long as you’re married, it’s ok to collude, or as you put it “coordinate”. That is SPECIFICALLY against dk’s TOS. The problem here is it’s these contestants word of honor vs logical thinking. Really the only thing DK could really do is to take people that cheat on their website to court. This may seem laughable on the surface but what other options are there? DK is in a no win situation…they’re probably gonna get sued either way this decision goes unless they pay everybody out and give 2nd place a million and 3rd place 2nd place money etc etc. And then what about future contests? It’s going to happen again if something isnt done to solve the problem.

DK did this themselves by not cleaning up this issue/concern when it started happening a long time ago.

Exactly. They have done nothing and now they have a full blown scandal on their hands. This time picked up by major news sources. Not what you want if you’re looking to go public.

Basically all DK has to do is go back through past Millys and see if LU overlap exists between the two accounts.

LU overlap, or lack thereof, is not a smoking gun, especially when their LU similarities are not actually that high. ~70% is a lot, but it’s not the top of the bell curve.

Here’s a distribution of lineup overlap from week 17. It’s a natural bell curve, and they’re near the top but not at the top. If you saw them consistently at 90% to 95%+ overlap with no duplicates, then we could be concerned, but this isn’t over the top.

The bigger issue to me is the QB swapping in Wildcard weekend that happened, but that behavior doesn’t exist in the week 17 lineup distribution.

I did see this later and stand hilariously corrected. The guidelines are generally nonsensical and unenforceable without more detail except they literally did the thing that is a detailed example of what not to do. It’s so bad DK almost has no choice now.

I still don’t care at all – it does almost nothing to the average player’s chances of winning in large contests like this – but it does make it a lot funnier.

(And yeah – this is a slight troll since I’m disingenuously taking them at face value when they say they both build 150 and just talk about plays generally. I understand he’s obviously just coordinating all lineups and entering in her name to circumvent entry limits.)
