Does anybody know what is going on with Mississippi at the moment? We are not very material to any of these sites operations, which is further backed up by the fact nobody has mentioned us on this site.

To this point the attorney general has issued an opinion that under current law DFS is illegal.

Yes, we do have internet in Mississippi.

    ETA:
sandbagger, everything I have read has been rather unclear on what the AG plans to do next. The opinion was requested by the Gaming Commission (shocker).

The funniest part of the press release was it said the request was made by the Commissioner of Gaming Commission, along with other concerned citizens.

    “Other concerned citizens”. Yea right.

    Haha. Beat me to it!

Fellow Mississippian here; what’s the feeling you get on how much longer we’ll be able to access the sites (Fanduel, DK, etc.)? My interpretation of Hood’s complete press release was the any/all DFS was immediately illegal. Thanks.

I think you definitely interpreted the release correctly. However, there has not been any mention about a course of action, nor any updated news since Friday.

TBD I guess. I’ll ride the wave as long as possible. Very disappointing as the NBA provides a nice side income for me.

To DCoop and Putz, there is a company in central MS that has fiber technology which offers internet bandwith/access speeds equal or superior to Google fiber. Also, I happen to work for one of the fastest growing and well funded tech startups in the world. Based in MS….weird huh? Chances are my internet is faster than yours.

Mississippians have even started to wear shoes.

Didn’t think they could spell DFS in Mississippi……

    j/k I know it’s a great state.

  • deejones49

I used to live in Mississippi we was on dial up for 3 years

  • sandbagger

wow the mississippi shots are clever…. @rotoryan i agree with everything you said. PGA DFS was going to help me get through tax season.

I know this is beating a dead horse but why casinos feel like DFS is a threat is beyond my mississippi education.

It’s official for DraftKings now. Received an email from DK this morning that operations in MS will be paused as of February 18th. It does say they have already met with the Attorney General and the Governor, so maybe a solution can be reached in the near future.

I hate it as DFS golf is about to get fun.

  • Montez21

Any other DFS sites worth playing for us Mississippians? Or are all of them pausing operations too.

  • 1srekal

Seems like Yahoo is restricting Mississippi as well now from their email sent to HI and MS users today. I’m in Hawaii where the restrictions have been happening the past couple of weeks so I’m with yall =/

  • Brian4state

Still pissed about the decision in MS. I’ve played basically everyday for years now. Hopefully it gets resolved, but I seriously doubt it!

  • GAMBINOBOYS

I’m a marginally +Ev recreational player and I’m highly pissed. I guess every form of entertainment is now illegal in Mississippi. I was a lower stakes online poker player until Black Friday. Bummed

  • sandbagger

no they wont. no reason to even fight it in our state. sad day. unfortunately Jim Hood is in bed with the casinos…

    @brian4state hailstate

  • risaac67

I have played daily for years too. It is silly to outlaw daily when daily does not compete with casinos for patrons. The people who play daily don’t wake up and chose between going to a casino or playing fantasy sports. Two separate markets.

  • BobGP383

Here are a few sites that still let us Mississippians play: Draftfury, Fantasy Draft, and Fantasy Aces

  • deejones49

I’m in Mississippi for day and cant play

Hopefully this Sentate bill will pass and Governor will start sign into law by July 1st. Just makes me mad missing half of baseball season if it even passes!

  • bigloser11

The whole thing is a mess on a national scale. It seems it should be legal or not on a national basis, why have it outlawed in some states. If you live in an illegal state and are a very short drive to a legal state, you can play on an air pad.I live in CT and folks near the Ma. border drive over to play keno.Craziness!
