    Hey-

Was curious to hear some takes on roster construction for the MLB All Star Showdown contest. Although I am doing it to make the game more fun, I am intrigued by the best way to go about it. It is definitely a little hard to establish a strategy due to the unpredictability of rest, pitchers dual vs. offensive game, picking spots, and the fact that all pitchers are being scored as relief (higher points for strikeouts). I looked at some box scores from the previous years and it is looking like pitchers are the way to go. I also considered that 1 inning pitched with 1-3 strikeouts is 7-13 points, which equates to a batter hitting a home run pretty much (and the possibility of bonus points for win/save) What I can’t decide however, is what starting pitchers and relief pitchers will actually get into the game after looking at mixed results in previous box scores.

    My lineup currently is
    AL: Chris Sale/Blake Snell/Edwin Diaz (SP/SP/RP)
    NL: Jacob Degrom/Aaron Nola/Josh Hader (SP/SP/RP)

What are your thoughts on playing batters as opposed to pitchers, and on what pitchers to select based on probability of play? (Obviously, any news reports tomorrow will be relevant)

You are getting fooled by the title of the article, read it and it will tell you the NL is not the home team. The AL is the home team

    Correct.

CBS article is just saying the game is at an NL park, which it is.

the NL is NOT the home team.

“Why in the world wouldn’t the National League be the home team for the 2018 All-Star Game?

The answer is simple, and really only comes down to fairness: An NL ballpark has hosted every All-Star Game since 2015, when the Minnesota Twins hosted at Target Field. Since then, it’s been at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Petco Park in San Diego, Marlins Park in Miami and, now, Nationals Park in Washington D.C. Next season, Progressive Field in Cleveland will host, before the game heads to Los Angeles in Dodger Stadium. In 2016, despite being played at Petco Park, the AL was the home team.”

Was only gonna do 1 lineup but couldn’t help myself since it fell so short so I played 3 more lineups.
