Anyone playing the all star showdowns on fan duel and/or DK? Been browsing the web and not finding much info on them. Anyone have any thoughts?

I think Ryu and Verlander both pitch 2 innings and the hitters 1-6 will all get 2 at bats. Santana possibly getting 3 at bats being the hometown player and they will bieber in for one of those innings and probably get Lindor in for at least 2 at bats. Just my opinion though

I think this is probably about right. I do not, at all, trust Dave Roberts to let Ryu throw 2 innings though.

Also would imagine all starts get 2 AB’s, but after they get their 2nd they’ll start funneling out, except a few. Like Santana, as you mentioned, maybe Sanchez since McCann is the only official back up.

is anyone considering how if the game goes extra innings you would want the bench guy especially if hes the only one left at that position?

Yes and ownership and against weaker/less experienced pitching

I think playing bench bats in GPPs especially in the captain spot is wise, I think they will be significantly less owned and especially a power guy off the bench can easily outscore most if not all of the starters if they hit a dong

  • TheRyanFlaherty

It’s lame that even when I turn “remove non probables” off on the DK app, it still only keeps the starters.

  • Felixxberg

Santana at CPT, Ryu and Verlander, and then 3 starters. No bench player. It’s a 200 man GPP. Am I doing it right?

If you spent all the money.

Trout’s batting .467 obp .556 2 doubles 1 triple 2hr and 1 steal in 15 Ab and they are using over sized golf ball’s this year instead of baseball’s

Who do we think is the logical DH replacement for Bell? Muncy with Alonso replacing Freeman?

    Rendon/Bryant?

  • RatedDAL

I thought Rendon was not playing tonight.

2 of the homeruns in extra innings last year came from astros whose coach was making the calls. Only a sample size of one, but if game gets stretched out think the coaches might give some runway to their own players.

I have $700 left, but I can’t put one of my 3 starters at CPT instead of Santana. I’m going for the home guy! In a 20K+ entrant contest, I understand the need to have some 5%- owned players, but in a 200 man GPP, I don’t think it’s necessary. We shall see!

Someone’s going to hit 2 dingers and you’ll wish you had them in your captain spot

The last time anyone did that was 1981 Gary Carter and the other 4 times were before 1970 Ted williams went 4 for 4 with 2 Hr’s in 1946 no one’s getting 4 AB’s tonight

great timing for Verlander yesterday to comment on the juiced baseballs. ESPN was running a scroll on his comments throughout the HR Derby, as you saw the super-juiced baseballs on display.

I commented last night “imagine what would happen if 2000-super roided Bonds was allowed to hit with these balls.”

Alonso had his cousin throwing, who had lots of trouble throwing it over the plate, and he still hit plenty.

    Funny comments today:

    @JeffPassan

    More
Rob Manfred on some players’ belief that MLB intentionally juiced the baseball: “Baseball has done nothing, given no direction, for an alteration of the baseball.”

    as for multi-homer:

better chance no one homers in the game at all than someone hitting 2

He can’t get two hits on the road? He does it all the time.

7/29 three HRs over his career at Progressive Field

I think the odd’s are less than 1% that no one hit’s 1 or that anyone hit’s 2 in 2 or 3 AB’s.After Verlander spoke out there handing him a ball with a steel core and putting giant magnet’s over the wall’s in the outfield

Bellinger and Torres will be in both of my Showdowns.

Caused me to realize the NL has a nasty pitching LU tonight with
    Ryu,
    Kershaw
    DeGrom
    Buehler
    Castillo

Could keep the AL bats quiet early
