Noticed DK has games for today. Tried researching but not getting a lot of info. Going to try and focus on young guys trying to make impacts like the rookie Alonzo for the Mets competing with Smith for 1st base.

Nice! Any lessons learned? What brought you up there?

I personally had a lot of Randy Arozarena just mostly on accident and doubled my $10 of dollar entries for the day. I just had various stack of Cardinals and apparently I chose him. No process really led me to it.

Me too and also followed the beat writers

No rain in the forecast today expect little chance in Oakland. Chilly in all the games today too

Cole was 70% yesterday and finished with lowest SP total. I feel like a full fade of top SPs is the move, since people can literally afford every player they want. Some days it will really pay off.

If u can figure what hitters will be in the game for the last three innings against the gas can pitchers u will take down a tournament easily

I wrote up a blog post with as much info as I had gathered for myself personally and will try to post it here if it gets accepted or however that process works. Once it goes up, I will try to update it throughout the day depending on how busy I am at work.

Edit: It seems to be available? Let me know if it is viewable. I am also open to constructive criticism. https://rotogrinders.com/blog-posts/in-the-field-spring-training-2-27-19-2937130

I want to degen it up but just can’t. Scores are so close it makes it pretty difficult to be “right” when nobody gets more than a couple ABs.

Thanks! I will not make any promises, other than I will do it on days I have time. Should get easier as I have a format now as well as I should start reducing the time looking up beat writer’s as I get a good database of those.

Target Marquez, Cahill and maybe Hamels? I’d love to target any pitcher against that Cubs lineup but I know nothing about Volquez

He is returning from TJ surgery and only on a minor league deal.

Any tips on predicting who will come in to hit after the starters leave? If a guy hasn’t played in all 4 games so far is that an indicator he might play today also or more that he’s due for a rest?

I could be a fish and missing out on the bigger edges but unless we have any kind of confirmation of innings from guys not starting I stay away.

Miley, we heard yesterday he’d get two yesterday after an IP from Cole so that’s fine and today if we heard anything about Castillo/DeSclafani I’d have interest there.

Some of the tweets from beat writers show the actual line up card which sometimes shows other available hitters. Not all hitters travel if it is an “away” game. But that doesn’t really tell you who WILL come in. Just guessing from there. I personally am targeting top prospects that have come in for other games, but only one per lineup I build.

If you can catch a screen shot from the beat writers of the actual lineup, there’s about a 95% or better chance that the “available position players” are going to play the second half of the game. To be safe, I’d stay clear of any that have more than 8 position players listed as available, though, without anything else to confirm.

    Thanks guys!

I know the systems isn’t the same as regular season, but I am seeing multiple dependencies in the scoring. Nick Senzel has 2 hits and should also have an RBI. Luis Castillo has no stats at all and pitched a whole inning.

Edit: Well it seems like it is just taking a while to get it accurate, but it makes me worry in terms of how accurate everything ends up at the end of the day. Castillo now has his 1.05 points (Yay!) and Nick Senzel now has 3 hits with no RBIs or Runs which he has some.

It’s weird. The lag I get. But things like not having Wellington Castillo’s first at bat single until long after posting his second at bat RBI double I don’t get. Oh well, I’m just glad DK is offering it.

Also, I’m glad I trusted the Angels beat writer specifically saying the fans would see Adell today – anybody know why he was listed O and did not come in with the second wave? Anyway, I still have Lund to take me from chump change to…slightly more chump change!

To D4RK and Epic, thank you both for the Blog and the twitter links – I was about to give up on searching the CBS box score tweets for each game.

You’re welcome. I have meetings all morning tomorrow and it is a 1:05pm eastern start, so I will probably only have time to post an initial look without line ups and not updated throughout the morning.

I assume they are doing the scoring manually a lot more and that resulting in the weirdness. Regardless, I am also just happy to have baseball to play. Tried basketball for a few months and I could not get the hang of it.

  • RudyPujols

I just do $0.25 showdowns and small slates in NBA for the achievement crowns. MLB and PGA is the only thing I really get into.

I assumed that normal MLB rules would apply and played guys like Desclafani and Castillo partially based upon same (didn’t pan out even after Reds grab the early lead), but DK just gave the W to Cole Hamels. WTF?
