Noticed DK has games for today. Tried researching but not getting a lot of info. Going to try and focus on young guys trying to make impacts like the rookie Alonzo for the Mets competing with Smith for 1st base.

aaaaand Severino 40% are right back in the cash chase.

And Jack Flaherty gets 9 strike outs in 4 innings. Baseball is fun.

And Flaherty threw 7 strike outs.

I still take Max over Jack 10/10 times.

I was Nola/Flaherty until I saw no Betts, Bogaerts, Benitendi, etc. and switched Max in for Flaherty. Tinkering always F’s me. I’ve got 27 points of offense and I’m still in the min cash with Max. What could have been…

If any of u actually looked at his career spring stats and also realize aces rarely like to “show their stuff” in spring games

Scherzer at 4500 is an awful excuse for a spring game.

Do some homework and look for the pitchers trying to make a rotation or improve their rotation spot smh

I mean…you played him in one of your lineups did you not? lol

Just for insurance otherwise I typically avoid aces in spring. Another reason is managers are more cautious with her aces. That’s why they call me the brain

I looked back at his high school preseason games and he pitched 7 no hitters and hit 6 HRs – that is why I picked him!!

3/1189 if I didn’t swap Max in for Flaherty. I can live with 2x cash, though if that holds.

I don’t disagree with most of BTB’s premise, but I also couldn’t see playing a Velasquez against a strong lineup or an Alcantara over Max. I like Max’s 70% effort more than Velasquez’s or Alcantara’s max effort at equal price, even with chalkiness guaranteed. Seems like every other starter on today’s slate has a job locked down and I disagree that someone like Flaherty is pitching his arse off over rotational position; he is, however, young and a fiery, fierce competitor (I’m a Cards fan), so I expected you’d see him come out blazing. I just though the Phils bats (most starters active) would handle him ok, draw some walks, and he’d get into trouble such that his K’s were offset by ER a la Max’s outing (and JF was lucky to pitch out of trouble in the 2nd – pretty sure he had runners on the corners and no outs). I do think BTB is right generally, though, that a SP’s motivation is absolutely relevant to ST value and that some guys are going to just work on certain things and not care at all about results (Max strikes me as too competitive, though, to not care about his results, even in ST – just a hunch, nothing to back that up with).

    Hi guys, it’s me data

I broke down Max Scherzer career Spring Training and the past four years of him in Washington. I broke it down a couple of ways.

First I found a simple average of stat per inning pitched, second I multiplied that by the assumption of 4 innings pitched, third instead of per innings I calculated each stat per game.

That gave me two slightly different numbers that I could say was his expected amount of DK counting stats today.

From there I calculated expected DK points today (the numbers in yellow).

Now add in another 4 points if his team backed him up for a win.

I still feel very confident recommending him for spring training with an expected career 10-11 DK points career and more like 14 DK points based on his time as a National.

If you are not a numbers guy, I would ask you who is more intense and competitive no matter the situation that Mad Max. The dude batted for himself today.

I agree. Three very strong innings, and then three of the runs in the 4th were given up by Nats reliever after Scherzer left the game. Really bad luck.

On another note, I observed that full stack in spring training is not working as well as regular season, and bottom of the lineup hitters may be good targets in tournaments because each starting hitter is pretty much getting the same number of at-bats. Thoughts?

Anyone else have a “Free Exclusive MLB $500 Contest Ticket (03/06)” ticket in their DK account and have no idea why or see any contests to use it?

Yup, figured it was some kind of reward for playing all these ST slates lol

Edit: Checked email, it’s a freeroll for us degens who play Sevy

I also came in 2nd in the Shot (was first the whole day until that 7th inning Realmuto 1b + R. Obviously it’s not much with these awful contests but appreciate what you’ve been doing for us!

I see the email in spam now. Haha looks like there are exactly 1580 max entries in this Luis Severino pity party. It is nice that they offer this thing for the first weird start of the year, but if people can’t handle a late scratch because of injury, why are they doing this?

Glad to hear some positive results! I checked out when I thought all the starters were out yesterday, so when I looked at the final results, I was surprised by the Realmuto points. It ended up pushing a quarter entry and my cash game to be my only wins and even out my day.

I wonder if we could start compiling the winning LUs from the big contest to get an idea of this. It certainly seems in the dollar entry GPPS that mixed teams are winning. I can only remember one day it was a double stack.

My GPP strategy has been double stacks with at least one stacked pitcher, but I haven’t really won anything. Trying to avoid stacking 1-5 to avoid being exact matches to others.

  • JENSGT

What…no ticket for everybody who rode the Max coaster to sad town?

I tried to be different yesterday which was working super duper well until Aaron Judge homered. Walked away from the computer at that point. LoL. I had been hovering in the top 10 the first 3 innings or so.

Yes, I got one of these tickets. Good thing because it didn’t matter what pitcher i selected!
In an effort to avoid another last place sweat, which I am very good at getting into, anyone have any plays for today? Just need one or two to get me above the bottom 5%!!

Or give me another pitcher that will be scratched at the last minute so I can get another ticket!!

Full strength Boston and NYY lineups today. Should be chalky?

  • BobbyTheBrain

Good luck with your full strength lineups. Half of these guys just got home three hours ago and still have a BAC of over .18. I’ll stick to the guys trying to earn a roster spot. Newsflash it’s spring training good luck bro
