I have to chuckle a little bit when I see the experts still recommending different lineup approaches for cash and GPP in MLB. My experience starting last year and even more so this year has been that there is no difference anymore. Cash games are either infested with sharks or people are playing them just like GPPs. I’m seeing people hitting over 200 now in 50/50s and in some cases like yesterday, the cash line is even higher in the 50/50 than GPP! That should never happen, IMO. Before you say that is just a case of chalk going off, I looked and Mookie was the chalk play, 51% owned and he sucked. So did Strasburg. That should have lowered the cash line. Martinez was only 5% owned. If cash line is going to be the same or higher than GPP, then there is no reason to play them anymore.

I never liked playing straight up 50/50s because it is incredibly aggravating to have a negative ROI and the come in 1st place in a 50/50 with a high score and being locked into a tiny payout. No one celebrates 1st place in cash. I thought about just trying a full week of nothing but 50/50s and see what happens, but why even bother if they are no longer easier to cash? The biggest frustration with MLB is the now common scenario where one batter hogs all the scoring and points and 90% of the rest of the team does nothing. And now you don’t only need to nail just one of those guys, but like 3 or 4.

I scored 241 yesterday on FD, my highest ever, and yep, you guessed it, I only had it in a cash lineup. Great score and I still ended up losing money for the day. I guess I just need to stick to GPP from now on, and hoping I hit that one good lineup to make up for 90% of lineups bombing.

I played a few H2H contests in the past and the result was mixed at best. And I’m always afraid of playing against Moklovin or Fracloud consistently, because I’m a “vet” there ranked in the platinum level.

Valid concern. There was a stretch recently when I faced Moklovin three consecutive nights (beat him once!), although I think that’s because I was playing late slates. It’s easier to avoid those guys in the main slate, but it’d be easier still if more people were playing QuickMatch. In this case, people like us NOT playing serves only to magnify the “dominance” of those sharks. If QuickMatch were used more widely, those guys would be increasingly marginalized in H2H settings.

I really haven’t played MLB all year but have some time today. Are you guys saying I should just play my GPP lineup as the cash game lineup? I actually like that idea if everyone else is doing the same thing.
