I’m with you Jasen, weird card but great time to discuss. A lot of the favorites are guys who are decision prone.

I was loving Magny, but went back and watched some more of Kunimoto — the guy is super durable. He’s going to be a tough out and could put Magny on his back for a significant amount of time.

I’m curious, anyone have any thoughts on Pat Walsh after missing weight by that much? Guy looked really bad at weigh-ins. I was thinking that Walsh might be a under the radar finisher on this card, but its tough to support a guy fighting at altitude that missed weight so badly.

Additionally, although a good amount of money is coming in on Thatch a lot of the more intelligent MMA experts are sticking with Benson in this fight. What’s everyone thinking there?

  • Jasen777

Walsh looked terrible, certainly contributed to me taking a lot of Kelly.

The main thing that worries me about Thatch is the layoff. His size advantage will negate Benson’s wrestling IMO, and his power will be fa greater than anything Benson has faced. Moving from LW to WW is a big difference. Benson could win, but it’d likely be by decision unless Thatch completely gasses.

so who were your big plays?

  • Jasen777

Nobody I absolutely loved, but biggest on Thatch and Kelly.

main card here we go!!!! after three prelims, with six main televised fights to go, we have the DK favorite coming through in all three fights. no one has eclipsed the elusive 100 point mark yet, as two fights have gone to decision and one finished in a second round TKO (albeit via a questionable knee to the head of a downed opponent). so far:

    Zach Makovsky- $10700- 57.5pts- DecW
    Timothy Elliott- $9300- 24.5pts- L

    Chas Skelly- $10900- 94pts- 2rTKo
    Jim Alers- $9100- 19.5pts- L

    Efrain Escudero- $10000- 79pts- DecW
    Rodrigo deLima- $9900- 21pts- L

so we are now through 6 of 9 fights on DK tonight. hopefully most people are doing Valentine’s related things with their Mrs or Mr or whatever it is that tickles your fancy. sadly my soon to be wife is 4000km away, so here i am. the first three fights on the main card were as follows:

    Chris Kelades- $7900- 5pts- L
    Ray Borg- $12000- 75.5pts- 3rSUB

    Michael Prazeres- $9200- 23.5pts- L
    Kevin Lee- $10800- 67pts- DecW

    Dan Kelly- $9300- 55.5pts- DecW
    Patrick Walsh- $10600- 28pts- L

that last fight was one of the worst i have can recall in recent memory from both sides. not unusual to see one bad/outmatched fighter, but two…well that was a sight for sore eyes. at least the judges saw fight to take pity on the old man (woot! old man power!) and reward Kelly the win.

final three fights, still wide open in all contests, as there have been ZERO round one finishes…SWEDEN this is not

    Kumo just got worked

The pricing made this card kind of tough as it has been very chalky (outside Kelly, who was even money but the only good punt.). Let’s hope Holloway can get a quick first round end and help me out.

  • xMiami2Ibiza

yeah, other than kelly it has been faves all the way. co-main, here we go

  • Jasen777

Didn’t think Thatch’s ground game would be that bad, giving the back up immediately…

  • xMiami2Ibiza

another dumpster fire of a night for me. thank god its -40 out, i can go freeze my soul

  • Skycap

Bendo should go back to lightweight. He needed a big win like tonight to get his confidence back

  • gjtgjtgjt

Screw Holloway for not finishing, could have been a fun night and made up for me dumping Hendo due to reading too much about Thatch.

i bet mostly over 2.5 rds. did ok benson was gold

  • Jasen777

Did well in cash games with only a 225.5, but went 0 for 13 with my GPP lineups (which is pretty impressive actually).
