Trouble in one spot, wind in others, here’s the highlights of my forecast work:

CLE @ CWS – Rain here isn’t a legit concern, 10% chance of seeing a sprinkle, but we could play right through anything that falls. The more interesting story here is the sustained wind at 15-20 mph, with wind gusts around 30!!! Sounds juicy, right? Well, the winds are cutting across the field, not blowing out, not blowing in… so I have that as a wash, I don’t really see it benefiting the pitcher or the hitter. Awesome wind… wasted :/ GREEN.

NYY @ DET – Windy again…. crosswind again. Double-whammy. GREEN.

CHC @ PITT – There’s a line of showers that has to move through the area before this game can play, but it’s been weakening, and I think it continues to do so. It’s ugly, but it shouldn’t be ugly enough to postpone. Late start or delay(s) possible, so rolling with a pitcher in this one seems a bit risky. YELLOW/ORANGE… but leaning pretty strongly towards the YELLOW side.

That’s all for today, hit me up on twitter (@KevinRothWx) for a cornucopia of weather information and DFS fun. As always, it’s just a forecast, not a promise…

    Happy Grinding everyone! – Kevin

Wind that would go left to right, right to left as opposed to in or out.

Not blowing out or in. LF to RF or vice versa

I can… usually if the wind is blowing out it’s great for hitters (the ball carries farther), if it’s blowing in, it’s great for pitchers. If it’s just blowing across the field, it doesn’t really give an advantage either way.

    Hope that helps,
    Kevin

    UPDATE:
Kevin Roth: I’m feeling better about the Pittsburgh game now than I did when I recorded it, my tone was a bit off on that one.

Not worthy of mention. It was windy this afternoon, but winds will drop off sharply before/during the game.

Should I be worried about Burnett?

I wouldn’t start either pitcher in pitt because of delay and start time possibilities

    Much appreciated.

What generates the weather on the lineups page, it still has the Sox game blowing 20 mph out to left

Feeling better and better about PITT game. Still a risk/reward play for pitchers, but I wouldn’t call you crazy for trying.

These are swirling winds, so they can wreak havoc on pop-ups and fly outs! Chicago and Detroit!
