I wanted to start a new thread regarding this because it raises a different issue than the previously related thread. You can find the initial thread here:

    https://rotogrinders.com/threads/verification-issues-on-fanduel-can-t-withdraw-962337?page=2

    LATEST UPDATE

I have been accused of cheating. Here is the latest email form FD.

    “Thank you for your patience.
Upon review of the account, it has come to our attention that you have been involved in the fixing of contests with bogus accounts to inherit winnings, which is an explicit violation of our Terms of Use policies. For that reason, your account will be closed. I have temporarily reopened your account in order to allow for you to withdraw your remaining balance.
Please let me know if you have any additional questions.”

I have never done anything REMOTELY close to cheating. I’m sure this was an oversight. I’m sure there were many things that could have flagged my account….and I requested someone contact me via email or phone asap to clear this up. I did however, want to withdraw my funds just in case. I went to my account … and in doing so noticed that they had also removed my pending tickets. (I had a couple tickets for the Sunday Million I won the other night). They were gone. So now they’re kicking me out….not offering me a chance to clear up any suspicions that they may have (which I absolutely 10000% can clear up without any hint of suspicious activity) and STEALING from me to boot.

Please note: this is NOT about the $50, or the money in lost winning from last night…..the money is the money….this is the principle and bad business practices I want to address. Oh, and just in case you had suspicions about my entries and my lineup….here is a link to a cancelled lineup used in every entry….one of the handful of entries they cancelled….
    https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B-M2xt18jhSpSFE2OXQ0X3FuZG8/view?usp=sharing

At this point I had to contact an attorney friend of mine…..juuuuust in case it becomes necessary. The LAST thing I EVER want to do. Ugh.

I emailed ‘support’ and asked, no PLEADED, with someone to contact me asap to clear this up. And this was the reply.

“As previously stated, your account has been temporarily reopened in order for you to withdraw the remaining balance.
Please let me know if you have any other questions.”

Huh??? Did you even READ my email, robot support guy?

So I followed up with another request to be contacted…..I said I will gladly take my business elsewhere as it is apparent that you dont want me as a customer. But I am not leaving without my money. So please let me know what is going to happen regarding the tickets you stole from me.

    I received this response.
    “Hi,
Unfortunately, we won’t be able to credit your account with that money. Your account will remain open for another 24 hours after which point it will be permanently closed.”

I have no idea what to do at this point. I downloaded my history, took screenshots, saved all the correspondence Ive ever had with them….all of which is headed to my buddy attorney’s desk. All they had to do was contact me to clear this up….but this is how they handle it.

Could be a number of things. I’m sure they take every precaution to guard against multi-accounting. And I don’t blame them for that. The safer the better.

But I was not so much as offered a chance to clear anything up, let alone given any specific reasons or details.

  • cburton27

You must have done something??? Why would they shut you down for NO reason ?

Edit: oops, you answered while I was typing. Sucks bud, sorry.

  • winsome

You have to have some idea why they think you cheated. If there’s no fire there wouldnt be smoke. Why would they arbitrarily pick you?

  • bluestooges

I’m not even remotely insinuating that you cheated, but why would they accuse you of something for no reason? Even if you have done nothing wrong there has to be something that would trigger that response from them. I am not defending Fan Duel by any means but why would they waste their time in banning you just for the hell of it if there is not something that prompted them to do it?

  • bigticket

Hopefully they black list you throughout the industry and share with other sites if you in fact did cheat…

You yourself said “I’m sure there were many things that could have flagged my account” so why don’t you explain what those things are.

  • tianyihe

How do you fix contests? Did you create a 20 man single entry league and multi enter with different accounts?

Like i said, it could be any number of things. Once I was put through that recent verification process…is when this was done. Multiple players from same IP address? A few guys at my old office signed up same place same time. My father has account with same name…but that was cleared up already about a year ago…and its been inactive since anyways.

The main issue is that how it has handled in addition to them not even so much as contacting me to clear it up. Whatever it may be that was flagged.

    Attorney General Schneiderman?

  • aka_the_goat

If you didn’t cheat I certainly hope it get’s cleared up but quite honestly I’m really happy they are flagging and deactivating suspicious accounts.

  • Trollowitz

This DFS thing is going to be one hell of a train wreck. I enjoy DFS, but I admit that I also stare at bad accidents when I pass them. Either way, I am going to enjoy what is left of this. The attempt to beat the rake and the inevitable derailment of the entire industry. I feel that I am probably going to get screwed no matter what happens. So goes life. Cheers.

Me too but the fact that it’s happening all of a sudden is discouraging as it’s most likely a stopgap to holes in their protocols.

  • thechukler

I LOVE that they’re flagging, verifying and taking every precaution possible. I am ALL for that. And I want nothing more than this industry to succeed. I have no qualms whatsoever that they are doing these things. I’d MUCH rather them put me through hell than allow me to play on a less safe platform.

    My main issue…

All I wanted was an explanation as to what raised suspicion….and an opportunity to clear it up. I am 1000% confident that I can clear it up….because I don’t cheat. Not only did I receive neither an explanation nor opportunity to clear up suspicions….but they essentially took money from me as well.

    That’s not right.

  • jtwfantasy

I had a similar issue like this on Fanduel last football season. They really need to be more active in explaining to customers why their account was flagged. I also had to make a thread on this forum to get attention of support. Its honestly ridiculous the lack of communication. If it makes you feel better my account was reinstated, but I was never told why I was flagged in the first place.

  • einars

they’ve accused you of cheating and presumably have some grounds (you even admitted that there were things that might have set off flags that you are cheating…kinda curious what those are). given that they think you are cheating why would they let you keep tickets won while you were cheating???? seems like a normal response to someone cheating. IF (operative word here) they think you have been cheating why should they then reward you by giving you the cash value of tickets won while cheating

if you are able to clear your name with them i am sure they will reinstate all your tickets. it is frustrating that they would not give you any evidence of why they think you are cheating.

I believe you and you should get a chance to clear your name with them… they should also respond to your inquiries as soon as possible..the question is what exactly did you do that you have to clear it up??? I don’t want you to answer me here it is none of my business..this is an issue between you and FD but just wanted to point out if you can clear it up something had to hazy to begin with..I honestly hope this all gets resolved for you and you did nothing wrong so don’t take previous statement as me accusing you of wrong doing Because I am not..good luck and I hope this was all a mistake and big misunderstanding…

This would still be losing money. The rake.

  • Bootlegger

The same thing happened to me during MLB. I was sent a freeroll email for a survivor contest. I entered the contest and advanced through the first two rounds. Then one afternoon my account was locked. I reached out to Fanduel and they stated that I must have cheated the system because I was entered into a contest I was not eligible to play in. The required me prove how I entered the contest. I forwarded the email to them that invited me to play, and the reinstated my account. The refused to let me continue in the contest. It seems like they penalize some without cause, but turn their eye to the issues causing todays problems with DFS.

Thats really the crux of the issue. They have such a terrible communication problem. At the very least, give me the opportunity to clear up whatever it is you think is suspicious. If my proof/explanation isn’t good enough….ban me.

I don’t understand why that is so difficult. I hate to say this….because its so cliche around here….but if I played 10-20-30x the volume i currently do….would it be so hard to get their attention?

swim had their account closed for shifting the tax liability of winnings to a Canadian through contests (i suppose to pay 10% rake instead of 35% taxes). im not sure if that would fall under fixed contests or if they’d care but they cared in his instance.

I’m inclined to believe thechukler. To people who say, “why would they waste their time” and “where there’s smoke there must be fire” and similar stuff, you must be luckiest a-holes alive (i.e. the lucky pr—ks who keep beating me) never to experience idiocy from organizations/bureaucracies that is without reason. I experience stuff like this all the time (e.g. still waiting on money owed to me from a medical provider who overcharged me over a year ago for a hospitalization procedure even though I have talked to and written to them at least 25 times and most of the times they agree they owe me the money but never pay!) You who don’t see it aren’t really that lucky, you are just not perceptive and have no imagination to foresee the many scenarios where such BS can happen.

Anyway, I believe him for two main reasons. One, I don’t see him bothering to get on here and complain if it isn’t true — what is he gaining, some sympathy from a few people he doesn’t even know and will probably never hear from again? Two, I got booted off my Yahoo e-mail account a year ago and they (and Google and others) did the same thing and didn’t give me any explanation other than continually answering my questions and requests with the same basic replies along the vague and general lines of, “It has come to our attention that your account was possibly in violation of our policies.” Never any explanation of what I did (or what they think I did). Had that account around 15 years and had many valuable e-mails saved there including info I was using to write a book (lesson learned, BACK UP EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE). Wouldn’t let me retrieve a single thing, wouldn’t talk to me, wouldn’t do squat. Google it and you will see how unbelievably common this is.

It is entirely possible he did something “wrong” and doesn’t realize/remember it. My guess is that if multiple people signed up from the same IP address that is the problem. No telling why it was just now discovered by FD or now is a problem but obviously there is heightened awareness of potential cheating with the recent scrutiny of DFS. I enter thousands of sweepstakes online and have had that very problem with some when my wife also enters from the same IP address. We are not breaking the rules but good luck trying to get anyone to explain that to as the sponsors do pretty much what they want.

Yeah, this is long, but I hope it’s enough to tell the naysayers they are WRONG and need to open up their minds to what really happens out there and that it doesn’t have to follow your preconceived notion that everything follows a rational logic.

  • thechukler

Let me clear this up bc it seems to be a popular thought. What did I do?

These are the only things that come to mind….and all of which i totally understand could be flagged.
(And again, my main issue is that I have not been explained to nor given the chance to clear anything up.)

I have nothing to hide and will gladly openly explain whatever had come to mind to this point.

    1) I created an account for my recently retired 66 year old father over a year ago. As you can imagine he’s not all that tech savvy, but the commercials sucked him in. I am a junior, thus we have the same name. That account was suspended almost immediately. (Totally understandable ) I emailed support explaining the situation, asked them how I should proceed bc I wanted it all to be on the up and up. Provided them both of our IDs at the time as well. I assumed that was cleared up…and since…of course, I dont even think he has logged in. But that obv could be one flag.

    2) I started using the RG lineup builder and entering gpp with it this NBA season. I dont know if that flags anything….but I thought maybe it might. I had ever auto-entered prior to this season.

    3) My old office had three guys who play DFS. Two of them may have created accounts around the same time as each other and from the same location/IP…our office. (My account was originally created in 2011….and has no affiliation with these 2 guys).

I can’t think of anything else that could possibly be suspicious aside from these probable causes. And these are also incredibly easy to clear up and or prove are completely straight. But I was never extended the chance.

  • littlekona

I sense there is more here as few of your statements sound like half truths and seem open to possible wrong doing…I’d bet it’s one of three things. Multi accounting, charge back scheme, or what they call in the poker world “Chip Dumping”…These sites have very good security plus have no obligation to explain why they do not want your business just like a Vegas Casino can not take your action if they so choose. One thing I would like to see here though would be a dedicated roto grinder rep who can file dispute claims/tickets directly with the DFS sites for a fair resolution.
