Pretty sure drafting is going to be huge in qualifying. Could lead to a jumbled up starting lineup.

i punt the cheapest driver this allows me 3 studs plus whatever

While I know speed has been capped with the new package, keep an eye on Ford tomorrow at practice. Speed is king at this two mile track, along with handling. Ford did not have any speed today in one lap runs. It’s not uncommon for a driver or a team to be off in speed but when the entire manufacturer is off it becomes concerning.

FYI, rourke, punting the lowest priced driver(s) at this track is not the best strategy. Cali typically has little attrition which is what those low priced drivers need in order to score points.

Welp, going to repeat what I said on here at Vegas…

“Don’t think group qualifying will continue through the end Of the season at races with this package.”

You are partially correct. NASCAR already said there will be a new format for Texas but it won’t be single car. Also, looks like Ford found some speed for qualifying or at least did a good job drafting.

So byron has arguably been faster than menard in practices but everywhere I ready says that byron hasn’t showed speed and that menard is the play. Awfully confusing

  • Rodg1111

New to nascar and I have a question. In a large field gpp would it be smart to leave some salary to try and differentiate more? In the past weeks it just seems like mid priced and expensive guys are all decently owned and my lineups look a lot like others

Neither are the play, unless you can’t get a few hundred to get Bowman

  • Luctyl99

No data to back that up? Simply telling me that neither of them are the play means nothing lol

Menard is perfectly fine IMO. I’ve got him and Bowman.

My problem is that he says neither are the play but gives no insight. Clearly no lineup is going to be made with all guys above menard, which tells me that he is picking someone below menard.

The decision for me is who to pay up for. Right now I have Keso. But I’m thinking about going Larson?

This has been the problem for me all day. I like both keslowski and Larson as well. But as of right now I like too many mid range guys to fit one of them and truex. And I refuse to ho below menard

If you look at the last several race results at California it will lead you to who to pay up for. Perhaps the new package changes things but clean air is the king still and I expect similar results to previous California races.

I don’t post data here, but if you look at the P2 and P3 10 lap averages, you will see Bowman has speed (3rd and 4th), as well as a nice starting position. In P2 and P3 he was 8th. So a car starting 23rd with top 10 speed seems like a good play to me, rather than similar drivers, similar prices with not as much speed.
