    Bueller?

  • starstx

Ready for chaos and carnage of the highest order … not happy they canceled qualifying … a lot of valuable plays out there. It looks like Newman and Houff failed pre-qualifying inspection twice and had a crew member tosses and lose 15 minutes of practice next week but they will not have to start at the rear of the field.

I am not positive on this but I think Byron going to a backup car means he will start at the rear and be scored from original qualifying position. Can someone confirm? Not sure if this is still the case since qualifying was canceled.

My picks for this race where anything can happen … I can tell you I am high on Jones/Hamlin and Preece/DiBenedetto and fading Harvick/Elliott.

Interesting note that this is the 2nd race using the new Nascar package for Superspeedways using tapered spacing instead of restrictor plates … I believe this package was used at Talladega. Not sure how much this changes things over the long haul or provides a little extra value to certain drivers.

    Good Luck everyone!

Byron will start from the rear and be scored from his original position (12th).

So last night I won a FRWC $15 Qualifier Ticket. When does this contest run? I don’t see anything in the lobby.

  • starstx

I do not see anything in there either … I would assume one will be available next race

Bold prediction: Keselowski takes out top 15 cars three laps into the race because he refuses to lift.

I would love to see Byron give em the ole Cole Trickle right outta the pits 😂

This is going to be Preece tonight

Larson will start from the back of the field. Original start position was 13th.

Joining Larson at the rear for unapproved adjustments will be: the No. 77 Chevrolet of Justin Haley (34th), the No. 53 Chevrolet of Joey Gase (40th) and the No. 62 Chevrolet of Brendan Gaughan (39th).

Additionally, William Byron will start at the rear in the No. 24 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet for going to a backup car after his vehicle sustained damage during practice at Daytona. Byron was slated to start 12th

All these guys moving to the back do not matter at Daytona.

    Its pouring apparently

  • RichDaeh

Radar shows numerous thunder cells lined up heading directly over the track. There will be a long delay.

  • Moszman

80% or higher for thunderstorms until after 10 pm, may not run until tomorrow night.

  • miamimike

@nick I agree but I was correcting the wrong information above.

The race will probably run tonight. Tomorrow the forecast calls for 30-40 percent chance of rain the entire day until about 7pm.

Forecast tonight after 11 looks good, so I’d say expect a midnight to 1 am start time

Cool. A morning race instead of a night race. Only 3 more hours of watching track driers go round and round and another round after round of meaningless TV fluff to kill the time.. …wow a video of Ronald Reagan just said start your engines by phone!

Regarding Newman and Houff … this is from the Nascar site. It may or may not matter to you personally but it is informational. And people usually ask if it changes their qualifying position which would matter for scoring purposes. Passing it along that it does not change their qualifying position. Starting from the back could matter in terms of odds getting caught up in an early wreck increasing slightly. If I am wrong about Newman and Houff … apologies but that is the source I got it from unless they changed it from yesterday.

NASCAR officials treated this as a pre-qualifying technical inspection, meaning both cars will not be forced to drop to the rear of the field before the green flag. Newman is set to start 18th, while Houff will take off from the 32nd starting spot on Saturday night.

Bob Pockrass saying they probably will not start the race if it is after 11pm. And just now teams pushing generators back to garage stalls … not a good sign … may get called and have us waiting until tomorrow and see what that brings. Ugh … another rain delay cmon

  • Moszman

Not starting tonight that late, if the weather is good for tomorrow night then that’s when they will run.

  • Moszman

Postponed til 1 tomorrow but it will probably be later than that.

That would really break precedent of how Nascar handles rain delays. Can’t remember the last time they willingly put a race on Sunday night other than the 600…

30-40% rain/storms until 7 pm tomorrow night then clear. Saying 1 but probably later.
