If they started at 11am today … track is sunny and dry. Temps a little cooler. Better chance to get a full race in.

They just moved the race up from 1:22 to 1:04 ET. Really hope we do not get a broken up race by rain delays.

61% chance of rain today not sure what time and drops to 25% chance tonight. Race has to get to 100 laps to be official. They cant start a race after 11:30pm due to Daytona Beach curfew.

    We shall see what happens.

They made a really poor decision. If they started in the morning, they would’ve gotten it in, but they did this to make the TV people happy.

The most important thing in my opinion should be to get in a full race without any delays IF possible. I get the whole TV ratings and money deals, sponsors, commercials etc. But when the race is not started on time at the normal scheduled time … all bets should be off and the race be ran at the best time possible to get the race completed uninterrupted. If that means you have to move it up 1 hour and part of the beginning of the race is at the same time as USWNT then so be it. It is not Nascar’s fault the race was delayed and postponed yesterday. It is Nascar’s fault for the crap show we got today and a rain shortened race that could have been completely avoided. They should have a plan in advance to address these issues and the flexibility built in to change the starting time if needed in advance and have everyone on board.

Agree integrity of the sport/race matter more than TV. If they had the option to start earlier they should have, the radar was not optimistic for the rest of the day.

pretty frustrated about this. NASCAR butchered this whole process and I lost a bunch as a result.

Had race winner bets on a lot of drivers that had a real shot had race been run to completion

    Elliott 11/1 ×2
    Blaney 14/1 ×2
    Larson 18/1
    Jones 20/1, 34/1
    JJ 22/1, 27/1
    Byron 34/1
    McDowell 70/1
    Ragan 80/1
    Buescher 95/1, 70/1

    added today

    Kurt 16/1
    Blaney 16/1, OUT
    Truex 18/1
    Larson 25/1
    JJ 28/1
    Byron 37/1
    Jones 37/1, OUT
    Buescher 75/1
    Ragan 80/1, 75/1, OUT
    McDowell 85/1, 75/1

What compounded the losses was the race being pushed to Sunday because then I bet Saturday before the scheduled time and then again Sunday…

and then of course all the FD entries, which were a disaster as I used many drivers starting at the back but not the scrubs like Haley, who have no shot at winning a full race.

Who is more important? NBC or fans at the track? Apparently to Nascar the answer is NBC. That’s the real issue here.

The right thing to do was to run the race at 2 am Sunday morning for fans at the track. The next best was 11 am in conflict with women’s soccer or whatever.

The worst time for the fans was 1pm or later on Sunday. It’s not an integrity issue so much as a core fanbase issue. Anyone who spends $ to see your race is more important than a TV company. Nascar can’t survive without fans, it can without tv.
