Note: Data and Rankings are Cup series only. Green Flag Passes, Quality Passes, Lead Changes, and Cautions standardized to 100 miles per driver to account for differences in miles per race and number of drivers in field. Lead Lap and all DNF categories standardized to drivers per race. All statistics updated through most recent race (Darlington Raceway, 9/2/2018).

    Data and Analytics Links

    TBD

    Comparable Tracks (alphabetical order)

Martinsville Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway, Phoenix International Raceway, Pocono Raceway, Richmond International Raceway

Note: Indianapolis Motor Speedway is a unique track. Under some categorizations it is a Superspeedway (tracks 2.5 miles or longer) but it doesn’t race like Daytona or Talladega, for example. This may change somewhat in 2019 if NASCAR adopts rule changes requiring restrictor plates at the Brickyard.

    Last Six (6) Race Winners

    — 7/29/2012: Jimmie Johnson
    — 7/28/2013: Ryan Newman
    — 7/27/2014: Jeff Gordon
    — 7/26/2015: Kyle Busch
    — 7/24/2016: Kyle Busch
    — 7/23/2017: Kasey Kahne

Last Six (6) DK and FD Fantasy Points Leaders

7/29/2012: Jimmie Johnson (99.75 DK Fpts) – Jimmie Johnson (71.4FD FPts)
7/28/2013: Jimmie Johnson (74.75 DK Fpts) – Ryan Newman (63.5FD FPts)
7/27/2014: Jeff Gordon (83 DK Fpts) – Denny Hamlin (67.8FD FPts)
7/26/2015: Kyle Busch (76.75 DK Fpts) – Kyle Busch (65.3FD FPts)
7/24/2016: Kyle Busch (107.25 DK Fpts) – Kyle Busch (74.9FD FPts)
7/23/2017: Kasey Kahne (67.5 DK Fpts) – Kasey Kahne (69.9FD FPts)

Note: For analytical purposes, the 2017 race should largely be disregarded as it ended under caution and was overall a non-typical Brickyard race.

For anyone here waiting for me data/analytics from me (yes, 1 or 2 people that I know of anyways) sorry, but I’ve had a massive headache today and since my brain is 50% useful on a good day, nothing will be forthcoming… besides, I’m in a contract dispute with RG… they want to pay me $0 for 20 hours of work, when right now I get paid $0 for 10 hours of work !!!

    A travesty, JK, LOL !!!

Anyways, I have done zero NFL work so far this week, and since my Astrologer said I will win the milly-maker tomorrow as long as I do at least a minimal amount of work to prepare, I really need to work on football too….

While I will keep playing NASCAR for the remainder of the season, with the dwindling GPPs on DK and competing time needed to work on NFL and, soon, NBA I will probably not be posting much of anything for the remainder of the NASCAR season….

    Though….. As always….

I look forward to next NASCAR season and would love to hear if anyone has ideas on how to better analyze races….

    Mathematically, of course. :)

In the meantime, expect mostly stupid, nonsensical, sarcastic, and ironical comments from me here for the rest of the season (no sadly for most of you, I’m not leaving altogether); though I will post an occasional tidbit or two on what the data says…. :)

NFL or Nascar? Hmmm? Both! haha
Would this be a good race just to kind of randomly pick guys since there was no practice or qualifying mostly using place diff for the most part? Does one peson tend to pick up most of the dominator laps here? From what the first post here shows it looks like it’s a tough track to pass on?

Took a stand today…30% Ky Busch, no Harvick, Jones, Suarez (still being talked up). Went heavy on Hamlin, Larson, Chase and JJ…threw in some Newman, McMurray, Buescher and AJ since they should be low owned. Couple flyers on Bubba and AD. Underweight on chalk T Dillon, Byron and Menard. Did stick with Kenseth. GL

No, ownership % have already been seen. Also, if playing xfinity you need to make sure the cup drivers are racing. I heard some if not all will bypass since the cup race is second.

As of last night blaney still racing both. His spotter:
@joshtwilliams there seems to be a lot of confusion…looking for clarity. Is Ryan running the double tomorrow?
Yes, we are doing double duty! 🏁🏁

  • bigperm0107

Thanks for that info…it helps a bunch.

    @bobpockrass

The four drivers who get Cup points (Blaney, ADillon, TDillon and Elliott) are planning to race the Xfinity race.

    @bobpockrass

Competition caution for Xfinity Lap 10 and then stage end Lap 30. Cup race will still have two competition cautions at Lap 10 and Lap 30.

  • Jnvrmind

Running two races back to back sounds like a long day.Glad I only have to sit on my couch to do both.

the DK sportsbook did not reopen betting

DFS-wise it makes sense it’s still locked, but the sportsbook dropped the ball

Thru a single bullet in xfinity and lost three of my six drivers on that wreck. And of course the driver who created the wreck, T Dillon is still on track…Sadler, Cindric and Boyd all out.

  • eKing

Funny part is, I swapped Dillon out at the last second and he knocks the racer I put in his place. I can’t say I didn’t see that coming, but it was only $20.

  • bigperm0107

    cindric here too. 100%

  • bigperm0107

    Was Sadler high owned?

Thanks. Sorry man, that really sucks. He must have been a good play. I have been around here long enough to know that you know your stuff. Speaking of that…do you think running a double so close together is going to impact any of the cup guys for the cup race?

No impact since it’s a cool day, if 90+ then possibly. I also don’t think it gives them any advantage since this is a different package than what the cup cars will have.

Sweet…driver #4 of 6 just took his car to garage, Annett…I imagine Allgaier and A Dillon will end up joining them eventually…lol

  • bigperm0107

dang, that is rough. gotta love nascar! maybe you are getting all your bad luck out on the Xfinity and will be lucky in the cup.

Lol, I will be rooting hard for Hamlin and Kyle this afternoon, Larson that is…I own 70% Larson to his 13% field ownership and 45% Hamlin to his 8%….

In the big DK contest, the shocker has to be Martin Truex, Jr. at 17.7%.

Truex, Jr. has a max place differential score of 2 DK fantasy points (and will start the race with -36 place differential points… yes he should move up quickly but how far?). He also has very little chance of getting even a small percentage of the very few Indy dominator points available.

Daniel Suarez moving to the back at 27.3% seems pretty high as well. I was thinking Truex, Jr. at around 5% and Suarez at 10-15% would have been about right.

Also, looks like a fair amount contestants have rostered both Truex, Jr. and Suarez together in the same lineups….

    Bold strategy….
