How’s everyone doin tonight tonight? We excited for the night race or what. Maybe it is me … but feels like without the crazy group qualifying … building lineups has some semblance of normalcy this week … feeling good about this race

  • starstx

Can someone tell me what the deal is with Hemric … there was a lot of excitement from what I recall early on and he is laying an egg every week

The deal is he isn’t a very good driver. The hype around him was an xfinity championship he “won” by just having the best finish at Homestead after pointing his way there.

Plus he is driving the #8 which is supposed to be a big deal.

IMO, fade Hemric for Ty Dillion as they are about the same price, same equipment, and Ty Dillion is a more proven driver.

By the way, watch the pricing this week. Bowyer for example is probably second or third at Richmond in skill…. great value play.

It’s a tough week tho to decide who will win. I’d say it is down to Ganassi, JGR, and SHR unless something crazy happens but on those teams that still leaves at least 8 cars I’d expect to have a good chance at a win.

  • starstx

Thanks for the update on Hemric. So it was a lot of overhype to start the year. I mean he started off in the 6800 range which is in Menard and Byron territory and last 4 races avg 30 finish. Agree with you on ole Ty … he is my top play in that range as well. There are a lot of interesting plays this week and I have a lot of drivers when I project finishing position are coming up very close to each other. Cant wait to see how it plays out.

  • starstx

I am no expert but drivers I like this week aside from the obvious ones are Hamlim and Bowyer in thay range. Call me crazy but I like Larson. I think he has been racing better than his results indicate. I also like Almirola, Newman and a flyer on Wallace. 50/50 on DiBenedetto. Fading Blaney and Menard. Dont know what to do with Jones, Buescher and A Dillon. My lineups are set … good luck everyone.

Are you confusing him with Tyler Reddick? Hemric never won in the XFINITY series though he came close to winning a few races.

Everything else you said was pretty much spot on, though all it takes at Richmond is to stay on the lead lap. Like we saw last night with Stephen Leicht in the XFINITY series, you do not have to be a great driver or be in the best equipment.

I do think if I was making 2-3 lineups I would have no Hemric but would probably at least think about it a bit around the 20 mark.

I think the expectations for rookies is too high many times, including Daniel Hemric. It just outlines how much more difficult cup is compared to xfinity and how stacked the field is. Look at Ryan Preece this year, he was touted as a great driver by many that just hadn’t been given a chance, they’ve had comparable results and I can’t say JTGs equipment is that far from from Childress this year. Chris Buescher is only 2 places behind Austin Dillon in average finish. Just think it takes time to learn and adapt, and unfair at this point in the season to say they’re a bad driver.

  • Steverino01

Rookies always have a hard time in Cup. The cars are heavier and harder to drive than Xfinity and Truck, plus the competition is greater. Heck even Jeff Gordon struggled as a rookie. I usually wait until they return to a track for a second time before considering picking a rookie.

    Inspection…

Wow … Elliott, Jones, Johnson and Suarez all qualified top 10 and failed inspection to start from the rear … back to my lineups

I have made the mistake before pf automatically thinking anyone moved to the back is unplayable … but considering these are all top 10 guys … do you guys think any of them are still playable despite starting at the back?

Hey dudes, I literally know nothing about NASCAR as a sport or for DFS, but somehow won some satellite tickets to the $11 contest today; who are the studs to pay up for? I’m not doing this particularly seriously, so I’m gonna go with some crazy low priced guys, but who projects to do well at the top? I did about 5 minutes of my own research before realizing I’m completely lost. Thanks!

Oh shoot … thanks … that is right … if they fail inspection after qualifying and disallowed … DK will change their qualifying position … if they have to start at the back for any other reason they retain their qualifying position. Lordy … that changes the landscape

I am not an expert … but in general … you want at least a couple of Dominators … i.e. drivers that are going to ideally lead a lot of laps and finish at the top and rack up points. Usually high priced. The rest … you are looking for placing as high as possible and racking up place differential points since they will not be leading laps. A guy that starts 10th finishes 5th, 20th and finishes in the top 10 or starts 30th and finishes 20th etc. Fast laps is a little hard to predict IMO. It also seems like in general you need the winner, a bunch of top 10 or better and one driver finishing top 20 with good PD. But anything can happen. The salaries are pretty reliable on DK … the top drivers that are most expensive on down are the best ones so you can go off that and need to pay up for a couple of drivers for sure.

so the race is in 2 hours and they don’t have the proper starting spots on dk yet? some people are gonna be salty

seems like they changed the quicker last week

    still not changed

  • homers1226

    now dk down lol

nvm only down for 5 seconds

  • ElSlappo

Will they for sure be scored from the back?

  • homers1226

After Harvick, however, the lineup saw several changes with seven different cars failing inspection on their first attempt, including four original top-10 starters.

Moving to the rear of the field are Erik Jones (who qualified second), Chase Elliott (seventh), Daniel Suarez (ninth) and Jimmie Johnson (10th).

Also failing and moving to the rear of the field are Aric Almirola (15th), Denny Hamlin (18th), Matt Tifft (20th) and Joey Gase (36th).

Tifft, Hamlin and Elliott also failed on their second attempt and will have a crew member ejected from the track.

This weekend’s Cup Series race weekend featured a condensed two-day schedule, which meant cars did not go through inspection prior to Friday night’s qualifying session.

Instead, all of the cars had to pass pre-race inspection on Saturday afternoon on the first try to keep their respective starting positions.

Kevin Harvick, who won the pole, passed on his first attempt and will still lead the field to green in the Toyota Owners 400.

right im saying i dont think dk is changing starting positions

  • homers1226

clint bowyer starting at 21,, will gain 7 spots on 1st lap if he stays 21

  • ElSlappo

I asked DK chat, here’s the response:

They will be scored from the back, not where they originally qualified. The NAS slate will update with the full list and their positions once the inspection is finalized from our provider.
