Going to be very difficult to separate from the field this week if players have done their research on who has been good on dirt tracks. Heat races may be telling too. Larson is going to be heavy chalk

I was reading some Bristol Speedway reviews of the teams, which included some comments from the drivers. Summary: “We have no idea what to expect.”

If the drivers are saying this, I sure don’t know!

I’m super pumped for this. As a big dirt track fan this is exciting, I just hope that the track and cars hold up. Not so much talking about wrecks but these are heavy cars on dirt, hopefully the grooves hold true, and parts don’t break. I’m thinking a few good dirt drivers starting in the top 15 along with a lot of guys starting in the back. Playing it a little like the super speedways.

Larson (who has probably one of the best records in terms of dirt racing from nascar) , Harvick, Truex Jr.,Newman, Suarez, Wallace, and Briscoe are the others from Nascar doing the Truck Series race. Wonder how many people will flock to these names.

NOTE 1: Top 40 qualifiers will make the main (feature) race (i.e., 4 drivers will not make the feature race. The rules for who does and does not make the feature race is too complicated to explain here but essentially any driver entered is at risk of not making the feature race.

NOTE 2: John Hunter Nemechek is on “Baby Watch”. In the event Nemechek is unable to drive, Christopher Bell will drive in his place. If there is a change in driver, Nemechek will accrue all fantasy points for the #4 car as long as he starts the race. In other words, if Bell starts the race Nemechek will accrue zero (fantasy points)

NOTE 1: All drivers entered will make the Cup race.

NOTE 2: For whatever reason, in some versions of “P1 SPD” reports NASCAR carried out MPH to 4 decimal places (instead of just 3). This is the reason the above is rounded to the ten-thousandths place.

Wonder how the dirt track stars ( Golobic,Marlar,Windom,Friesen) are going to do in cup while not having the fastest cars.
Ankrum looks to be too cheap for the truck race.

You could be right…I’ll have him in one of three. Also, both Mr. and Mrs. Friesen are in this race.

He has to be basically unplayable now right? 12K salary and pole start meant you were counting on him to dominate. As it sits now I can’t see a world where he ever pays off that price tag.

Yeah especially since he was not exactly the most dominate in the practices but was expected to do well.
He should be good at his price for the truck race though.

For what it’s worth … my DK rankings (absolute projected fantasy points + value … not finishing order). 20,000 simulations (based on limited data … scary) Tiers are separated at points where there are notable gaps in projections. Drivers with the same ranking (ties … extending results out 3 decimal places) are noted with the same ranking.

As expected with little data, measures of dispersion (standard deviations, median absolute deviations, ranges, percentiles) for most drivers are uncomfortably high. Thus, think today (or tomorrow if today is washed-out) could be a crapshoot (see Superspeedway fantasy) … too many unknowns.

    The good?

The numbers in Tier 1 seem to be the best of the bunch (or least bad … depending on whether you’re a glass half-full or half-empty kinda person), and since those drivers would conceivably be most important, that’s nice I guess. :)
