What are your thoughts this week. Normally we expect carnage at restrictor plate tracks. Are we expecting the same this week. The xfinity race seems to not involve as many wrecks as cup.

I can’t help but be very heavy on truex here. I mean starting in pole I feel he gets out and leads and holds.

  • billythekidcowboysheat

I’m leaving a lot of money on the table… probly gonna fade 3 of the 4 big chalks…bell, gaughen, suarez, dillon. Can’t decide which one to keep.

  • jki7p6

    5600 left on table. Feels…wrong

If your serious please send me a H2H. Truex might be the worst play on the board.

Made my five lineups. 3 are traditional, aka probably doomed to WreckyDumb.

One leaves $5K on the table. The other leaves $2.3K.

    Good luck, people!

But Truex will have to lead a bunch to make up for the PD he won’t get ANY of.
And Hamlin, Kyle B, Jimmy J, Harvick, Kez are 2-3-4-5-6.
How many lead laps can he get ?

Do they just get in a line for the first 40 something laps? He could get the lead and a few fastest.

Probably not the best play, but it’s possible.

My best guess is Kyle B or Denny Hamlin grab the lead quick from the 2 or 3 spot.

It’s really a crapshoot, but traditionally you are going to have a mix of guys from the back, middle, and front of the pack survive til the end. Just pray you pick the right ones to survive and you aren’t safe until the race is over lol!

    Right.

Dominator points are overrated here. Usually there’s multiple guys leading laps. There’s only 188 laps here, so 5 or 6 guys splitting them up doesn’t leave much. Fastest laps are usually spread throughout the field.

There’s much more value in place differential. The guys starting at the very front have more downside and ultimately really less upside then anybody in this race. Truex or Hamlin, or whomever out front leading 40 laps will easily be washed away if they wreck and finish 20th.

You’re probably going to need the winner, especially if they do lead a nice chunk of laps, which is why you can’t completely rule out the front guys, but there’s obviously more upside in targeting the guys starting a little further back like Logano, Elliot, Blaney or you know, that general range.

I’m new to NASCAR too like some of you other fellas… The big Talladega takeaways from what I read:

-There are no “safe” bets but Logano and Almirola seem to be on another level here and their ownership will likely be through the roof.

-Due to the craziness of this race (and the added wild card of a new package?) it’s best to get exposure to the whole field and a bit more evenly than at other tracks where the studs are more likely to perform well.

-188 laps means less points for laps led and fastest laps for dominators. And on top of that, the way these cars jockey for position, these laps points will be strewn about amongst the field because many drivers will have a turn or two up front.

-Place differential is the key here so drivers starting closer to the front are a liability while the guys in the back are the safer plays. Yeah, it seems weird saying that Suarez is “safer” than Martin Truex Jr but that seems to be the thing.

-Don’t worry about leaving salary on the table. The optimal lineup will most likely leave plenty. I read a writeup where one “expert” said he’s backing off of Bell because of his high salary. If there’s any reason to fade Bell, I think it’s because his ownership will be high. At least on DK. I don’t know about the other sites.

  • Logan7777

What am I missing with Bell priced on DK higher than Kez, Harvick, or Hamlin?

Sorry I wasn’t trying to be rude, I couldn’t tell if he was serious or not. As others have said place differential is king on super speedways. The pole sitter is extremely risky because he can only go backwards and there isn’t a lot of laps to lead. It’s not like Bristol where they have 500 laps. That mixed with the amount of accidents in the field I just feel it is to risky to play the pole sitter.

  • ljason8eg

Not only is there not many laps to lead, the leader will never get the fastest lap point. There will always be someone in the pack behind that turned a faster lap.

  • jeffgo33

I decided to go Newman-Preece over Almirola-Bell. Hope to get some decent leverage there

Pleasantly surprised by Kurt Busch and McDowell with relatively low ownership considering the high ownership of the other guys in my lineup.
