DeAndre Ayton is coming back in a few days, I was just reading this:

    https://www.theringer.com/nba/2019/12/5/20995454/suns-kings-deandre-ayton-marvin-bagley

Answer is obviously yes. It’s pretty sad that both of these guys were drafted ahead of Luka lol. Bjelica is way better than Bagley. Bagley looked bad in his mins today vs. Robinson. I’m not even sure what Bagley is good at. There’s not a single thing special about him, as he can’t shoot, can’t defend the rim, can’t handle the ball, can’t create for his teammates…he’s just good at racking up a ton of FPs because he doesn’t defend the rim so he gets the rebounds and with Fox, he gets a lot of Fox’s assists so he has an easy finish at the rim. Ayton is a little better because he’s just so big, but no idea what GMs were thinking when they drafted these two ahead of Luka (and a whole bunch of other players like JJJ, Trae, SGA, etc. who are all better).

They always draft big guys first that’s a tradition

Yea the strength, size, athleticism, etc. part is more overrated these days than anything. It’s more a skill based game and a postionless game. Look at Harden and Luka, both are not that athletic (in fact that’s why Harden was criticized in his draft, as Blake was taken 1st). But they are so smart and crafty. All the really good big men are super skilled (shoot, dribble, pass, etc.).

I feel like Ayton’s physical abilities are a detriment. He was so big and strong at such a young age he just used that for his advantage to look good. But once you get to the NBA and everyone’s big and strong, it doesn’t really help as much unless you have some incredibly freaky skillset like an abnormal wingspan (which Ayton doesn’t actually have, Bamba actually has that). Other than that you gotta develop your game. Like Giannis is super athletic, but he could handle the ball even at a young age (played PG in Greece). Giannis as a rookie people were already talking about him being the best player that draft.

Lucikly for Ayton, he can actually kind of shoot it, so I think he still has a lot of upside. But guys like Cam Reddish, Kevin Knox, and Josh Jackson are done lol. They were just so good at a young age because they were more physically gifted than everyone else, but it’s no longer the case and now they are all busts.

im surprised pg13 and kawhi were not so high owned. with no point guard it was clear they would have the ball the whole game
