Durant has been one of hte worst plays on the board for nearly a month straight now because he’s overpriced by $1,000 with Cousins there.. eventually he’ll have a big game and it’ll come at low ownership because he’s such an awful play every night…

So if you have a great lineup and wind up with durant salary left over at F then id probably try it… but if you’re asking if you should build a core around a guy that’s severely overpriced the answer is no…

yea i havent played him since cousins came back just don’t know who i like in that game

This reminds me of poker in that everyone thinks the best players got rich by taking down huge pots with crazy cards. The reality is they got rich by folding more often than you do. They played the premium hands and small edges added up overtime. Much like you should be playing the premium plays each evening and grinding out small wins until finally the stars align and the lineup hits yahtzee.

Great lineups aren’t made by putting kadeem allen in all 150 lineups. They are made by building a great core and then surrounding it with under the radar guys like kadeem allen.

Thanks for that analogy! From a person that used to play poker online almost daily to now trying to learn the intricacies of playing DFS basketball daily that was helpful.

Totally agree. I dropped a 344.75 with Randle in my lineup. Had him in 3 of 4 lineups on DK. Could’ve played an Okogie or something in at least one. Really my only bust and Clarkson also not too impressive.

I don’t think this is a game Lebron gets up for. He’ll let the JV squad do the heavy lifting tonight.

My advice for any sport if you are using lineup HQ…

    Step 1: Buy a whistle.

Step 2: Blow the whistle and yell “Code Brown”. Remember when we were kids and you heard this? It means someone crapped in the pool and everyone’s gotta get out.

Step 3: You heard the lady, exclude EVERYONE from your player pool.

Step 4: Start adding the players you LOVE into your player pool.

Step 5: See how the players you LOVE fit together nd build your core from there.

Step 6: Start surrounding the players you LOVE with the studs/value you LIKE for the day.

This will help you avoid doing something stupid like building your core around Chasson Randle, Karl Anthony Towns, etc… and will help you still have a decent night when those guys dont come through….

The problem with starting with everyone in the player pool and trying to EXCLUDE guys is that you are only eliminating the same idiots everyone else is.

You keep looking at names like Jae Crowder and you’re like “Hmmmm, he COULD get 34 FPS and be in the winning lineup, I probably shouldn’t exclude him”.

Well when all you have is a hammer everything starts to look like a nail. Similarly When all you have is 108 players in your pool, everyone looks like a potential winner.

I had ZERO Chasson Randle across 30 LUs in the 15 dollar DK tournament yesterday…lol. What a horrible play. I had enough bad plays already. I did manage to score a 343 on DK with 9.75 from Cory Joseph. If Joseph would have simply been average that LU probably nets 2k.

Really I’d guessed he’d want to get that win tonight after Sunday’s loss. Do you have any thoughts on Rondo tonight?

  • Cdavis21

Thoughts on AD? Played 34 minutes against the Grizzlies but only 27 the game before. His matchup against the Magic looks saucy but are his minutes going to be there?

He would need the minutes. The Magic play really slow and are loaded with length across their LU. It doesn’t sound ideal to me but I’ll have a few

i am doing 3 lineups today and have one with james just in case but don’t like the play, I really think you are right though it would be different if they were on tnt tonight for james but there not. I think as of right now bullock will get 30 plus mins again and at 3400 he maybe the play him and mcgee of course for the price

    Mike Muscala revenge game?

LeBron will be going against Prince, Bembry, Collins and Spellman if he is playing the three and four. Those are their worst defenders.

agreed, not only are they all bad defenders but they’re each either giving up massive size/agility. I mean most people are when facing Lebron, but this is about as bad as it gets as collection of defenders to matchup with lebron..

  • Wooden_Bones

First look at that LAL/ATL game, there’s plenty to like.

LBJ is in a good spot, as well as Young due to no Lin. Bullock and McGee are underpriced, on dk. Should be plenty of scoring in this game.

Rondo is a tough guy to nail down every game…

Tonight I think he is particularly difficullt because Atlanta isn’t necessarily the team you want to play PG’s against as they are more vulnerable against wings…

On the flip side, Rondo isn’t a scorer he’s a guy that gets there more like Rubio or Elfrid Payton do by putting up homeless man near triple double type lines… 12 pts, 8 reb, 11 ast… so we want to play him in pace up games we anticipate to be high scoring (much like tongiht)…

His price is still a little elevated from Lebron being out and his FPS have been all over the place the last three games (13, 42, 13).

Rondo is pretty old with a decent injury history so if the lakers have any sense they won’t run him into the ground the next 2 months… they also need to win games so it’d be smart if they left Rondo on the bench more often during they playoff push since he sucks…

I’m probably out on Rondo.. if he were $4800 I’d prob be pretty interested but there is more upside than downside tonight. May have him in a lineup or two but likely only if he fits the salary i have leftover on a 7 man build…

i did. all depends on if j val is active or not. even if he is, if noah can get minutes in the low to mid 20’s, i still think he is in play.

who do we play on the hawks side if we are to run it back someone? collins or dedmon?

I know most peopole don’t like narratives but “revenge” spot for Gobert? I mean the Warriors publicly made fun of him for crying!

I counter your narrative with the “it’s a Trap” narrative!
I think they therefore cancel each other out!

I’m a Dedmon truther and he’s been very good to me for most of the year but lately they have really capped his minutes at around 24-27 which has just killed his upside…

the lakers are obviously a terrible matchup for Alex Len though so i do see potential for heavier minutes esp since Plumlee is still out.

The price break down to $4,600 sure is intriguing as now you’d be pretty happy with a 30-35 point outing instead of needing him to push for the ~40 FPS he’s fallen well short of lately…

The lakers are a team you can rebound against, get cheap buckets against, and they’ll need his rim protection for sure… foul trouble is a huge concern of course for any rim protector vs Lebron but at $4600 we don’t need him to play 36 minutes necessarily… Dedmon is at his best in fantasy when he can get multiple blocks and the Lakers are in the bottom 1/3rd of the league in that category.

I’ll definitely have him on some squads. He likely falls short of a core play for me tho

  • Matoshea

Who’s the guy to pay up for yahoo cash, James or Embiid? James has a dream matchup but is a bit up and down since he’s been back or Embiid who will get you a guaranteed 50 fpts every time he suits up.

    Mike Muscala revenge game?

    hilarious haha…

This is actually a great matchup for Scallops, as Atlanta gives up 3’s in droves.

As i mentioned last slate, Muscala is an elite 3pt shooter out of the corner. I didnt see his first Lakers game but i noticed he went 2/5 from 3’s in THIRTEEN minutes…

Most teams only give new players a few minutes their first game so they have less sets to memorize. It’s easier to say okay we’re gonna play you 6 minutes each half and run these sets while you’re in there…

He only got 1 rebound in his 13 mins which seems fluky . If he gets say 25 min tonight (blowout run?) he’s a heck of a 30 FPS threat for $3,300 IMO

Just gotta understand he’s got all the potential in the world to put up 10-15 FPS and crush your lineup’s upside too.

  • dominicanpapi

Lot of guards in good spots on FD: Bullock at 4600, Bazemore is 4300, if his minutes go up to 25-28 minutes, I think he’s a great play, Brown, Mitchell.

As someone who played poker for a living for a long time and now does it as a hobby and takes it pretty seriously I appreciate this comment. It’s so true, you make way more money in poker by not making bad plays rather than making great plays. The elite of the elite combine both but the majority of us who make money playing poker do so by avoiding “fancy play syndrome.”

It’s the same thing that ails DFS players, playing someone just because “hey, you never know” is such a bad strategy. Play guys who are good plays.
