Norman Powell only playing five minutes was the big surprise.

I expect that to continue—he’s taking his minutes from Leonard and how many of those will there be?

He doesn’t fit defensively in this series and I think defense needs to be Nurse’s first order of business this round. The only way he sees a lot of the floor is if Kawhi or Siakam get in foul trouble, and even then I think they might be better off with that three-guard lineup they ran for a while tonight.

  • SkateFiend

If Durant can’t come back I think Golden State is done for. I don’t think that team is a dynasty without Kevin Durant.

  • Giez

I could of went Thompson/Looney over Seth/Bougut… but didn’t. Not sure how that was…

  • yisman

$599.94 worth of entries into FD’s final shot. Got $464.25 back.

$325 in the milly maker, got back $55

    what a disaster

Powell was drafted by the Bucks and had a great series. I think that inspired him. Even so, I don’t see him getting more time now as their size is an BIG asset. I was right that Draymond would be down against it. Unless KD comes back I just don’t see GS winning. Powell may get more run in GS if those games turn into track meets though

so glad I didnt waste money on the $25 MM. I’m way off on most of my lu’s.

Playing a showdown game first game of a series is a straight diceroll. I still enjoy making the lineups, so ill play for entertainment. A small edge usually doesn’t show itself until after game 1 at the earliest. After game 3 the edge is there…IMO

I am on the record saying warriors would win it all. I’m eating crow…..

Although, I was arguing on the other thread that the -250 line for the warriors was completely off and fan driven, and that I liked Toronto, don’t you think it’s a bit premature to call the series over?

A lot had to go right for Toronto to get that win. If Iggy isn’t seriously hurt I’d give GS a decent chance in game 2.

$100 in on DK Milly Maker, got back $155
$88.88 in on FD – only $35 back
So basically, a break even night.

played 23 minutes a game in the ECF!

Milwaukee and GSW run entirely different offenses, especially when Durant’s out. They can put him and McCaw out there when GSW’s emptied their bench I suppose, but there’s no way they can get away with playing him 23 minutes.

I thought Toronto basically dominated the game, and it was still a game with three minutes left. That is how good Golden State is. I don’t see Siakim having that good of a game again, but I would also expect Kawhi to score more as the series goes along. I would also expect Lowry to score a little more. If Golden State wins one on the road, they will win the series.

Steph is really the only Warrior that played well. Klay wasn’t very good. Draymond was just average. As GG said earlier today, Toronto is the best team that they have faced in the finals in their recent history. Way better than the Lebron teams as they are much more complete.

I still think Gasol is the difference maker, as GS has no one to control him.

  • tmarohl

Drake tells Draymond he is trash. LOL

I saw it just the opposite: GSW collapsed on Kawhi and forced the ball out of his hands, the tradeoff was giving up a ton of absurdly open threes. Toronto’s guards were 5 of 16 on those threes; I don’t know how that gameplan could have worked better and the game still was never in doubt.

  • tmarohl

Nine days off and Iggy is still hurt. Not good for the Warriors.

  • ASalvaro

A WNBA note..it looks like Vadeeva is out tommorow for the Sparks..this is big news because she was probably going to be 50 percent owned at her price

Seems to me that Bogut is the kind of guy you want defending Gasol.

He would have been better than Bell and Boogie, for sure. Terrible coaching decision by Kerr to start Bell and give Boogie minutes instead of Bogut.

I also said earlier that if Draymond didn’t keep playing like his hair’s on fire, Warriors would lose that game. He didn’t, and they did. Average isn’t going to cut it against the Raptors.
It was frustrating to watch Kerr’s decisions, feel like I could have done a better job of coaching. They expended way too much effort on Kawhi and just ignored all their other guys. Nobody guarded Gasol. Draymond did a terrible job of defending Siakam. Klay did a good job on Lowry, but that was about it.
Sticking with Warriors in 6, they will make adjustments and hopefully take Game 2 on the road.

    Come on now…haha

Kerr is a great coach. His game plan was solid.

You think Siakam is going to shoot 14-17 ever again? Van Vleet, Gasol, and Danny Green all shot better than usual as well.

Although I said I like Toronto last week, and still do….as long as Iggy isn’t hurt, I see reason for optimism for your dubs.

No puppy GIF today since you turned against Kerr…lmao 🤷‍♂️😁

    https://sports.yahoo.com/sources-kevin-durant-expected-to-return-midway-through-finals-122615919.html

TORONTO — Barring a setback, Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant is expected to return from a right calf strain at some point midway through the NBA Finals, league sources told Yahoo Sports.

There’s some optimism within members of the organization that a Game 3 arrival could be viable, but there’s a stronger possibility that Game 4 is the most logical option, sources said.

Head coach Steve Kerr announced Wednesday that Durant was cleared to take part in individual on-court basketball activities, but the 10-time All-Star — who has missed the past six postseason games — actually began his on-court basketball workouts earlier this week, sources said.

I know Kerr’s a great coach, I was just playing when I said I could do a better job

It looked like his game plan was to take away Kawhi and dare the rest of the Raptors to beat them, and they proceeded to do just that. Maybe that’s a solid plan, but I would have let Kawhi get his and taken everyone else away. These aren’t the Blazers, the supporting cast is too good to hope you can win by just taking away their best player.
It seems too easy to write the loss off to rust, but that may have played a part. The Warriors played very sloppy, they had what, 17 turnovers? And they fouled way too much, too. I’m very optimistic that they’ll clean that up and have a better showing on defense next game, I’m not even in the same room as the panic button just yet LOL

Yes it is only one game and it was at Toronto. However, it really proved to me how good Toronto’s defense is. GS really misses KD. Barkley made a really good point last night. He talked about the other guys besides klay and Curry need to score. Who? The pace of the game was definitely in Toronto’s favor. Lastly, the warrior defense was pretty bad. Couldn’t stop the drives to the lane. Looks like a great series and chess match goung forward. Finally, shout out the Mtd. I give him credit.

Haha, I was just messing around. I’d think any Dubs fan or NBA fan knows Kerr is a good coach.

If Iggy is hurt, you guys are in trouble. He did a great job on Kawhi last night, yet if he’s not, there’s hope. I thought Kerr had a good plan. Maybe as you said earlier he could have started bogut or something yet I don’t think that’s a big deal.

He was essentially daring anyone other than Kawhi to beat them, and there will likely be games when the supporting cast won’t step up like they did yesterday.

    😁

  • yisman

So according to sources, Kerr was deliberately lying to and misleading the public. That’s the real information in the story. Why am I not surprised?

Gasol only took three shots in the paint and one of them was in transition. I don’t see how Bogut would have helped.
