Kerr just said a few minutes ago that there is still no update on Durant. I guess that means they haven’t ruled him out for game 6 yet :)

Yeah, I just saw KD’s post. I guess that explains why they went directly to New York then instead of back to the Bay area.

Kevin Durant wrote on Instagram that he has undergone surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon in his right foot

So Kerr has no update on Durant, yet 17 minutes later Durant is posting about his successful surgery on instagram. What the hell is going on with them?

  • tmarohl

Best wishes for a speedy and full recovery for KD! The league is not as good without him.

I assume it’s safe to conjecture there was a MRI involved?

ok, it’s just he didn’t share the MRI results w/ Kerr so Kerr could share them us.

Bobby Marks did a pretty good breakdown of Warriors finances on ESPN+ under several scenarios. Not pretty. Check out these tax numbers if they keep Durant. The tax they would pay is more than the actual salary’s of the players.

    Warriors With Durant
    SEASON SALARY TAX TOTAL
    2019-20 $176.2M $203.5M $379.7M
    2020-21 $180.2M $169.8M $350.0M
    2021-22 $196.2M $231.6M $427.8M
    2022-23 $203.2M $229.0M $432.0M
    Total $1.59B

Chase Center has already generated $2 billion in revenue, and it doesn’t even open until September.
It’s basically a license to print money.

Pretty cool since the team was purchased in 2010 for 400M, which is less than the salaries and tax they will pay in a few years.

Seriously, if Glass goes to the Lakers, with a declining Lebummer, and no shooting, are they any better than a 5 seed in the West?

They would make the tournament, but probably would not be any good. I mean, New Orleans with Glass had more talent than the Lakers with Glass, and they didn’t make it. But hey, I am the guy who thinks Lebummer has been the most over rated player in the league for about the last two years.

LeBron is more talented than all of AD’s teammates combined.

I’m just saying that I don’t think Lebron and AD, minus all of the players they would trade for AD, would not even be as good as the Pelicans next year if AD stayed in New Orleans with Jrue, Zion, Randle, etc.

I am the resident Lebron hater though :)

Well depends on who they give up. Kuzma is terrible so that would make the Lakers better. Ingram isn’t good as a spot up shooter (which he’ll have to be with LeBron and AD), so not much of a loss. Lonzo would actually be important to keep as a defender and secondary playmaker. If they only give up Kuzma, Ingram, the 4th pick, and some other guys who aren’t as relevant (like Mo Wagner), then it’s fine I think.

Remeber, they have Alex Caruso on their team. He’s like their 2nd best player currently.

Kyle Kuzma got invited to the USA Basketball Camp and is supposedly one of the 18 finalists for the US Basketball team this summer? Wow, Lakers should totally exploit this value and trade him as soon as they can. He’s not even one of the top 18 basketball players playing in the city of LA right now.

They might make the playoffs but they would get smashed in the first or second round.

There is a reason lebron wants kawhi and butler there. They will play defense. Lebron can’t/doesn’t want to play defense and brow is not much better.

Davis is a decent defender. A lot of defense honestly is steals without gambling (in the 1990s a lot of players gambled for steals, but these days most of the top steals leaders do it in context of a normal defensive scheme so it’s a more accurate indicator).

Steals and deflctions (including blocks) are probably the greatest indicator of how good a defensive player you are and Davis is really good at those 2 things. That’s because a steal is strictly greater than forcing a missed shot since 1) you are guaranteed possession without an offense rebounding chance and 2) you can start fast breaks easier than a defensive rebound.

A lot of people say oh but he’s such a good defender because he lowers a guys FG percentage, but it’s more like 50 percent to 45 percent (not like 50 percent to 0 percent), which is kind of big but not as big if you can get like 1 extra steal per every 20 on-ball possessions.

Also, individual defense itself is pretty overrated these days. It’s more about team defense. That’s because in the NBA, you can just generate a switch and iso-ball isn’t as rampant, so although having great defenders helps, an equally great offensive player with terrible defense is strictly better than an equally great defensive player with terrible offense, since it’s more about a team concept with the switching.

He is actually better defensively than Lebummer, but that ain’t saying much.

Eh LeBron had a +DPRM and Box Score Defensive Rating (which pretty much means his teammates are terrible at defense). Kuzma was negative in all those. LeBron also got 1.3 steals per game while Kuzma got 0.6 steals and 0.4 blocks in like 33 mins, which is terrible. There aren’t many NBA players who get 1 combined block + steal in 33 minutes because even if you don’t try on defense, you would think at least one bad pass or one ball comes near your way you can deflect.
